But you can, and it's been done. Plus Bale's a name I would say. He's been the title character of a gigantic movie. I think it makes more sense to have him and Depp on the poster instead of just Depp. Once again I use Body of Lies as an example. Crowe wasn't really in that all that much (In fact Mark Strong may have had almost as much screentime, if not as much). It was DiCaprio's show, but they advertised it as if they were Co-Leads. Made sense, and I'm surprised Universal isn't doing the same.

I mean It doesn't really matter, I just saw a a bunch of Public Enemies posters today and they all just had Johnny on it. Was a little surprised.

But Bale's role is a supporting character. It's not like Heat where DeNiro and Pacino were co-leads. Public Enemies is the Johnny Depp Show with Bale and Cotillard supporting him. Actually, I believe Cotillard's role is more substantial than Bale's since she's the love interest. I think you can tell from the Total Film review that Bale's role will be pretty small. As for Body of Lies, Crowe probably got top billing with DiCaprio because his contract demanded it. Actors are very weird and touchy when it comes to billing. I don't think Bale really cares about that kind of stuff. The only above the title billing in Public Enemies is Johnny Depp. Both Bale and Cotillard are billed below the title.

You could do that but obviously Marion and possibly Crudup would be on the poster too. Especially Marion since her role is equally big as Bale's and her name is on the poster.

More extended clip of Depp and Bale talking about their characters

I'm not a fan of the "digital handheld" look for this film. I thought I wouldn't mind it, and it worked in Miami Vice, it just does not work with Vintage 1920-30's environments.

That clip was excellent but the shaky handheld camera annoyed me. I hope I get used to it by the time I watch PE so that it doesn't take me out of the movie.

Bale and Depp are doing a red carpet event 20 minutes from my house tonight

I'd go but it'll probably be too crowded for my liking

I actually like all the types of camera work when they're combined like that. I lost count of all the people I heard complaining about the camera in Cloverfield... it seemed like I was the only one that liked it.

The clip is AMAZING! And i love the handheld camera. It's just right for this movie.

You weren't the only one. That movie was pretty successful.
Cloverfield is a little different though. As the audience, you were meant to be aware that you were seeing events through a camera. Not really the case with PE.

See that's why I've greatly anticipated this movie from the get go, because of scenes like that. Seeing two amazing actors playing two legendary souls going at it. I love that. I love that In Heat with Pacino and De Niro in the diner. I love that In The Dark Knight where Bale and Ledger go at it in the interrogation room. It's like the whole world just stops for a few minutes, and these two warriors take over. Awesome.

Agreed. What a great way of putting it.

I just watched the HBO First Look, and this boy does this look fantastic. I know it's really divisive, but I LOVE the hand-held digital look Mann shot this with, specifically because of how it contrasts with what we expect from period films. It makes everything seem so immediate, like we're not watching history, but something that's happening right now, only...back then, if that makes any sense. Kind of like great-looking home movies of the past, if we could go back in time with a video camera. Anyway, some pics from the Chicago premiere earlier this evening:

Johnny seems to be channeling his inner-Mickey Rourke.

I'm pretty sure CB's wife has made the same face in every single picture I've ever seen of her. ngl, I'd totally be :woot: too if I were in her place.

And this is seriously the only pic I've seen of them all together:

I would hope there are more to come, b/c that's just ridiculous.

Oh my god, you're right. Johnny Depp is totally channeling Mickey Rourke in those pics. He was on the cover of Vanity Fair rocking the Rourke look too. Not a good look, imo.

Why are there no pictures of everyone together on the red carpet? Don't they always do those red carpet cast photos? Hmm, maybe they're pacing themselves and saving something for later premieres.

I know, you'd think there would be! I've scoured the 'net, and that's the only one I've found - not a single one from the red carpet. Not even one of just Depp and Bale together. :csad:

That's why I think there's gotta be more to come....right?

I can't wait to see this movie. I actually know someone whom is an extra in it, and filmed a scene Depp was in. I need to ask which scene it was so I can look out for him.

This movie looks amazing though

I love all the clips I've seen so far. Looks like this one will actually live up to it's expectations. :yay:!

I actually liked more the clip with Depp and Marion. The movie look's great thus far.
