Master Xandred, the evil Nighlok leader, has reawakened. And it's up to Red Ranger Jayden and his Mentor Ji to form a new team of Samurai Rangers! Bound to duty by ancestry, Kevin, Mike, Emily and Mia join Jayden in his quest to abolish evil from the world. Soon, the teens must work together, with the help of their inherited symbol powers, to battle and defeat the menacing Nighloks. Meanwhile, Xandred moves forward with his plan to cause the waters of the Sanzu River to rise with human tears and flood Earth. The Samurais must risk everything to keep their friends, family, and civilization safe. Featuring non-stop energy, incredible transformations, and the power of teamwork, these four adventures are filled with serious Samurai action!
Then, a new threat lurks deep from the Netherworld and the future of mankind rests in the hands of the only team with the knowledge and powers to defeat them - The Power Rangers Samurai! Jayden, Kevin, Mia, Mike, Emily and Antonio must battle Master Xandred's menacing Nighloks as they also learn to hone their powers and energies from Mentor Ji. Whether its saving civilians from physically crippling insults, mastering new Megazords and Beetle Cannons, the Rangers must do whatever it takes to bring down the Nighloks. But soon a mysterious new enemy appears on the horizon, intent on battling Jayden. Who will prevail?
With the recent announcement that Saban Brands had signed a deal with Shout! Factory to release all the Power Rangers shows on DVD from 1993's Mighty Morphin' to 2009's R.P.M., fans of the most recent incarnation of the long-running program have been wondering about 2011's Power Rangers Samurai. Well, we've got good news for you! However, it may be a bit of a surprise when you learn it will be coming from another studio.
Today, Lionsgate Entertainment informed retailers that June 19th will see the releases of both Power Rangers Samurai - Vol. 1: The Team Unites and Power Rangers Samurai - Vol. 2: A New Enemy. Each single-disc release runs 92 minutes, and costs $14.98 SRP per title. These items are presented in widescreen video, with English 5.1 Dolby Digital audio, and closed captioning. Package art for each of them is seen below, showing off the new team in uniform.
Noticeably missing from the front of the boxes, though, is fan-favorite character "Farkas 'Bulk' Bulkmeier," played by Paul Schrier...who originated "Bulk" in the first episode of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and continued as a regular recurring cast member all the way through the end of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy (and who also briefly appeared in the legendary "Forever Red" episode of Wild Force). Well, it's great to know that Bulk's back for Samurai, even if he's not on the cover art! Maybe he's on the back of the box? Time will tell.
