The Amazing Spider-Man "Positive Talk" TASM

I was being facetious. There were way way way more haters for that film than this one. It did sound awful though but I would have given Raimi one last shot just like I will give Webb a shot. It doesn't mean I have to have a ***** over that awful suit just like I didn't get one for Vulturess. I am tired of all this "this movie is going to be awesome, Garfield is the best Spidey ever, Webb is a better director than Raimi, woe is me who tries to stay positive against all the haters," crap. SM4 was bashed to no end. Lets wait and see this movie before we pack up and move to a Marc Webb shrine. Webb and Sony have to impress us. If they do then we can all become giddy school girls!!!

PLS NO negative talk in here.

Too add another positive note to this thread...

I Love the suit from The Amazing Spider-man

spiderman_1.jpg

Also, Everyone had a positive reaction to that first pic of the suit, why does everyone hate the suit so much now... ITS THE SAME SUIT!!

People’s opinion on the suit changed (for better or worse) because later pictures showed more of the it. This image only shows his front torso and arms. No mask, legs, feet, or back. All of which (minus the mask) have been the points of contention. So if the first picture only shows the “good side”, of course you’ll see a shift in opinion when the “bad side” is revealed. But even then, there was no global shift in opinion; People have had problems since this image was posted, too. Do you remember the belt debates that raged on?

Yep. I still can see where I thought it looks like the belt has been ripped off. Obviously, it hasn't, because there isn't a belt (well, a front one).

Hrm...I wasn't even around this section during the Spider-Man 4 talk, so I can't say anything on that. How bad was it? I only knew what was going on and it being cancelled, but...how much hate was going on with that film?

Okay, here's some positive talk....Spider-Man 2 was glorious, but I hope The Amazing Spider-Man puts 1 and 3 to shame.

I am insanely excited about this film. And I think everything I've seen/heard so far is epic.

You should take a stroll on the internet one of these days...there are plenty of haters for the Amazing Spider-man...plenty.

I actually wanted Raimi and co to give it another go to see if they could redeem themselves from the disaster that was SM3. But that ship has sailed and now we have something new and fresh to look forward to and I'll be damned if someone tells me I shouldn't be excited for it. There are plenty of things to be excited about.

A quipping Spidey, mechanical webshooters, Lizard, a proper introduction to Gwen Stacy, Capt Stacy; practical effects over CGI as much as possible, Peter's parents, etc. etc. Of course, all these things don't really matter unless they are properly glued together in a nice cohesive way. We'll just have to wait and see.

Something I hope this film does that the others didn't: show me why Pete is so into Gwen. In the other trilogy, we are told he's loved MJ since he was a kid and she's the most gorgeous woman in the world etc etc, but when did they once show the audience why he's into her? Tobey did a great job through facial expressions and body language getting the audience on his side in order to root for them but when looking back, did she ever do anything to make you say "oh yeah that's why they should be together! She's a great girl" ? In the two bond movies where he fell in love I could see why he wanted to be with those two women and why those two got under his skin the way countless others couldn't.

I'm sure Marc Webb will knock that out of the park by making Gwen a more rounded character than MJ was which is a shame cause I think MJ is the better character and definitely belongs with Pete

Agreed...
But still, MJ, in Raimi's series was ment to be this nice girl... To me, she came off as a ****ing cock-tease!. Swear to God, she annoyed many. And I, for one, actually started an applause in the theater, when Peter accidently slapped her in that bar-room! It was like, "Yeah! Finally!". Got great laughter out of that one. I hope we ALL fall in love with Gwen, and understand Pete's obsession with her. Cause MJ in the old franchise, just didn't cut it for me.

That beeing said, I_can't_wait for Webb's Spidey! Everything about it just seems so damn awesome! Garfield as Peter - just genius! The whole cast seems A-list. I think it's in Peter mode where Garfield will truly shine, and make it his own charming/akward Parker. The Spidey persona it self, he'll pull off easily, I'm not worried at all about that. I can't wait to see this movie unfold in it's fullness, and I can't wait to see spidey in glorious 3D-action! Here's a movie that could really make the absolute best use of it, like Cameron did in Avatar! It'll boost the WOW-factor if done right. I think this will also be a surprisingly emotional roller-coaster. Or at least, I hope so. Bring on the next trailer! We're ALL dying here. We know it's coming very soon though. And I think it's with this trailer that they'll really show off what it's all about! (although international trailers seems to do that better, don't they?)

ps. If James Horner really is to score this thing, I'll be so happy! :-)

I just really relate to the character of Peter Parker and everything he has to go through leading up to being Spider-Man, I hope that is explored further in this film, it looks like it will so I'm very glad about that.

