i dont know, but it was better than the matt bashing a few pages ago.

damn you guys using my love of politics against the mods, and i was trying so hard not to add to the flames:(

Your opinions are never safe from our crazed warping of the truth.

Matt,

First, I'm glad you're open to considering I wasn't being hostile (I wasn't trying to be) second, I don't think any of our conversations were about bias. They were actually fact-based if I recall correctly.

So okay, with that out of the way.

I am glad ot hear it. Now that that is out of the way..

What are the last ten great games you've played and why? Who were the project leads, who are the developers/publishers? How did they fit into the demographics and in a larger whole, the publisher portfolio? What were their inspirations? How were their reviews? What engine are they built on and if proprietary, can you think of a middleware that would have been a better solution? List reasons.

Okay, don't list reasons. Don't do any of that stuff. But notice that these are the kind of conversations we have here. Down-in-the-nitty-gritty-details type of things that truly interest our core members here. To the average person, probably yourself, you're thinking "who cares" and that's exactly why this hasn't worked in the past. It's not flaming, trolling or spam. These are actual important topics.

Well, I suppose I could write your essay, but can I do it tomorrow? The Mrs. and I finally got around to renting the Futurama movie and we are quite anxious to watch it. :woot:

I understand that these are important topics for you guys. Hell, they are important to me as I am somewhere between casual and hardcore in the gaming category. Which is why I think I will make a good moderator for you guys. I am not trying to limit discussions. I am simply trying to make this place accessible for everyone. You have to keep in mind, this is essentially a superhero fan site. Which means we get a lot of traffic from children. Children who play games like Bionicle Heroes or TMNT. They see a video games forum and go to town in it. Needless to say...with some of you guys (not pointing any fingers) that doesn't end well. I think though, if we all work together we can find a good middle ground. What say you guys?

I think a clear distinction can be easily made between discussions of that nature and an entire thread consisting of different smiley icons.

Well no mod's filed a complaint for "emoticon" posts so far. However, I've been threatened for what has been misconstrued as an "insubordinate" personality, so I'm going to stick with the topic at hand... "Jerry!". :whatever:

jeez WHF wtf, i love videogames and could list off my fav games, but as for the rest i wouldnt have the foggiest idea. and i do believe, i wouldnt be the only one. he's a mod not a contestant on jepordy.

his job is to:
limit the flame war to reasonable levels
make sure that things dont get too graphic
and give those who think they are above the law the boot

give the guy a break:o he's a mod not the messiah

Well, obviously he didn't read the job description, then. It requires you to have your Messiah Certification Badge and at least a B.S. in Second Coming 101.

If you're talking about a solution that makes communication better here (less worthless threads and/or threads that have no potential for conversation) while not going on a banning spree, it sounds good to me.

Which just gave me a good idea.

1. Merge the console forums into one forum like they used to be. Separating topics by console isn't a solution, it's part of the problem. (No one liked the split when it happened)

2. Rather: Split the forums into

A. Hardcore gaming: For those of us who play games a lot.
B. Casual gaming: For those of us who need a quick run of Tetris to ease off stress.

That way, you separate people who don't really care about games from the ones who do, and the hardcore have the deep conversations about Deus Ex 3 while the casuals talk about what a good strategy for "Zuma" is.

I'm not. I expect to be made an administrator within the next 2 months.

My point was only that there are people who have conversations like that (Me, GFreeman, Zenien, Fenrir, Phaser), and a mod would need to be able to tell the difference between flaming and mere discussion in those kind of realms, is all. Or at the very least consult the two alleged "opponents" if he thinks it's an awful fight.

Guys, I just had "Jiffy Pop" for the first time, and Holy Crap, I am blown away.

Making them IS as fun as eating them!

He's finally lost his mind. :csad:

He was a good soldier and friend. R.I.P. sane Blas.

No, I mean it
It's really fun to make....the popping, THE POPPING!
There's no heart in microwaveable popcorn

Guys, support my splitting of the Forum. Matt would be the greatest contributor to this board since Kritic himself.

I actually like the idea of splitting the forums into those categories, but it is out of my hands. You'd have to bring that up to one of the admins, but you have my support.

well you know? go ahead be an administrator and feel all special with your fancy title see if we care:cmad: im just happy being a non-administrator with limited powers and other non administrator privilages........:csad:

you know i kid right....not going to hold this against me right?????? :woot: .

p.s. according to XtromaniaK you need Messiah Certification Badge and at least a B.S. in Second Coming 101.:woot:

Only more proof that you've severed that last thread of sanity. :csad:

Matt I personally would bless you and send you prayers daily if I believed in that stuff. But since I don't, I'll just say thank you. This forum needs it. Matt isn't some "newb mod". He's on the level. The rules apply to everyone. Don't like it, too bad.

QFT. Matt is a cool dude, and will be a great mod. Dont worry guys. Its not like Morg is here.

That's a pretty decent idea, let me look into it and I'll see what I can do.

I think this can be achieved as long as the deep debates don't involve throwing insults at each other, there is no spamming in breaking posts up and having drawn out debates, the only issue is when the posts are filled with cussing and flaming.

In all honesty, I am not looking to ban anyone.

Wait, but Jiffy Pop is awesome :cmad:

And I just supported WHF in his idea of splitting the forums...I am as sane as Aladdin Sane :ninja:

Actually, that idea about Hardcore gaming and Casual gaming is a great idea.
When you think about it, it's all we've needed all along. :csad:

Soooo many misunderstandings would be avoided altogether.
