My biggest problem with Apocalypse is that they made him too human. The story and the prologue present him as this mythic, larger than life, god-like figure and then when we see him he's basically just a goofy looking, more powerful, less developed Magneto. When his first scene after being resurrected was just talking to some muggers in the street, I knew we were in trouble.
Look at the X-Men Evolution version. That guy was a force of nature. This Apocalypse wasn't much different than any other mutant. Not exactly somebody who could be confused with a god.
Because the world as he state is rule by false god, there is no room for him anymore. Is not that different thzn those false god though.
But if you doubt it they did made Apocalypse a goofy vilain that cares about the look of his horsmens like toys and make a big ugly statue of himself inside a gigantic pyramid. He is out of time. The guy woke up from a long nap and is like whuuut this is not right i'm gojna change that. And if you can't feel he is a force of nature when he down all the nuke in the world or erase an entire city wich represented the center of the world then id on't know.
Apocalypse wasn't a god, the speach says so in the very beggining people with immense power will think themeselves as god, but they are not, they are just men, or mutant. And this reflects really well our world today and human condition.
Through the movie Apocalypse repeat that "all will be revealed" and it is, the real "god" or cosmic figure is revealed but he was just a fraud. Man to woman. They made a twisted laugh of patriarcal figure (because old testament/solar gods are what shap the world an rational thinking if you don't know).
As for Apocalypse not being a force of nature, agzin, not true. He serve as an enhancer of power and revelling the hidden forces (reach deep down to the earth magneto). He is in clear opposition to technology. He shut the nuke down.
In X-Men evolution Apocalypse used tehcnology alot more and it was said it was it that allowed him to have is power amplified or survived, force of nature bye bye.
