Problems with the movie.

-There are no above ground trains like that in new york. What the hell?

and

- Spiders are not bugs, harry and others continuously call spider-man a bug or the bug. It would be 'arachnid'.

And that is proof that this is a horrible movie. I can not sit back and watch a movie where they constantly call a spider a bug or when they blatantly use train lines that don't exist.
I know some will say that this is a comic book movie and that we should just accept this, but I can not.

I am moderatly upset and displeased. They should have stayed truer to the comic books. The 616 New York isn't that train-filled. And New Yorkers are louder and more obnoxious in the comics and in real life. They would be screaming and freaking out when they thought Spidey was dead not standing over him, and one of the people would be taking a picture of Peter with his mask off, with their cell phone while he was laying there. Another person would be like "Dude..He totally *****ing stopped a train!! holy **** dude!!!". Because of this drastic change from the comics to the movie, I can not enjoy the film.

If you can, that's cool, but I can't. Wait, what am I saying?! If you don't agree with me then you are not a true Marvel New York or Marvel Trains fan. You also are disrespecting Spider-man's spider-ness by accepting people calling him a bug. Arachnids have 8 legs while bugs have 6. That's basic biology and a movie that is in many ways a science fiction, that's just not right. This is a travesty of justice. I'm gonna sue!!

Seriously, did Sam Raimi put you up to this?

SM1 and SM2 are adequate Spider-man movies but nothing more. I'm afraid many wont realize how mediocre these films are until an imaginative director, who "gets" Spidey, makes a superior Spider-man film. Then and only then will you realize that Raimi's movies are pretty basic and uninspired.

What's you're deal, blind_fury? Obviously you're name matches your persona as you didn't look and watch the first two movies.

Spider-Man 1 is getting slightly boring though.

Spider-man 2 is caustic to the eyes brain, and I'll tell you why.

The whole Aunt May hanging on the building by her umbrella.

The scene with the saws and Dock Ocks arms.

The fact that his arms talk to him.

The fact that Aunt May lived in that house as long as she probably did, yet wasn't done paying off the house.

The fact that an explosion which would level NYC is harmless underwater.

The fact that about 30 people, including those in the train, figured out Spidey's identity in about 15-20 minutes. Lame.

The "Barbara Walters Fog Screen" thing going on when MJ leaves the church at the end.

And......must I remember it........Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. Good lord, kill me quickly. That ruined Spidey for me for a couple of months. I couldn't stand to look at a single issue. It still makes me shudder.

Must I go on? It is a ridiculous film, full of people doing and saying stupid things.

I have a complaint too. If someone got bit by a radioactive spider (or a 'genetically altered' spider) they probably wouldn't become Spider-Man.

There. That's about as dense as the original complains. I win.

No you mustn't, because: His arms don't talk to him, he thinks they do. Have you ever heard of schizophrenia? :)

It was supposed to show that MJ loved Peter and would stop at nothing to get with him.

I hate it when people overanalyse ;)

It's pretty clear the arms DID talk to him, hence him saving the day at the end.

Now, if at the end of the film after being shocked by the cable and Peter gives his speech...if then Octopus just laughed and continued to kick his ass, that would have been cool. A kinda twist ending to the whole cliche bit that Raimi threw at us.

i have a complaint also:

Harry tells Doc Ock that in order to find Spider-Man he must find Peter first. Doc Ock finds Peter with Mary Jane in the cafe and throws a car through the window straight at them. Any normal man would've been killed instantly, and Doc Ock doesn't know that Peter is Spider-Man. Given that Peter is his only lead on Spider-Man, it makes no sense that Doc Ock would effectively try to kill him?

My question is - How did Octopus hurl the car through the front of the place without anyone outside seeing him do so, then run down the side street inwhich he made his debut? I mean the crowd outside were simply staring at the car sitting inside the cafe, and were quite surprised when Octopus came rounding the corner of the side street...The case of the vanishing Octopus.

