Not surprising why, the movie was a joke and in and out of theatres just like the two AVP films. Barely made more than AVP 2.

dug the movie, but the misleading trailer with the multiple plasma cannon targets on brody's chest was slightly infuriating.

I still thought it was good for what it is and for some reason I felt like they were holding back a bit on what they set out to do with this sequel like maybe they had bigger ideas but due to budget concerns they held off.

They were for sure holding back. In the script, there is a few really cool scenes taken out. Possibly due to budget. An entire chase with Mr. Black and the Falcon.
