Paramount Pictures developing Sonic the Hedgehog movie

This news both excites and terrifies me. I've been wanting a Sonic movie for a long time, but then again, This is the same company responsible for those wretched Smurf movies.

Actually, Sonic has a surpringly huge following. It's just that Sega is mishandling the franchise left and right. But the series lives on through comic books and through fandom via tumblr, etc.

idk, Knuckles looks okay to me. He's a bit taller, and just a little chubby, but basically the same. Sonic looks much worse. BLUE ARMS. X(

I really hope (if this is really happening) that the movie is not set in the Sonic Boom universe. I saw only 2 minutes of footage from the cartoon and I already hate it. I know Sonic is for all ages, but it seems really light and childish.

I want something more in the style of Sonic Adventure for the movie. I'd like the writers to try and make a good story, not just dimiss it as another kids movie and phone it in..

I'll admit. That was a mistake by Sega by making the current Sonic games take place on Earth.

Sonic has ALWAYS taken place on Earth. The whole mobius thing was invented by SEGA of America and DiC.

I'm okay with humans in Sonic. The Adventure series and Unleashed handled it well. But yeah, Sonic X sucked.

This scares me. Sonic X was a hit with kids, and it basically followed the mold of Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Smurfs, only in a 2D animated fashion. It would be very easy to adapt that piece of crap into a movie, and I'm sure studio execs would want to push for something like that.

I have always wanted to see a Sonic movie taking it's inspiration from the Sonic CD intro, which was awesome... To me, that's how he should look, move and the world should look. He should be badass with out being badass if that makes sense... he's the hedgehog with attitude, not a kid spouting off goofball lines and insults.

They could just base it on Sonic 3 where Knuckles is working for Robotnik in the search for the Chaos Emeralds and in the process Robotnik is turning all the animals in bots. Sonic obviously saves the day and Knluckles realises the error of his ways and helps him defeat him in the end... Maybe introduce Metal Sonic in a sequel..

I don't wanna be seeing Shadow and all the other pointless side characters.

Urkel-Sonic had multiple catch-phrases. And they were all terrible.

It's so annoying to constantly hear people rip on modern Sonic. Adventures 1&2, Generations, even Unleashed (The 360/PS3 versions) were all pretty good games. So was the advance series, and I've heard good things about Colors.

The only truly terrible 3D Sonics were the 2006 game and Shadow's spinoff.