I like the moody tone to the film, like how Marc Webb said he wanted to create a world that is the same world as everyone who goes to watch the film. Trying to make it as real as possible.

I cannot WAIT for Andrew's performance as Peter and Spider-Man. He seems born to play that role and I'm sure Emma Stone will bring an interesting sassiness to the character of Gwen Stacy. I'm thinking all the performances in this movie will be awesome. Plus Lizard has been a longtime coming.

It is my most anticipated movie of 2012. I'm not sure I've been so excited for a movie until this one.

Other than some of the other positive things that have been posted in this thread, such as Andrew Garfield's amazing and earnest Comic-Con speech, watching this video gets me really pumped:

I can't believe that this was way back in June. Wow...time is flying by. I was so pumped when I first saw this and it still gives me some goosebumps. I love how excited he is about the role.

I look forward to the characterization of Peter Parker and how he reacts with Gwen Stacy.

Raimi's suit may be more true to the comics... But THIS! This one is without a question the most Badass!

This promo pic is so freaken cool! From the first second I saw it, I smiled. Looks absolutely amazing!

As a lover of the Raimi trilogy, I was vehemently opposed to this reboot. You don't fire Sam Raimi! Come on!
Then I saw the suit.

Argh.

Then I saw the cast...and the trailer...and saw more photos of the suit...and heard about little Oscorp tidbits...and now, well, now I'm having a hard time containing my excitement!

Also, I have a little girl named Gwen (yes, after Gwen Stacy) who is looking forward to a movie she has affectionately dubbed, "The Spider-Man and Gwen movie". I have at least two daddy-daughter dates for the summer planned now (Avengers comes first, period, and her fave character is Cap), so I couldn't be more excited about this!

I miss Raimi, and I loved his interpretation. SM2 is my fave comic film ever. (don't try and change my mind, DK fans. Not happenin') Still...I would LOVE to see something usurp it from the number one spot. Also, I would love to see a more proper attired Green Goblin in the movies, and the things I've heard so far seem to indicate that sequels would lead us in that direction.

Bring it on, I say. Bring. It. On.

^^^^^ This.

I felt the same way when I first heard about the reboot. I was very upset that we wouldn't be getting an SM4 but I did eventually become excited at the propspect of having a Spidey film closer to the comics.

Then I saw the suit. I DID NOT LIKE IT. The first pic I was indifferent to and the set photos made me cringe though I did like, and still do like, the usage of practical web swinging and parkour.

The more I learned about the film and really got to see finished version pics of how the suit would look on film like this one which really began to sway my opinon back in the favor of this film:

spider-man-575.jpg

This particular photo, which (IMHO) screams classic spidey, made be decide to keep hope in this film.

After hearing the good news coming ut of comic-con and hearing how passionate Marc Webb and the cast (ESPECIALLY Andrew Garfield w/ his SDCC speech) were about the film made me really excited.

I really look foward to this film and I don't understand why so many people complain. This film looks great. There are some things one could find to gripe about but usually they are things that have been explained by Webb and co or is going to be explained in the movie.

Anyways, I can't wait until July 3rd.

I really, truly, believe that Webb's Spidey will make Raimi's his *****... Loved spidey 1 & 2!... I think the new movie will re-invent my excitement in aaall new ways!

Great post! I will be a daddy soon when my daughter is born in mid-March. I can't wait. This year is gonna be great.

Oh and since the GG is my fav villain, I am all for having a go at him once again with a new costume, presentation, actor, etc. I just wanna see him be as evil as he should be, create some serious mayhem, and be a real threat to Spidey.

I think so too!

- Garfield is a good actor
- Stone looks dead on as Gwen
- They will use mechs whether that be actual mechs or mechs to augment his organic webs
- a lot of practical work
- Lizard is finally a villain though I much prefer the more vicious snouted lizard
- Sheen is a great actor
- Leary is a great actor

Those are what I am positively positive about.

  • The new suit has better colors, and I like how the lenses are shaped
  • No Elfman. I love his score for Spider-Man, but would love to hear some other composer's take, think they might make a more epic score
  • Gwen Stacey
  • Stan Lee a librarian
  • I haven't watched 500 Days of Summer yet, so I know I don't have any negative opinion on Webb as a director in case I dislike the movie, so don't recommend it for me
  • Wisecracking. Raimi films has 'em, but I heard there will be more here
  • Mechanical web shooters
  • The teaser

(500) Days of Summer is a great film. Dr. Reid is hilarious in it, haha.
