Days of Future Past Poor 70's Wolverine

So I'm not gonna let this bug me but it occurred to me that "our" Logan shouldn't really exist in the future.

Basically the mission was a success and therefore (alternate) Kitty never had to send Logan back in time and since she didn't have to send him back he didn't have to return to the future and see Jean and Scott alive again.

In BTTF Doc Brown still invented the time machine and Marty accidentally traveled back but in DOFP Kitty never had to send him back so he didn't have to "wake up" in the future (I suppose the alternate Marty McFly who was raised in an alternate home may have never met Doc Brown but the method of tine-travel would allow two Marty's)

Technically shouldn't "our" Logan have ceased to exist once the mission was complete and the future Logan would simply have been the future of the 70s Logan?

I suppose Logan Prime existed outside of time and it was mostly done to show Scott and Jean back again but it could potentially be a big problem.

He is in the same situation Marty McFly is in when he comes back from 1955 to 1985.

Marty is the only one who remembers a past that didn't happen. Marty has childhood memories of his dad being a nerd, his mom being fat and depressed and his brother and sister being boring. But none of that happened after he and Doc Brown corrected the timeline.

Marty is, like Wolverine, a person with memories that belong to a reality that doesn't exist any longer. Quite frustrating, even if the new reality is a better one.

The difference is though is that Alternate Marty still accidentally travelled back in time in the new timeline.

With this, Alternate Logan never travelled back so technically shouldn't have returned.

The OP is kidding right? I mean...he' so attached with an alternate version of Wolverine that only existed for a few seconds that he wants him needlessly brought back just to confuse things?

Ah but if they develop 70s Logan from here on out then it'll all be for nothing as at some point in 2016 he'll be overridden by the previous Logan.

Since when does alternate Marty "accidentally" travel through time???

Same same way our Marty does. Both get into the time-machine to escape the Terrorists, they never intend to go back in time

The rules are established very early on-- Kitty tells him that he'll be the only one who'll remember everything when he wakes up. There's only a "mistake" if you're going by another movie's time travel rules.

I can't really feel bad for him about missing 30 years of his life, he's already lived hundreds (thousands?) of years.

Because oh what I said one post earlier.

Would you like it if you remembered decades of your life in a way that never happened for the rest of the world?

Seems like a small cost to pay to bring back so many of your lost friends and loved ones.

As for the "erased" 70's Logan from the new timeline, yeah, that sucks for him, I guess. It's not like that version of him/his memories will be around to experience his non-existence, lol.

This actually similar to a concern I have regarding trans-humanism to the extreme of transferring your consciousness into a computer, or new body.
The downloaded version of "you" would be a copy of you, not necessarily you.
I mean, from that moment forward, there would be no difference as far as the copy, or the people who continue to know "you" in your new body, but the "you" that existed up to that point would not be continuing forward.

Sort of a lack of forward memory, for lack of a better description.

Not to say that, were I dying anyways, I wouldn't take a shot at downloading myself to a computer or new body, even with uncertainty as to whether or not I will necessarily be the one moving forward.
