Prince of Persia:The Sands of Time

Metal Gear would be awesome, so long as it's streamlined and just boiled down to focused themes.

How's God of War's story? I've never played a GoW game before. Been thinking about getting that new GoW Collection coming out.

Btw, I really enjoyed the trailer. It looked very promising. The Prince even sounds like The Prince from the game, so that was a pleasant surprise. I'm happy they didn't go the route that the NEW Prince of Persia game went.

I would strongly recommend the GoW Collection, its worth it. Both games for $40 and a Demo for the game aswell.

Anyone have a screenshot from behind the prince as he looks over the city?

Yeah, that's also what you had to do in AC also. Climb up and check out the area to get leads on your assignment.

I know, just saying for those who didn't play the new PoP game aswell.

Been a long, LONG time since I played the game on the Commodore 64 and Snes but this looks pretty faithful, also looks pretty good and Gemma Arterton looks stunning!

it kinda looks like they took the glowing signs on his body from the two thrones. i hope we see that manifestation of him.

Awesome spot Project862006! The trailer in HD is crystal clear. I loved it. The fight scenes look epic and I loved hearing directly from Mechner and Bruckheimer in that Q&A. Thanks for the share guys!

Yo LegendofZelda Imma let you finish, but Prince of Persia is gonna be the greatest sword and sorcery movie based on a videogame of all time!

Well you know, I try. :woot:

But seriously though Gyllenhaal is not Persian.

This has been discussed and argued for many pages in this thread. We know already...get over it. Not to mention a number of posters who are of actual Persian descent pointed out that a lot of Persians are not incredibly dark skinned as so many people think and that Gyllenhaal can actually pass as one for the most part.

As long as the movie is good or at least somewhat entertaining, I could care less that he was cast.

Exactly.

I'm all for discussing casting decisions and whatnot but it always gets messy and bogged down when some racial aspect is involved.

So many movies I've followed have been plagued by this. A bunch of discussions on "The Last Airbender" turn into a "she/he is not supposed to be (race/ethnicity) but (race/ethnicity) this is absolutely preposterous!"

The same happened here a while back. Thankfully the trailer has kind of caused that to fade away a bit.

It's not so much about race for me as it is about an actor looking the part, and going by that I do suppose that Gyllenhaal looks enough like the prince. Still, would have been nice to have a Persian actor be cast, but I understand that this topic has been run into the ground so I'll leave it at that.

first ironman 2, he-man the a-team and now prince of persia moive. this summer is going to be aweosme.

THE WHITE KNIGHT, WHITE SAVIOR, WHITE HERO. It’s not uncommon too see white actors playing ethnic roles from all walks of life. This degrading practice has been going on since the beginning of the motion picture industry. When there’s a perfect opportunity to diversity Hollywood films, execs feel more comfortable with the color white. Sadly white washing still lingers on in the 21st century.

If I was a 10yr old Persian kid watching the upcoming POP and found out later on in life that my childhood Persian hero was played by a white actor, I would be devastated. People who aren’t minorities in America or never grew up with a diverse group of people fail to understand how minorities are being underrepresented in the media.

well they offered the role to a Persian actor and he turned it down Jake was not there 1st choice

I didn't know Persians have British accents? :p
Alfred Molina
Ben Kingsley
Gemma Aterton

Jake Gyllenhaal is sorta doing an accent to match.

I know the director Mike Newell is British, but come on!