Hahaha! Didn't you see? It was an in construction train. Though it did pass a station, it's really only there for dramatic purposes (though I have never been to New York, so I wouldn't really know.)

nah. there are a few above ground train lines (7 line), but they're aren't any above ground train lines like the one we saw in the movie

well said.Yeah when the day comes where we get a good director who can make a spidey movie loyal to the source material the whole world will know that a great spidey film has been made.Kinda like how people who loved the burton batman movies so much are finally opening their eyes and realising his movies arent that good at all now that hollywood redeemed themselves with Batman Begins. We can only hope the same thing will happen in the future with Spider-man.

I don't know if your joking, but i'll risk it.

Octavious to Press: "Which is why i creted this neural inhibitor to protect my higher brain functions. It lets me control the arms, instead of "THEM". controling me."

So, there you go. The arms have a 'neural AI', so it is possible they they could speak to him, by communicating directly to his brain.

A Raimi COCK UP. That should never have happened. Doc Ock was a villian who was never influenced by his arms. He did what he wanted. Raimi, you're an idiot.

Damn right. Unfortunatley, Spiderman is so big, that you can put any piece of junk to the name and it will be the best thing ever. Just becasue the films called spiderman, has the powers and suit (but non of the characters we know - except JJ), doesn't mean it's a great film. Comics great, cartoons great (90's spidey especially) PS computer games great... films... so bad for spiderman.

I was one of these people who got caught up in the hype (not the site lol) of the movie and was saying it's the best thing ever. Then it died down, and noticed flaws with it. Though, spidey 1 is a decent origin film, even if major, very annoying changes, where made.

Spidey 2 was the same. Then my word, when i started to watch it again, i couldn't believe it. What a load of rubbish. Wooden acting, terrible Dialogu, unnecsary character changes (Doc Ock with a wife and arms that talked to him) and amazingly, barely any spidey, and also, he lost his powers bacsue of MJ... AAAHHHHHHHH.

If anything, Batman Begins showed how you could tell a great Origins film, show character development and show the superhero alter ego in equal measures. Yes, it is flawed. A little rushed in, choppy editing, awjkward fights. But, GREAT acting, wonderful dialogue (the love dialogue between Rachael and Bruce isn't great, but it is shakepear compared to MJ and Pete).

X-Men, Batman and the original Superman are all superior films to Spiderman 1 and 2. And that should never have been the case. Spidey is the most popular hero in the world, and deserves a great film series to showcase this. Unfortunatley, we have yet to see it. If Raimi doesn't deliver in 3, then he should be kicked out, and i would vote for a restart of the franchise, and fix the mistakes Raimi made.

But even if the film is GOD awful, it will still make 500-800 million worldwide, and people will say it's the greatest superhero film ever made... because it's Spiderman. No one can look past the name.

hope spidey 3 is amazing, i really do. My fingers are crossed. But, if we get spidey 2 again, or worse... lets not even think it.

It was supposed to show that MJ loved Peter and would stop at nothing to get with him.

Alright, so where were her heart and brains through out the rest of the whole sequel then?

Lol, I love how Dock Ock and Smeg repeat the same thing they said in a different thread. Not that I won’t do the same in a few words from now. Seriously, I believe we are the only few who actually keep trying to open the eyes of all those ignorant people out there.
So, again, I’ll say that I sincerely enjoyed SM1. It was a much watered down version of the comic book material but I could and still can sit through it every half a year (the period I usually rewatch those movies ^_^ ).
And the only reason why I keep the SM2’s Doctor Octopus poster on my wall is because of Dr. Octopus. Plus action and drama not related to MJ in any way. Everything else was crap, except a few other actors of course.
Anyway, I found that my opinion very much coincides with Dock Ock’s as far as SM2 is concerned.

And now for my own silly complain:
Meant not e taken extremely seriously but…seriously? How could they possibly have achieved such a screw up?
When Peter first met Dr. Octavius, he told him that the mind isn’t a privilege. It’s a gift to be used for the good of mankind. When Spidey recites the very same words to him near the end of the movie, Dr. Octopus agrees and says that it IS a privilege.
Were any of them, especially Sam, reading the script at that moment?

lol

True, we do bring the same stuff sometimes, but only because they're SO obvious, and people can't accept it. If they like the films, fine. But how can anyone say it portrayed the characters from the comics.

