Prometheus - Part 4

Not to mention those same "fans" probably loved every minute of ME3 on up until the ending. "WHAT! This game/movie/book/tv show didn't end the way I wanted it to. I DEMAND MAH MONEY BACK FOR THIS GARBAGE"

I don't see how a true ME fan could like the ending. I understand why ME fans feel betrayed and let down. But... let's not turn this into a ME thread...

Here's some further reading for you ME fans:

"Fans are pissed because, as I said, Mass Effect is all about choice and consequence, and being given three unnervingly similar cut-scenes which entirely fail to address a single facet of the individual Shepard's journey is either insulting, or not an ending at all. Fans have formed and rallied behind the #retakemasseffect movement, a movement with thousands upon thousands of vocal supporters, and who are donating to the charity Child's Play all the while."

Speaking of endings... How can I possibly love Prometheus knowing that garbage ending that is Alien Resurrection?? I will be spending the whole film thinking about just that!!! :cwink:

On a serious note are any other people a little disappointed that Mr. Scott wanted to go a different look for this film then Alien's look just because he was tired of the look? No real reason for it just... meh.. didn't feel like it.

I was hoping for another gritty Alien dirty apple computer awesomeness film.

Well, technology has changed since Alien was made. They didn't have sexy HD monitors and stuff back then.

I have major OCD for continuity between anything. Believe me it kills me.

The Space Jockey being the bad guy still doesn't make sense considering in the first movie, they found that it was sending out a warning beacon. So for them to use the xenomorphs as a biological weapon doesn't make much sense if they didn't think to destroy them when they got out of hand...
Well, all we know is that the signal came from the Jockey's ship. We don't know that the SJ was the one that sent it. If this is indeed the same vessel that we see in Alien, it could be that the Prometheus crew were the ones that sent the warning.

I know I'm late to the party but I just wanted to throw in how excited that trailer made me for the movie. I can't believe how good it looks.

And I wonder if I'm alone in only liking the original Alien and none of its sequels? I am so looking forward to another adventure into this world with Scott directing.

Even if Scott did it for the sake of change there is a "canon" explanation if you consider the fact that the Nostromo was a commercial freighter not an scientific expedition ship which would account for the more used/gritty sort of look of the ship itself and their equipment compared to the Prometheus and its crew.

The change makes sense according to story. Previous alien films were about blue-collar space tugs, colonial marines, and prison planets. This one is about a science/exploration vessel on a lofty mission to establish first contact....makes sense that their ship would be a lot cleaner/more hi-tech.

I recall reading that the Space Jockeys were peaceful. Not anymore I guess.

If they're peaceful, why did one of them have a cargo full of planet-destroying xenomorph eggs? Bioweaponary at its finest.

I still love the kind of Dracula-like idea of it being destroyed by its own cargo and being found "tied to the mast" to the bitter end. Very eerie, in my opinion.

The difference in design won't bother me much. Alen featured space truckers. Aliens was military. This features a privately owned scientific vessel. I don't mind it being a bit more upscale.

Has Mr. Scott even said what he thinks of Aliens? I am a bit curious if he prefers the Queen or his egg method.

As for the Space Jockey... they probably accidentally let one loose and called for help themselves.

That gritty look and feel is still there IMO. It's a scientific expedition so a bit of technological advancement doesn't bother me, particularly as it is funded by Weyland Industries.

Hmm, that's a good point. :o

I'm so happy Noomi is getting mass market exposure. She blew me away when I saw her in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. She's a damn good actress and it pleases me to no end to see her in more and more films.

I may be misremembering this, but I recall reading somewhere that they had found the xenomorph eggs, and were taking them to study them. Until everything went horribly wrong.

Okay, apparently that was the novelization, which isn't necessarily canon.

From what I remember, the Xenomorph Eggs were used as bio-weapons in their own Civil War. It's also speculated and implied in the novels/comics that The Ossians (Space Jockeys) were responsible for engineering the entire Xenomorph race.

I wouldn't rely on the comics or novels, their status in canon is highly questionable.

I wouldn't say that completely. Ridley made a few subtle comments regarding the Space Jockeys' bio-engineering, Xenomorph Prime, the origins of Xenomorphs, etc.

It's arduous to say whether or not Scott will use a few of the elements from the comics and novels.

plus lets not forget that its meant to look retro. the ship. and i like this so much. by going back and use 70/80's designs they were able to make it look like something original. i mean its fresh compared to other scifi movies fro mthe last 10 years.

LOL, little do they know we've nearly drained the earth dry of fertile soil and nonrenewable resources. :hehe:

The company sent the Nostromo to the planet, the company knew something was down there. Why do you think they gave Ash the directive and that the crew was expendable? The Nostromo shouldn't have even been in that space sector. It was all a conspiracy! lol.

Dude...back in the day the ratings made no sense! Temple of Doom IIRC had a PG rating so I was like, "JEEZUS CHRIST! :wow:" when they showed Alfred Molina impaled in the face multiple times. Was not prepared for that. :oldrazz:

I'm a wuss when it comes to gore. I hope this will be PG-13. :o But unfortunately I think the MPAA cares more about nudity and language than gore and violence nowadays.

haha yea the old Indiana Jones films are brutal in hindsight.

There is no way that a species that advanced, that bio-engineers all these creatures, including us, would be peaceful.

I imagine they are not actually evil, they are above any sense of morality. They see humans as nothing but ants.
