Better question that somewhat answers your question:
Why doesn't a crook just shoot Batman in the mouth when he gets a clear shot at him?
after getting shot in the legs? His body is all mangled after the Joker shoots, he's probably paralyzed.
very...but still common sense would dictate that hed take it out and try to blow up the guy robbing his bank.
Because that would be too easy. It breaks the rules of moviedom, like if more than two guys would attack the Good Guy at once, the world would explode.
BOOM.
after getting shot in the legs?

yeah thats what i saw too...Actually if you watch the HD version that's been floating around where everything is crystal clear, he has a bullet wound in his torso.
Suspension of belief

It would have been funny if he "did" throw the grenade at Joker, then it just bounced off him, rolled on the floor and released the gas... and Joker sighed... turned around and shot him in the head. "I hate it when people can't take a joke."
the blu ray is awesome, the fights are more clearer, the visuals are superb, Reminds me of when I first came out of batman begins, it kind of makes me wish they never made a sequel, Because everything is left for the viewer ponder up ways of how batman and his rougues gallery can co-exist in a real life settingwatching the prologue in HD is AWESOME makes me wish I had the entire movie in HD
I wondered this too. It would have been ignored if they tied his hands behind his back with a live grenade (kinda like what they did with the other hosties).
I also wondered why the cops showed up if they said the alarm went out to a private number.
