Just came back from a screening. Great, awesome, fantastic movie!!! Very moving and touching. One of the best movies that I have watched. Highly recommended!!! I was able to figure out one of the plot twists.
Hector is actually Miguel's great great grandfather, NOT Ernesto. I have learnt my lesson from watching "Blade Runner 2049". Don't assume everything. They want us to believe that Ernesto is Miguel's great great grandfather, hence it won't be.
The other plot twist caught me off-guarded. I didn't expect
Ernesto to be the main villain. And that Ernesto killed Hector and stole the songs that he wrote.
The final act was really really well done. I like how the villain get their retribution. And I really like how I get to learn a lot about Mexican culture in this movie. I find it to be very beautiful and spectacular. I really like the cool, amazing, beautiful spirit animal. It looks like a bear?? with wings. And lastly, I like the great ending about how
Coco remembers her father, Hector. And hence, Hector did not disappear and fade away. And in the end, Coco gets to be with her mother and her father, Hector. It was very heartwarming and touching.
LOL totally didn't see the twist reveal coming, loved it. Beautiful movie. The ending wrecked me.
Loved the Alebrijes spirit animals b-plot, actually wish there was more.
Would have traded those 20min of Frozen Olaf for more of it.
Maybe Héctor having his own trickster/coyote, or simply seeing Coco's Alebrije guide her across.
I still don't know who thought it was a good idea to put a close to half hour episode of Frozen before it. People were getting antsy as ****, as was I. I like the characters but.....yeah.
Oh just you wait 'til the sequel comes out. The ragefest will take over the Internet then.
But yeah, as someone who loves Frozen, have been hearing the new "short" isn't really good. Still, great to know Coco's getting rave reviews, will check it out soon.
YouTube comments section is pretty terrible in general.
IMHO, the Frozen short would've been better as a TV special than showing in theaters because it's longer than your typical short that accompanies a Pixar release. Those are just quick cute little things. Olaf's Frozen Christmas is almost half an hour. And Coco is a family movie, which usually means families want a shorter experience.
Yeah when I found out it was getting released in front of Coco I was surprised. I was also surprised they didn't have a new animated short ready for Coco. I like that tradition.
The short got lots of laughs at my showing and people applauded after. The movie was pretty good then that last act comes in and makes it great. I loved it.
Don't let it deter you. Coco is absolutely worth it. If the short bothers you that much, all I can suggest is getting tickets to a show with reserved seating if possible, then go in about 25-30 minutes after showtime. That should be the start time of the main feature after the trailers and Frozen "short".
People from my left and right were shedding tears. Though for me, I thought the movie was predictable and I knew the twist about the boy's background was coming even before the film revealed it.
I didn't read any spoilers, I just expected/predicted what was gonna happen. I figured why the boy would meet a certain character if not to serve a main purpose in the end.
They should have left the Frozen short as a Christmas special and put a Pixar short ahead of the Pixar movie. Plus, I like Josh Gad but Olaf was a supporting character and he should have stayed that way.