Beats me. Obviously, Raimi thinks there is a point to it... but then, my respect for him has gone down a touch for it.

For the morons who couldnt tell that Chinese food was joking:

there are above ground subways in new york city. and construction lines. but mainly, theyre subways.

your 2nd paragraph was pretty funny too.

im gonna pick on DocOck here cause hes reallllllllly lame sometimes:

Just for the record I love the Spider-Man movies, despite the flaws.TheVileOne knows this.He just likes to 'forget' sometimes and make a provocative remark to spark a reaction.Tsk tsk.

The pros of SM-2:

-Alfred Molina as Doc Ock
-Rosemary Harris,J.K. Simmons and James Franco having bigger and better parts in the story.
-The action scenes
-The costumes (except Kirsten Dunst's.She looked like s*** for most of the movie)

mmmmmmmmmk first, Alfred Molina--He sucked as doc ock, since doc ock is like um this thing(its called insane). As far as i was concered, molina gave a mildly angry preformance, far from insane.

Aunt May, J.J.J, and Harry Osborn (until hes gg2) shouldnt have bigger parts. The movie is called spider-man, not spider-man and his amazing friends who have boring subplots about newspapers and new houses.

The action scenes were ok

and the costumes were basicly the same from the last movie except for when peter parker became a nerd again.

Doc Ock said:
The cons:

-Too much comedy.Peter Parker was practically reduced to a walking clown of mishaps
-All about the girl again. The movie dragged in the middle with all the slow, dreary Peter/MJ 'drama'.If Ock hadn't shown up at the cafe scene I would have fallen asleep.
-MJ is nothing like the MJ of the comics.Dunst is a whiney, glorified drama queen who looked like hell for 90% of the movie.
-Spider-Man hardly spoke a word when fighting Ock.Quips, where are the infamous Spider-Man quips???
-Peter loses his powers because of the girl.Yes he does. It's all because of MJ.Not Aunt May,not Harry, not his rent problems.Just the girl. How lame. He's weak.
-Bastardizing Doc Ock.The biggest flaw of them all.A good scientist manipulated by his own invention and then turns good at the end, lets Spider-Man go and saves the city by destroying his ultimate creation.Jesus christ that is soooooooo wrong for soooooooo many reasons.

A walking clown of mishaps? Thats the dumbest phrase i have ever heard.

Why is drama in quotes in your second con? The whole peter parker giving up his powers to be with mj was a valid plot point but had bad writing, bad directing, and bad acting.

Quips dont exist in the spiderman movies...its just a fact.

In your last con, you used way to many "o's" in each 'so' you wrote.

gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood job picking up on the joke that is this thread, buddy

 WTF!?!?!?!?!?!? Either these boards have become populated with geniuses and they're speaking over my head.... or... my God has the gene pool been drained lately.

Now which could it "EVER" be.... :D

hey, whoevers reading this, did the 2nd movie suck, or was it good?

my vote is with total suckage.

if thats a word, i dont think it is.

lol.

Although there are several continuity errors with Spider-Man 2, I think that Spider-Man fans, and fans of other super-heros, can at least agree on the fact that, as a piece of cinematography, it is a strong film. However, with a debut into film as well written as Spider-Man 1 was, there have been certain 'let-downs' within its sequel. Not necessarily within the plot, character inclusions, or acting, but within the story which is being told. Spider-Man 1 was liked by so many fans ( I hope ) because the tale it told was so close to the original Spider-Man v. Green Goblin story.

Doc Ock made his Spider-Man debut as the Master Planner; a fact which I am certain many Spider-Man fans know. His origins, however, were explained much later in the comics. Sam Rami refuses to explore the path that villains already exist within Spider-Man's world. Instead, working with his writers, he tries to exhibit the idea that villains are spawned after the hero. Yet, I believe he should consider the idea that villains could have come before the hero. Villains do not come because of heros, rather, heros come because of villains.
