Transformers Pictures Discussion Thread

^^^^ must say i agree with you on that subject, although i am one of the lucky ones to not have seen primes "lips" yet....altho i should check it out and get used to the look so i am not going to punch someone on the way out of the cinema....assault charges = not much fun

Its starting to grow on me how different the Autobots are from the Decepticons. I kinda like it.

Autobots : Normal "Earthy" curves and objects
Decepticons : Spikes and strange curves , giving it an alien look...

I'd be cool with it too.... if that was a concept of Transformers. Unfortunately, it's actually GOBOTS. It's an easy and cliched way to deliniate the factions.

Guardians : Normal "Earthy" curves and objects
Renegades : Spikes and strange curves , giving it an alien look...

Thankfully, that's the only thing Go-botish about this film and it doesn't bother me to much. Hopefully, there will be an explanation for why the autobot and decepticon robot modes look so different.

Well, other than the plot... which is more Gobots than (original) Transformers as well.

No it makes sense to give them visual differences. People who are going to see this movie for the first time with their kinds and seeing the 2 different factions makes sense.

Kids go out of the cinema and tell dad : "Gee daddy , that spikey Barricade was one nasty critter eh?"

Instead of : "Gee daddy , that thing I barely didnt recognize because he looked so similair to the others was one nasty critter eh?"

I'd rather NOT have a rehash of the Transformers Movie.

That's one way to look at it. And it makes sense.

Still, it's always nice when a movie is brave enough to NOT reinforce the idea that your enemy must always look "different"....... especially since the source material made it a point to not do that.

Perhaps that is what we need to understand CFlash.

The time where we loved Generation 1 has come and gone. Everything got replaced by the newer cartoons. More flashier and more action. Thats the same thing happening to this movie. Now , I know you want story and recognizable characters but ... that aint gonna happen , no matter HOW much you nag about it. :(

This movie is supposed to appeal to a bigger audience , a NEW audience. So that our kids pass on the torch and tell there children about the Transformers. Remember , alot of people like change and some dont.

I'm okay with the change , some things do look strange ... but I'm sure I'll be convinced when I see the first transforming robot :)

I'm not so sure about that. Lots of *great* cartoons that came after, like TMNT and Gargoyles followed the same tradition of challenging what looks "bad and good"... even turning it on its head (as in the case of Gargoyles).

My point is that this was a cool thing. Unlike its copycat Gobots, Transformers challenged the idea that the enemy has to look like a skeleton, Alien, or wear evil looking headware (not that I'm dissin Masters of the Universe or G.I. Joe). Why should this movie not respect that (to a greater degree)? Why should this suppossedly more "mature" movie be in many ways stupider than a kid's cartoon?

Be brave! Go for it! X-Men was brave enough to do similar things. It didn't shy away. Why should Transformers? Respect the source material.

Because it succumbs to the same common cliches that other (IMHO weaker) cartoons succumb to. Ugly totally different bad-guys, Super-cool hot-rod main star, very simplistic "Quest" (Macguffin) plot (Gobots/Last Engineer, MOTU/Skeletor trying to get into Castle Grayskull, etc etc).

Transformers challenged all that. And so have most of the truly *great* franchises that came after it (I guess just my opinion) like TMNT, Gargoyles, Teen Titans, etc.

I'm not saying all other cartoons but Transformers sucked (I'm a MOTU fan too). I'm just saying this movie should be faithful to what made Transformers special.

On top of that, there's the obligatory nerd-hawt girl love story, leftover stock characters from Independence Day (macho military guys and their families, incompetent government stooges, tough looking General/President/main guy in charge with a golden heart) and the type of low-brow humor that wouldn't sound out of place in a Wayans brothers movie.

Sometimes I feel like i'm the only one extremely geeked out to see this movie. :)

me three :)

Originally it was a genuine interest, but lately it has been more just to anger CFlash and blind_fury :)

Hey I thought we were agreeing a lot lately? :cwink: Oh well, all good things must end......

...Especially when Hunter Rider closed the only thread where we agreed.
(The following is not directed at you, AyeCapn):
It's a great tactic: Diss japanese Godzilla's 50 years like you know something, diss that stupid kids cartoon from the 80's, Transformers, and rile people up until Hunter Rider closes the thread.
Someone tell the guys at Shootfortheedit real quick!!!

No wonder Nosebleed, Godzilla2000, and a bunch others are nowhere to be seen anymore. I'm beginning to think its about time we leave this forum to Transformers "fans" like Hunter Rider (who think Transformers was cheesy to begin with and this movie rocks on all levels).

Count me in too. I'm so pumped for this movie. Annoying Cflash, and Blind_fury come with the pumpyness.

Very mature,if you have an issue with my decisions come to me privately or hell go to DL or even Dew and complain i have no issue with it,all the other slights towards me here i'm just gonna ignore b/c lets be frank we just plain don't like each other and that's cool with me.

Now i closed the lips thread b/c it was no longer about the faceplate and the lips it was merely the negatron thread meeting the Optimist Prime thread rehashing the same boring arguments over again that have been discussed a hundred times already.

I also think you speaking for Nosebleed is mighty arrogant of you since ive known him ages and he has no issued with me at all.
