Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse

I wonder if he means that Apocalypse's robotic elements are part of the visual design of the character, or if they're actually going to use some kind of robotics in the effect. Interesting.

There's no way to describe the hype for this movie.

Seriously.

Every movie til then will be appetizers.

We are getting A destruction movie.
A solid actor in Apocalypse who's a bigger fan boy then most of us.
The big 3. Vs Apocalypse AND the four horsemen.
More foxverse quicksilver.

Hype indeed

It's all very ambitious for sure. I guess DOFP was also very ambitious and managed to deliver on nearly everything.

It's very cool Isaac is genuinely a fan and knows a lot about the character. Really looking forward to seeing what he does with Apocalypse.

I’ve been a fan of Star Wars and particularly of X-Men and Apocalypse the character for a very long time

Ok I love this guy.

Sounds like he's a bigger fan of X-men/Apocalypse than Star Wars :)

The only film that ranks higher on my anticipation list is Batman v Superman. I'm really looking forward to seeing these two giants share the big screen for the first time ever.

So, for me, it's:

1) BvS (because Batman and Superman)
2) X-Men Apocalypse (because DoFP was the comic book movie I'd been waiting for -- the perfect mix of smarts, drama and action)

Everything else is just icing on the cake.

Didn't see this posted. Nothing new, but pretty funny.

Isaac was awesome in Ex Machina, I have liked him in every movie I have seen him in since first being introduced to him in Sucker Punch. I cant wait to see what he does with Apocalypse.

So what exactly would be apocalypse's mutation without celestial technology?

It's curious because, if he is really the first mutant, then the X-Men are carrying his mutant gene, but manifested in different ways. So what was that very first mutation and how does that gene or set of genes differ from one carrier of the gene to the next?

I mean, they have telepathy, telekinetics, teleportation, shapeshifting, pyrokinetics, magnetic manipulation, regeneration... all stemming from a single mutation??? How is one genetic mutation so variable ?

Maybe his mutation is to have all the mutations!!!!!!!!!

He has molecular manipulation as part of his mutant ability, wouldn't be too out there to assume he could manipulate genes themselves? I don't think it'll be something to get stuck on though.

So what exactly would be apocalypse's mutation without celestial technology?

He had immortality and heightened superhuman abilities such as strength, stamina, speed etc.

His augmentation with the Celestial tools heightened all of those and gave him all of his extra powers such a teleportation, molecular manipulation etc.

But did he procreate before or after adapting the Celestial technology? Were the alien modifications to his DNA the cause of so many powers in later characters ?

Also, I'm guessing the combination of genes affected by the mutation were never explained. We only know that it manifests at puberty and that it is hereditary, meaning that, rather than a normal person randomly mutating, the mutation is born with.

And, just to clarify, the father is not the carrier, right? In X2, Pyro makes a joke about it, but I'm guessing he was bothering Mr. Drake. If it was only the father that could carry it, then it would be tied to the Y chromosome and would not be passed on to girls...

It would be very nice if they found a way to explain how the mutation works, if it hasn't been done in the comics.

I mean, I'm no geneticist but, how does "the mutant gene" (i.e. a delimited DNA sequence that is passed down from generation to generation) create so many different phenotypes, or percievable versions of the mutation ? Can one single gene cause so many abilities and apperances ??

And how do posterior "secondary mutations" come about, like Kitty Pryde's time phasing in DOFP ? Is the gene some sort of ever-changing gene ? Does it contain an alien nucleotide sequence ?

I'd geek out if they came up with something brilliant.

I think the Mutant Gene is best left a mystery. Things that are mystery are more mysterious and everlasting that something with a finite explanation.

I think this movie will deal with its origin but I hope not too specifically. They could come up with something brilliant but I think the chances of it being a 'is that it?' Are more likely.

I think Darth vader worked better as an evil without explanation than the 'I have to save Padme and thus doom Padme' explanation they delivered

If you wanna really get into it, Selene was the first. So the story gets kinda weird.

When George Lucas decided to make Darth Vader and Anakin the same person in the Empire Strikes Back, the "I have to save Padme'" explanation for his becoming evil was inevitable. It was even hinted upon when Vader said "Give yourself to the dark side. It is the only way you can save your friends". He thought the dark side would help him save Padme but he was wrong so Vader tries to trick Luke the same way the Emperor tricked him.

Anyone else a little worried he might end up like Malekith? I mean the movie's pretty preoccupied as it is.

They wouldn't have cast Oscar Isaac.

Maybe. I'm not sure if he's quite there yet. Not enough incentive for ample screentime anyway.

Suspsily it is loosly based on age of apocalypse.

Sure when we first heard about the title of this movie it was easy to see that this would be Age of Apocalypse-like film. But with how the movie is sounding like, I don't know how this could be "loosely" based on AoA.

Other than sharing the same main antagonist, it really isn't AoA though.

As far as we know:
Xavier's not dead in this.
Cyclops, Beast are not villains.
Wolverine and Jean won't be a couple.
Magneto is not leading the X-men.
yadda yadda yadda

Well Kinberg himself once said it would be drawing on the age of apocalypse.

The events of DOFP are what leads to this film.not xavier being killed.

Instead of Apocalypse ruling world this is likely apocalypse causing world wide destrucon.hence the disaster film compessions the filmmakers have used.

Isn't Apocalypse always causing world wide destruction? That's kinda his thing :oldrazz:

Still not seeing this as loosely based on AoA, whatever Kinberg might've said.

That's like saying X-men First Class is loosely based on the Dark Phoenix Saga because the Hellfire Club is the main antagonist.

Bryan Singer or someone from the crew (can't remember it) posted a picture on social media with the characters from the comics wearing their AOA outfits.

Well if he's a 1 and done kind of villain, maybe.
