Regardless of the blanks, I just think the script needed another polish. If they keep Engineer thing mysterious that's fine but at least make the humans more interesting. I like some of them, But I only really liked Elba, Theron and Fassbender. Rapace was too underwritten despite her good performance.
I liked Noomi myself.

Fifield, etc. really didn't need any more developing, but I will agree, they kinda dropped the ball on Halloway actually being an interest character.

I don't know if I really want a sequel as some have said, I think some of it is suppose to be mysterious and stay that way.

I want him to do his Blade Runner sequel first. The man is getting old so I'm sure he won't be able to make a lot more film.

yeah he is 75. he looks and acts youn but he could hit the brickwall eventually.

I hate thinking like that but ya he is getting old. I know he's doing The Counselor next, I really hope before he stops he gets an Oscar, either life time achievement or something.

I will say, the way Prometheus set up the sequel, it could very well be done by another director, and take a more Cameron-esque/Aliens tone to it, being more based on action and adventure than mysteries and horror.

I like how they

Kept David "alive" at the end, I really liked his character.

Since a sequel is inevitable now, I want more Space Jockey/Engineer material in the next installment. I have my own theory as to why the Engineers [blackout]wanted to wipe out humanity with biowarfare[/blackout] but I desperately want to know why the Space Jockey chose to don that suit's design. Is it a tribute to their god(s), perhaps?

Also, have the Engineers created other lifeforms in the universe? [blackout]I mean, it was confirmed that LV-223 was once a military base where they preformed science experiments.[/blackout] So in theory, this intergalactic race must have done similar procedures or feats in other galaxies.

After being disappointed by Prometheus, I don't think I want Ridley to touch Blade Runner. Give it to Nolan. Inception was more in the spirit of Blade Runner than anything I imagine Ridley could conjure up nowadays.

Nolan is going to do his own original work.

Let someone like a Joss Whedon do Blade Runner

btw, the scene from Life of Pi during the 3D film was amazing....Ang Lee is perfect as the director for a movie like that. The Tiger looks awesome

Oh God no.

Joss is all about character interaction and pithy dialogue. Any time he even attempted to interject subtext into Serenity or Avengers, he faltered.

You need someone with a tremendous grasp of both visual flare and heavy subtext for Blade Runner. And Ridley is still the premiere name for both of those.

No, it wasn't.

Neither thematically, subtexually, nor visually.

In the spirit meaning, it demands multiple viewings. That there was actually some thought put into the film.

I wouldn't mind Fincher taking another stab at the Alien universe. Sure Alien 3 was a train wreck but he was young and had no creative control.

Alien 3 has great atmosphere. Some great acting there as well.

*Sigh* Oh well. At least there's Elysium and Gravity to look forward to :csad:.
There is also The Europa Report starring Sharlto Copley as well.

Its about Six astronauts who go to Jupiter's moon Europa looking for extraterrestrial life.
yeah he is 75. he looks and acts youn but he could hit the brickwall eventually.
Clint Eastwood is 82 and still directing so if Ridley can copy Eastwood he should be alright. It helps that Ridley like Eastwood are very workmenlike filmmakers who can knock a film out pretty fast :woot:

I liked how blunt and too the point Fifield was. He didn't care about offending people.

Not sure about action sequel like Aliens but if Ridley couldn't comeback having someone like Duncan Jones take over would be cool.

Inception was a different animal for the genre. While it was Nolan's most 'shallow' film, it was still a fantastic Sci-Fi thrill ride. The Prestige, Memento and TDK, on the other hand, were his best when arriving to subtext and themes.

Nolan, I believe, would never touch Blade Runner. It's his Holy Grail.

There are tons of movies that demand multiple viewings and have a lot of subtext and meaning. That doesn't make them similar.

I find movies like Burton's Batman, There Will Be Blood, The Godfather, etc. demand multiple viewings due to their character subtext, does that make them similar to Blade Runner as well?

Your spoiler is another big "eh" I have with the script.
[BLACKOUT]Janek just suddenly knows the Engineers' grand purpose on the moon, out of nowhere. And we're suppose to take this nugget of information like that? Really? The location being a military base makes sense, but the way they go about it feels like it's missing a scene. Why would the invitation lead to a military base? Why not just kill us?

AND YES...I realize that the base was overrun. It's just the way that the information is laid out that I find rather ... disappointing?[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]I do like your theory about the exoskeletons. They are visually arresting, and their appearance has to come into play eventually if the sequel happens. [/BLACKOUT]

Bring on a sequel but either fully embrace the aliens mythos or divorce yourself from it completely.

Well considering Blade Runner is Nolan's favorite film, I made the association. Maybe I'm wrong about that. Maybe not.
