Homecoming Out with the amazing and in with the Marvel Lounge - Part 10

As someone who played Spider-Man 3 on 360, PS3, and the widely different PSP version, I always enjoyed the heck out of that game. I've actually been thinking about picking it up again to replay it.

I like the PSP version of the game as well, it was the second free roam game I played.
Despite jumping from the beautifully looking and playable Ultimate Spider-Man to that game on PS2, that game didn't sourly disappoint me.

Huh, that's funny. Ultimate Spider-Man was my first roam game too. That game was so fun. Loved the comic book panel jumping aspect in the cut scenes.

But yeah, the PSP version wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the Morbius and Shriek stuff.

I love the wall bounce in that game, easily the best wall bounce has ever been in a Spidey game.

Watched Suicide Squad yesterday.

I wanted to like it, but I have to say that it's one of the worst comic book movies I've seen in recent years (haven't seen Fant4stic).

The Joker was a disappointment of epic proportions. The problem wasn't his screen time. The problem was the portrayal of him. Didn't feel like The Joker at all, but rather a generic gang lord.

I actually really liked the movie up until the second act, then it just went down hill to rock bottom. To me, it's easily worse than Batman v Superman.

I think they're hard to compare because they're bad for different reasons. But yeah, Suicide Squad was a real let down. There are glimmers of potential in there - Smith and Robbie in particular - but the whole thing just didn't really work.

I'm comparing them in one aspect: which one I enjoyed the most. I certainly enjoyed Batman v Superman more than Suicide Squad. BvS has a lot of heavy flaws, but Suicide Squad was barely watchable in the second and third act in my opinion.

Smith was great. Robbie was good, but also had some cringe moments and I got annoyed by her after a while.

EDIT: Also, I don't want to see DCEU fanboys scorn MCU for its villains anymore. Now we have Lex Luthor (an otherwise tier one villain), Doomsday and Enchantress both being terrible comic book movie villains.

Really the best way of comparing them. I personally got more enjoyment out of SS, I think mainly because of Deadshot, Harley, Waller and Boomerang. There was some good in there. I'd agree that Robbie was hit-and-miss at points, but largely I think she worked.

And yeah, the villains thing is amusing. They not only had horrible villains all around, but screwed up the two most iconic comic villains in history in the same year. It's laughable.

I preferred BvS, honestly. I was never on the hype train for Suicide Squad like everyone else, but after watching it I don't really have any desire to watch it again...I could watch BvS again and I own it on blu-ray. I don't think I'll buy Suicide Squad.

BatsDC, yeah I forgot to say that I also liked Boomerang.

I have a hard time coming up with things I like except for the introductions of some of the villains. Even the CGI was crap.

Also yes, it truly is laughable. So many times those fanboys have been like "oh yeah, MCU's villains suck haha!". Well guess what, it must be hard to screw up Lex Luthor and Joker yet DCEU did it.

I also hate the look of Justice League judging from what we saw in that trailer. Cringy humor, bad dialogue. I just want Snyder as far away from DC (or any comic book movie) as possible. His whole schtick seems to be to sacrifice story and characters for edgy visuals.

At least the Wonder Woman film looks good.

Definitely agree with getting rid of Snyder. I was a bit indifferent towards the Joker in Suicide Squad, but I loathe EisenLex and the fact that he'll more than likely be popping up in other films doesn't excite me.

I even forgot about Man of Steel by the way! Haha! Three times' not the charm unfortunately.

Yeah. Marvel has so far at least done their biggest villains justice for the most part - I'll take average over characters being butchered.

Yeah I can't say I liked the look of the Justice League footage either. Flash's scene was awful, the dialogue was terrible. Affleck is a great Batman, he deserves better.

Wonder Woman and Affleck's solo are the only DC movies I've got any hope for now. I'm just hoping and praying they manage to pull them together.

I wanna see a good batfleck movie. But i'm done givin em the benefit of the doubt.. I don't think i'll be checking out JL or WW

I'll definitely be seeing WW opening day. JL will probably be a matinee, discounted watching, or if I can score some free tickets from my friend who works at the theater, I'll do that.

Both for me will depend on the reviews and WOM. If they're as bad as the last two outings, I'm not bothering. I'm really crossing my fingers for WW, but DC have the worst track record atm.

Yeah, if WW manages to score terrible reviews and poor WOM I'll be more hesitant but I truly don't see how given how awesome that trailer was.
On the other hand, I said that exact same thing about MoS and BvS....

Ghostbusters received puke reviews, and I obeyed after the gigantic disappointment that is Boot Vs Stink, reviews describe characterization in general a shame.
I'm willing to do the same with Suicide Squad, but I haven't heard anything bad enough about the characterization of any of the characters out of Joker, who I can do without.
One thing I despise that I heard in reviews of this movie is how the trailers are false advertising.

Keep it that way, Fant4stic is not worth the try.

Okay, I've decided:

Rino Romano is my favorite VA for Spider-Man.

An excellent choice.

Decision came off of not only the 2000/2001 Spider-Man title, but also his VA on Spider-Man Unlimited.

The series is different and I can see why people dislike it, but his VA was top notch when it came to both the Peter and Spidey beats which firmly cements him as my #1 head-canon for the wall-crawler.
(Obvious exceptions of titles such as Ultimate Spider-Man, Spidey, etc. as they all feature a younger Peter Parker. :oldrazz:)

Honorable mentions obviously go to CDB and Josh Keaton.

I just dont know man. Patty Jenkins loved SS and said didnt understand why critics were hating on it. What does that say about her directorial judgement? Plus that supposed disgruntled employee saying its another mess. I hope that it actually is fine but I dont think they have it in them.

Eh, that just tells me Patty supports her company and her co-workers.
We're 10 months away from seeing the movie so I'm not buying any rumors from a disgruntled employee.
I'm not putting many eggs in this basket as DC has **** the bed three times in a row now, but I am cautiously optimistic.
As for JL, though....
