Prometheus - Part 2

That's because there's a 120 year gap between the event of those films. I think Ridley Scott himself said they where.

I dont think Alien and Blade Runner take place in the same universe at all. This is just fanboy fiction born from a few comments made by Scott which he didn t think of what it causes when he made them.

Ash an Replicant? That d be DEVOLUTION since Batty, Leon and Pris are much more advanced than Ash. I mean they have actual BLOOD instead of that milky liquid. Also Batty and Co. have much more of a free will.

Why do fanboys always have to make up some weird connections between everything? Blade Runner is a stand alone movie.

If not, one could also say Minority Report takes place in the same universe...or even Star wars in a galaxy far far away.

Where shall that end?

Take a chill pill.

Ash isn't a replicant, replicants are organic, Ash is closer to a Terminator than a replicant.

Amen, bro

Yeah...a sh**ty Terminator.
If Ash was supposed to be some kind of killbot, he failed miserably on all levels. Hell, even Bishop was better than Ash, and Bishop was a ****ing wuss.

How does this affect you?

How does a sci-fi movie mash-up affect the other movies, period? Trying to shoehorn Blade Runner (or any other sci-fi movie) into the Aliens universe has absolutely no effect on either movie, so why even bother doing it in the first place? What the **** would it even remotely matter if kickass Tyrell replicants somehow devolved into measly Weyland-Kutani androids over the course of a century or so?

Like Thedudehimself said, it's just fanboy *********ion.

The replicants are completely different, I agree.

It's a stretch to try to make both worlds fit. There is nothing connecting them.

1. Because Scott said it had connections.

2. It doesnt. So why do people care if people connect the two anyway?
How does it affect anyone life in any way possible if others connect stuff in their own mind? Again, it doesnt. I dont get how one could be so upset about that.

Its like ragin about fanfics. Complete waste of time.

Ah yes, I forgot why I'd even came here today haha

EDIT:
Beaten by a page

Re. Rapaces interview: It sound like really intense shoot. And only two green-screen-scenes sounds awesome!

Where? Where did Scott say Blade Runner and Alien were connected?

Where this whole fanboy B.S. got started was the fact that some viewers found out that some of the props and computer imagery from Alien were recycled in Blade Runner. And this is surprising....how, exactly? Sci-fi fx men have been "borrowing" props from other movies (including their own) since the very beginnings of cinema. If that meant that the movies were connected, than ALL of sci-fi cinema is one big shared universe.

In the Blade Runner Final Cut commentary track. And I'm not 100% sure but I think he talks about it in the Alien commentary track as well.

Seeing something so human as that sculpture on an total alien planet is indeed a very eerie and scary thought, I hope Ridley latched on those feelings with his character and brings it to the audience.

I also hope the film is more subtle and vague when it comes to explaining things and in it's own story. I hate when movies explain too much. Just keep the whole aliens engineering humans plot-point a bit up in the air. I want some mystery here!

Yeah, Scott's just a goofy old man who never really thinks his comments through. Kinda like how he said in a commentary that he'd like to make a film about the space jockeys. Surely, he'd never do that. :oldrazz:

There's no reason to be so dismissive of what Scott said. I don't recall him giving any indication that he was joking or something like that. You argue that Ash is a devolution because he has white blood and lacks free will, but you're assuming that free will is a good thing. You don't seem to consider that he is exactly what the civilization in Blade Runner wanted - an unquestioning slave. The replicants were "more human than human," which is why they rebelled against their creators to find freedom, to try to achieve a normal human lifespan, etc. Ash would never do that... all of that is irrelevant to him. He is an unquestioning servant to the Company, and his every action in the movie furthered their agenda; from the perspective of the Company, he's definitely more evolved than a replicant, who would have likely jetted off in the Narcissus long before the Nostromo made it anywhere near LV-426.

If Scott mentioned it then there is some truth to the matter. These people getting pissed off about it should chill out. It doesn't effect them in anyway personally what people think about these films and how they connect them. Before they start burning people at the stake perhaps they should listen to the commentaries then form an opinion on the matter.

This plot point reminds me of the Halo Universe when arriving to the topic of The Forerunners -- the creators. These enlighten highly-intelligent beings even instituted an 'Ark' too.

It's an exhilarating and yet frightening concept; to discover that humanity's origins do not root from a divine presence or natural evolution. Instead, the human race was simply a creation or invention by another race in the universe for whatever unique circumstance or purpose.

Since the beginning of time, man has stated that humanity was created in the image of God. However, the image of God may be another specie of humanoid with a biological/chemical set and ant farm.

When you really think about it, it only adds more mystery, it doesn't take it away.

Trailer has intrigued me. Alien is still my favorite from the Alien series.

I tend to lean towards the MIB closing with giant aliens playing with marbles that are in fact several universes including our own!

In lieu of the Blade Runner/Alien debate, both films also share the PURGE! screen. It appears at the end of Alien, and in the Spinner at the beginning when Deckard gets in with Gaff to go see Bryant. Nice little touch.

The Minority Report film began its life as a sequel to Total Recall did you know that?

Sorry just a random thought.

Just to chime in.... Scott did mention a connection about how he could imagine it being the same universe. He said he could imagine the space truckers from Alien docking and going for an off-shift drink in the snake bar. I've watched both films with commentary a few times because I think Scott has interesting things to say in them. O and he also says about Ash '...basically a replicant...'

I'm not sure if this has been brought up, but a guy on another forum I go to pointed out that it seems that a dead Space Jockey is being examined by the crew in this shot:

PROM-001.jpg

You can see the creatures corpse on the right hand side, and possibly it's head being examined by the crew?

Yeah...a sh**ty Terminator.

.

He wasn't a ****ing kill-bot. HE COULD KILL if he needed too...but he was...GLITCHY.

I'll repeat.

GLITCHY. GLITCHING OUT. MALFUCNTIONING.

Maybe you should watch Alien again. Hmm? He could've easily taken Parker. He grabed his tit, almost ripped his chest out.

Alien feature the most painful nipple cripple in cinematic history.

I just finished watching alien with commentary and I never noticed that the "rape"shot within lambert's death scene was actually a leftover shot from Brett's death scene. They just recolored the pants to match Lambert's.
