Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

It looks like the gameplay will be following in the footsteps of the PS2/Xbox trilogy, which IMO is a good thing. I miss how tight those games played and how well their stories flowed. (Well, except for Warrior Within, which while being a fun game was not nearly as good as the other two thanks to its Shadow the Hedgehog esque baditude.)

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is the next chapter in the fan-favorite Sands of Time universe. Visiting his brother’s kingdom following his adventure in Azad, the Prince finds the royal palace under siege from a mighty army bent on its destruction. When the decision is made to use the ancient power of the Sand in a desperate gamble to save the kingdom from total annihilation, the Prince will embark on an epic adventure in which he will learn to bear the mantle of true leadership, and discover that great power often comes with a great cost.

Game features include:

• Classic Gameplay Reinvented: From huge-scale multi-enemy combat to dizzying feats of acrobatic prowess in gigantic environments enhanced by the Prince’s ability to control nature and time, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will push the Prince’s prodigious abilities to unseen levels.

• A Blockbuster Experience: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will offer players unforgettable set pieces made possible by the advanced technology offered by the award-winning Anvil engine. With all-out war at the gates of the kingdom, the Prince’s abilities will be challenged like never before through the course of epic wow moments.

• Mastery Over Nature: Wielding powers of nature and time, the Prince will have unparalleled mastery over his environment and his enemies. The Prince will discover that harnessing the forces of nature itself will prove to be a devastating companion to his ability to rewind time.

• Return of a Fan-Favorite Franchise: Set between Prince of Persia The Sands of Time and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will provide fans a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe and deepen their understanding of the Sands of Time series.
The versions for Wii(TM), Nintendo DSi(TM) and DS(TM) as well as the PSP® system will feature a different gaming experience from the versions for Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 system. More details will be unveiled in the near future.

Sounds Awesome.:woot:

Sweet pics!:woot:

God im so stoked they are revisiting the SoT gameplay. Cant wait!

The trailer looked pretty cool, and clearly they're going with the movie.

As long as it brings back the gameplay of Sands of Time, I can deal with anything they toss at us. But, the puzzles and the platforming will be key for me. It could be a shameless movie tie-in for all I care, as long as it's very Sands of Time-esque I'm happy.

I think everyone would be, honestly.

Hmmm I dunno... All this talk about the Prince controlling nature...I smell a gimmick. And i hope the in game character's face looks a damn sight better than the one in the trailer.

Great to see the old Prince back... but yeah I really hope they improve those graphics.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. Returning to the SoT story is all well and good, but saying it's returning to the SoT spirit and actually getting there are very different things. Not even the direct sequels to SoT recaptured the charm and wit of the first game to me; and if this is functioning as a tie-in to the movie--which also doesn't really look charming or witty at all--I'm a bit skeptical to how well it'll balance the SoT feel (if it can even manage to reach that level in the first place) and the movie influence.

Im bitter that they dropped the new series in favor of going back to this one. Aside from the first game, I really didnt care for its sequels

Well the Sands of Time was far better than the most recent PoP. That alone is enough to go back to the previous trilogy. The recent PoP was good, but it wasnt the right direction for this series after the stellar Sands of Time.

IDA. I preferred the new one. Its flaws were not major and nothing that couldnt have been ironed out in a sequel. The story was intriguing and setting was gorgeous. Elika was one of the best new characters to come out of that year and worth seeing again. The Sands of Time was a great game but it makes the entire trilogy overrated as its 2 sequels were not. Its best they leave it in the past and move forward and improve upon the foundation they created in 2008. This new game is obvious an attempt to cash in on the new movie and hopefully they do go back to the 2008 series for the next title

Elika was basically the only part of the recent game I liked. It'd be cool if we could get her and the SoT Prince together for a game. :hehe:

I defiently preferred her over Farah. It would be cool if she made a cameo appearance in this game

yea I wanted to see where they would go for the sequel to the recent prince of persia game, we couldve seen a game with as much improvement as assassin's creed 2 had over the original, as havok said the flaws with PoP of this generation werent that big and could easily be fixed and with the way the game ended, I definitely wanted to see where the story would go next, if u played the epilogue dlc then the ending definitely set up a potential direction for a sequel, I hope ubi comes back to this series eventually, and the sooner the better

So he's pretty much going to have combined the powers from the sands and whats-her-faces from the last PoP game? Seems interesting.
