Prometheus - Part 5

The part where he says he understands emotions, yet does not feel them, while tears streamed down his face, creeped the hell out of me. :wow:
I didn't think of it as creepy - in fact, I felt sorry for him since it was clear that he's trying really hard to be human...but he can't.

Although yeah, I totally called his being called to do roles that might be "too distressing" for humans. :funny:

I'm curious where David lies on the android scale. Is he more Bishop or more Ash? Or does he reside somewhere in between. Can't wait to find out!

And I just now realize the irony of posting that while having a creepy avatar of David smiling. :funny:

I luh-huv David 8's line: "I wish to express gratitude for those who created me."

That's *gotta* be a parallel to the aliens creating humanity motif....maybe David 8 identifies strongly with Shaw, since she seems to be doing exactly the same thing.

Never thought about that. I love it when a film has this sort of poignant parallels.

Awesome, I was actually working on making this exact thing from website screen caps.

Instead I was emailed this gif as a "Weyland Corp Investor Notification"

That emotion one is too big. It's 130 kb or something. Could you maybe get it under the limit? I'd love to use it :D Thanks.

So when does that Prometheus issue of Empire come out? I've been looking for it and can't seem to find it.

IMDb said Guy Pearce was playing Stannison. They're not to be relied on for accuracy. I think he's playing the bald bloke in the beginning of the first full trailer.

I have a feeling Patrick Wilson is playing the Space Jockey. Call it a hunch.

The facial structure on both of them is very similar. I know IMDB has him listed as Noomi's father but I wouldn't fully trust that. Like Dude_Love said Guy Pearce was credited as some completely different character before we found out he was Weyland.

Remember in Aliens when Bishop comments on how the older models were twitchy? I think he'll react to the situation differently than both of them.

Plus, look at who he is working with, he is not Ash with space truckers or Bishop with the colonial Marines. David is working with scientists and their natural curiosity which led them their (which will no doubt backfire on them all). We could expect to get something entirely different maybe?

Wilson is playing a human person. You see him in the trailers. He's sitting down with the crew members with a shroud over his head.

David is awesome.

One of my most pressing questions re: this movie is whether David will be a "good" or "bad" android.

The second t.v spot might have inadvertently spoiled that.

Not Wilson. That's Rafe Spall.

That's Rafe Spall in that scene, not Patrick Wilson.

I got the vibe that he is bad for some reason, but your guess is as good as mine.

I think David, unlike the other androids, will have a proper character arc. I think as the movie will go on, just like the Replicants, he'll develop his own sense of morality, his own emotions, his own motives.
