Paul Dano is Edward Nashton aka "The Riddler"

Dano is the second actor to play the iconic riddling criminal after Jim Carrey previously played the role in “Batman Forever.”

I’m guessing most of these characters will serve as cameos to give Batman information as he pieces together who is the “big bad.” Honestly I’m happy we’re diving into a Bat universe that’s already in motion.

Quality, not quantity. Depends on how they're used. Some could be getting set up for future movies. I'd love to see rise of the Penguin in the underworld.

I am extremely surprised and dumbfounded.

I had no idea that Ed's last name was actually Nashton. As for Dano, I like the guy. Played a hell of a despicable character in 12 Years A Slave, so I'm sold. I've heard some mention Prisoners, which I haven't seen, so will need to give that a watch.

As far as Batman and his rogues, they are kinda burned in the public consciousness. The Riddler, Two Face, Catwoman, Scarecrow have all been in multiple movies, shows and games that were popular. I'm all for having them all in this film which seems like it will be a mini-Long Halloween .

I have no problems with there being a lot of villains in this. As others have said, as long as they work to serve the story and we don't get a waste of screen time going through their origins (again for some of them) it will be fine.

Also, I like that it's supposed to be a fully realized Batworld. I would love it if some of these villains also appear in sequels. Not every comic book movie sequel needs to dump the previous villains to make way for new ones. They can do both and if this movie's sequels pull that off it will be quite rare from what I can remember of past cbm films.

Thats sort of what I'm expecting. i'm thinking most will be established, and some will have smaller roles than others.

If Tennant were to be anyone I'd rather have him as Gordon than a villain (see: Broadchurch.).

Dano is just inspired casting. Hill must have had a remarkable screen test or something to make him the favourite over Dano (unless it was name recognition the studio was after.)
