The Dark Knight Penguin role

Funny how people are suggesting Jim Broadbent and Stephen Fry who are both taller than 6ft. And Broadbent was Batman in the SpiderPlant-Man parody short with Rowan Atkinson.
I still think they'll go to someone like Ricky Gervais.

Pesci wouldn't fit in with Nolan IMO. Now if it was a Scorsese Batman film....then Pesci would work for Penguin. LOL
yeah, probably not. but it's nice to dream.

Certian people are born to play certian roles

Patrick Stewart - Professor X. There has never been an argument about this - he was perfect. I belive that Hoskins would be perfect for the Penguin. His voice, looks, nose, mannerisms, etc.

Bob Hoskins - no more conversation...

And his voice - he already has a gargled rough voice - somehow i can hear him doing the perfect penguin laugh.

(quick manips by me)

Yep Hoskins all the way as The Penguin. :)

Hoskins is way too damn obvious.

I like the idea of Phillip Seymour Hoffman because he's a much less obvious choice.

I'm fine with both Hoffman and Hoskins. Both are good actors and somewhat look the part.

I wouldn't say he's less obvious, but it would definitely be interesting to see him take on another villian role, as he was great in M:I3.

im in the hoffman camp, but i would love a goodfellas style joe pesci to do it, if i was batman i would crap my pants at the sight of him.

What are you talking about? Hoffman is more obvious (what ever does that mean) :o

Hoffman is too tall but still he will be great but Hoskins will suit the British arms drug dealer if Nolan is going that way.

I'm telling you guys

STEPHEN FRY

These 3 are very Penguinish

He is already on that side of the country and has a respectable resume, all things Mr. Nolan seems to like in his actors. He is built like Cobbelpot and looks like him.

SIDE NOTE: I can't get these damn pics to show up for some lame reason so click the links if you want to see who I'm talking about.

anyway, I was watching the island the other day, and was thinking that bald guy, Ethan Phillips, wouldn't be bad, if there just looking for some one to look the part as a cameo, i mean he’s not that fat but, he is short and bald, also he is use to being maked up, and wearing prosthetics from when he was on star trek: voyager as Neelix lol

half joking around on this one

Fry is a big man - and nowhere near portly enough. Penguin has to be short and fat - and I doubt they will put the money into Digitally shortening someone when there are multiple character actors that would do a GREAT job and already fit the physical description (Not type casting - casting by type as my director always said)

In all seriousness I don't think they will put a short fat guy to fight batman thats just rediculous just like in returns.

Give Joe Pesci a baseball bat and he'd give Batman a run for his money.

the Penguin uses his umbrella weapons to attack Batman, he doesn't do hand-to-hand combat

No.

You don't need Digital anything to make someone look smaller. Penguin will not even be in it that much. Fry could be Penguin, it's a possability. It's all about camera tricks. Stuff like that has been done before. It was just an opinion.

There are no camera tricks in the world that could make a man look a full foot shorter than he really is. Maybe half a foot less at most, but not a full foot.

^Tell that to the LOTR people. It's called "forced perspective" and there's nothing digital or computer generated about it.

who do you guys think should play the role of the penguin in an upcoming movie?

Or do you think he should not be included at all?

Well I think Philip Seymour Hoffman could pull it off as This type version of The Penguin.

The mobster-type criminal, he fancies himself a "gentleman of crime."

Whatever. Nolan is not Peter Jackson and is most likely going to cast someone much closer to The Penguin's actual height. It's a lot less work and makes more sense.

Oh, I agree. That's easier. I just disagreed with you when you said

"There are no camera tricks in the world that could make a man look a full foot shorter than he really is"

Clearly, that's not true.
