Whatever... I keep telling you that a good film is more than a good story, and you keep replying that story matters. I keep telling you that people don't understand the grammar of films anymore, and you keep replying that it's a glorious time to be a film fan... This is going nowhere.

And you think I find "the good old times" better when 9 out of my 10 favourite films ever were made after 1980. Obviously we are not meant to understand each other, and that is all. Other members will read and judge for themselves.

I still think that if even someone who didn't like Prometheus can come here and write lengthy posts about its flaws - which it definitely has - then it's done its job : it made people feel something strongly enough to have them argue about it for weeks.
new pics?

I need that star map in super uber high res so badly![]()
Story drives a film...but it doesn't have to be an original story or even a deep story to be entertaining.
Here's a question for Darthskywalker... I saw you mentioned that you do "like" the film, you just thought it under-performed, or was disappointing. You have explained your position well, I find myself agreeing with you on many of these issues. But, I do wonder, since I know what you don't "like". What do you "like" about Prometheus.
To Regwec: I also find this one of the more "interesting" movies. But this is primarily do to the subject matter and not the movie itself, the movie added nothing (so far) and that's why I say I wish it was a "better" movie.

Eh, maybe THRILLHOUSE took over?Lol, true, Millhouse did seem to be playing with that snake to impress Bart

Prometheus has made 231 million WW so far. The film should at least make 255 million by the next two weeks, and get immensely close to 300 million once released on Blu-Ray and DVD -- guaranteeing profit for 20th Century Fox.
So with that said and Ridley Scott tackling and juggling 2-3 other projects currently, when do we assume Scott will be working on Paradise?
Lukewarm? Load. Prometheus received generally positive and favorable reviews.
Snow White and The Huntsman received a lower rating and has only made 253 million at the Box Office on a 170 million budget, and a sequel has already been announced.
So yeah, load.
A Prometheus sequel is likely going to happen.
from what Ive seen/heard this is getting bad WOM. I havent met anyone, nerd or GA, in my groups of friends who liked this that much
The drop off from Friday to Sunday in the first weekend and the major drop off for the second weekend indicates bad WOM and a lukewarm reception from audiences. It isn't like it did Harry Potter numbers and then dropped off because everyone already saw it. It went from 50 to 20 million in one weekend. That isn't good.
Snow White and The Huntsman has a "planned" sequel, much in the same way Tron Legacy and The Golden Compass have/had planned sequels coming. See how that has worked out so far?
Not saying this won't get it sequel. I think it will, but we aren't talking profit here.
