Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse

Looking at the top banner on the EW twitter page, and seeing his face in closer detail, I'm actually really starting to dig it. That's really an intimidating looking motherf***er.

Open it in a new tab or save for bigger version.

Because he doesn't look like the Power Rangers villain they prefer?

Bc he looks like he belongs on ScyFy channel, not the big screen. The character does not look physically intimidating which is one of thing thats immediately visual about A. He is lacking that mass here and his look overall looks very cheap. You love it? Great, but he looks much better in the books and picking something more faithful to that would have been better than this bad cosplay look. Puny has never been a word to describe a powered up Apocalypse, but it is appropriate here

I would have preferred an alternate take on this

^ You have to see the suit with the correct lighting, camera placement etc....

Then theres the actors performance to consider.

So many times, people freak out at these advanced pics and they look fine on film.

I think a lot of people aren't factoring in the time period too. And the time where Apocalypse comes from. Also I highly doubt this is his final form that we will see in the movie. This looks like how he will be just walking around and recruiting. I think he will change throughout the movie.

Apocalypse was going to look kinda like a Power Rangers villain regardless. Have the complainers read the comics? At least the character has high quality production values (and a great and serious actor playing him).

Unless they changed him drastically, like into a military or scientist character.

Some people want Sinister. I can just imagine the outrage if Sinister looks anything close to the comics.

Yeah, that's my thing too. I mean, yeah, I guess there's a similarity that can be drawn between that pic of Isaac in-costume and Ivan Ooze, but let's not sit here and pretend that a straight-forward carbon copy of the comic book character wouldn't have looked any less outlandish or silly. People going "Oh well, this cosplay would've look better..." Cut the crap. No, it wouldn't have, it just would've kept you all well within your comfort zone. :o

I've zoomed in to the best of my Photoshop ability, for those wanting a closer look.

Peoples issue are always superficial. It's always about how the character looks. In Singer's movies most of the characters haven't really looked too much like the comic characters but they're always amazing because of the characters themselves and the stories played out on screen. For once Singer is actually going all out and there's still complaints. The comic book fanbase is the best fanbase at times but also the worst too.

I find the look creepy as hell. And based off of Oscar's dialogue in that leaked trailer. This is gonna be a freaky villain.

Love all the little details. We could still get glowy eyes like the pic above as well. The mouth he has in the comics would look fine if he wasn't talking, but it would look really weird if he is actually talking.

I just hope people can be won around to it like I have been. I have always thought of it as just another adaptation similar to that of cartoons and games so changes don't usually get to me unless it's major to the character

 Exactly.

I like that he looks human enough. It would be hard for me to stomach a Space-Transformer-Hulk. Hoping for Isaac to nail it, and quality writing to back him up.

What we have

what we should have, darker makeup for lips and thing between ears and lips make difference

And yes they should twitt photoshopped to Singer, because this resembles Apo much more.

My main issue during the series has been butchery of characters. Rogue in Last Stand, Cyclops not being the leader, Emma Frost in FC. It's always been about the characters for me. I've never cared how they looked. James hasn't really ever looked like a Professor X until now but that has never mattered because the character is PERFECT. Mystique has been different to the comic from the beginning but she's been such a rich important character to the movieverse. QS in DoFP let's face it looked hilarious but I never cared how he looked. Because his 10 minute sequence felt like it embodied the character and it was a fun take on the character. I'm sure the same thing will happen with Oscar as Apoc. Everyone will complain about the look but once they see it on screen and see how he nails it. Peoples opinions will change.

Who's to say Singer won't do something with his eyes by the time the final product rolls around? Who's to say that Isaac's size will be the only size Apocalypse will ever be in the film?

Friggin back-seat drivers, so eager to photoshop something and tweet it at Singer because you know better than he does, but he knows the film better than we do.

I think its a certainty that his eyes will glow white. Also it looks like his face gets darker and his chest glows (like Tron). If you watch the scene where he's at Cerebros entrance.
But I really really hope he increases his body mass at the end and its not just all telekinesis destruction a la Tetsuo in Akira. I have a feeling the 3rd act of this film will be incredible. Singer said he's been consulting with Roland Emmerich (iD4) because he plans on doing massive set pieces.

In fairness, I doubt Fox and Singer are going to release the first publicity photos as anything less than a finalized product. What we see is what we are getting (in terms of the eyes, anyway).

That being said, I think everyone ought to be careful what they wish for in regard to the eyes. Everyone wanted Batman to have his white lense eyes. Then we got it with TDK and it looked like this:

latest

What works on page, doesn't always work on screen.

That said...I am hardly going to defend this interpretation. IMO, it is boring, lacking in presence, unimposing, unimaginative. It is a guy painted blue in clothing that are too big. It just doesn't work for me.

That is interesting considering he consulted with James Cameron for the last film.

I hope there's less destruction porn and more mutant vs. mutant stuff, though. The most exciting part about that is we know it will mostly be a battle of equals, and we won't exactly predict who gets to win.
