Prometheus - Part 2

It looked to me like at the point where one of the crew is leaping into the air if you pause he's leaping on something white with a bald head- maybe a Space Jockey/Engineer. Or it could just be a bad quality image.

That was a great trailer. Can't wait to see the real deal.

Derelict at 0:46?

i love to have long debates about budgets for movies that are FINISHED. but for a movie that is still 6 months in post production ? i think not.

i hope the trailer will be realesed this week. the quality is to bad for me to watch it.

They're testing out trailers. I was once at Books-A-Million a couple of years back and was stopped by a lady who guided me toward the cafe area. She was doing surveys on movie trailers and she wanted me to pick a few that hadn't been released to the public. I ended up watching one for Righteous Kill.

And that's likely what you were seeing was someone filming those trailers on their iphones or droids.

It's probably from a survey website.

really?

Star Trek
Moon
Source Code
Sunshine
District 9
Inception
Avatar
Melancholia
Attack The Block

just to name a few from past couple years

yes there is crappy ones every genre has them but i have seen more good than bad

Avatar rules.

But on-topic.

Absolutely love the trailer. And Alien is my number one favorite movie of all time.

Seeing the Derelict and the SJ chair rising up made me geek out. And that horn sound from the first Alien trailer helps so much with the atmosphere. Footage looks great and it is a very dramatically effective teaser.

I love Noomi's delivery of "I WAS SO WRONG, I WAS SO WRONG", chill inducing.

Overall :awesome:

Star Trek - Good
Moon - Very Good
Source Code - Good
Sunshine - Meh
District 9 - Had potential
Inception - Very Good
Avatar - Wasn't a fan
Melancholia - Meh
Attack The Block - Had potential

Of course keep in mind these are just my opinions. I'd argue a couple of those films are more fantasy based than pure sci-fi also.

Even with the crappy quality that teaser has me pumped. Love the call back to the original Alien trailer with how it's edited.

This is my most anticipated movie.

Finally, it's time for Ridley to show Cameron how it's done.
This feels like a taking back of a mantle, for me. A boxer taking his heavyweight belt back.

Meanwhile, Nolan will be smiling hugely at this. Ridley Scott is his ultimate hero, and Alien and Blade Runner were HUGE influences for him.

In my mind, between Prometheus and Inception, this is like a battle cry against all this Transformers / Avatar crap.

I don't know if Ridley Scott is Nolan's ultimate hero but he's certainly one of his top inspirations. I'm pretty sure George Lucas Star Wars (IV) is his biggest.

Why all the trashing of Cameron? Cameron is an amazing director and there's no reason to trash him. Terminator/T2, Aliens, and Avatar are amazing sci fi films in their own right.

I never understood the point in bashing any of these guys seeing as all three of these men are masters within a genre that has mostly bust than hits. Really immature quite honestly.

Why all the trashing of Cameron?.

Because he made a very popular movie, and most people think if they talk **** about things that are popular, they will appear cooler and more intelligent. Because everyone knows that popular things are totally lame and only the stupid masses like that kind of stuff.

It's funny how one movie (Avatar) can make some people dismiss Cameron's previous work. It's very fickle.

I'm not a huge Avatar fan, but I still can love Aliens and Terminator 1 and 2.

You don't even know. I have a friend who used to be a giant Cameron fan, but after Avatar, he completely dismisses everything he's ever done except the first Terminator.

People have preferences and want to say "mine is better than yours." Granted, I do prefer Scott and Nolan (though I'm not sure how he ended up here) to Cameron. But that's because I find Cameron's style to be very heavy-handed and over-the-top with lots of archetypal writing....but they are sure entertaining and impeccably made most of the time.

But in this thread in particular, it is about a return to the style of Alien which was very restrained, atmospheric, cerebral and even sexually menacing. Many prefer it to Cameron's crackerjack roller coaster of an Aliens movie. I like both, but do prefer Scott's take which was far scarier and more thought provoking. I hope Prometheus is as rewarding a movie, as well.

Looks pretty good. Dark and on a much serious tone. I hope the fear and paranoia is on a high in this film. Sure seems like it.

I can never be a hipster because I love mainstream things far too much.

Ohhh, I need to make a shirt that says that haha.

I've tried, up 'til now, to stay clear of details on this. Then I saw the trailer leak and magazine scans.

It looks amazing. Can't wait.
