I feel like the general audience won't really remember what the movie is a sequel to, and therefore, won't go. I barely remember what happened in Prometheus or what it was about... and I watched it 3 months ago. There isn't a clear narrative or summary of everything you need to know by the end, and instead, you're left with more questions than answers. The audience, 3-4 years later, will be asked to remember the questions thrown up in the air so they'll give a damn about the answers. This is essentially why Damon Lindelof is such a crappy writer, but is especially crappy if we're talking about movies 3-4 years apart, instead of a weekly show where the audience can somewhat remember the abstract, pretentious BS that happened the episode before.
