Every one knows Spidey is a wise-cracking superhero (well... everyone except for Raimi apparently), and provided Marc Webb's hilarious sense of humour, do you think we'll get a lot of this?

Did Spider-Man even crack any jokes in Raimi's Spider-Man movies? I don't remember him making any jokes in them.

yeah there were like.. 2 or 3 of them... in the whole trilogy ;)

He did crack a few jokes and some of them were even funny, but obviously he didn't do it often enough for people to think of him as a wise-cracking individual. Descriptions of the Comic-Con footage give me hope Spider-Man will come across as a funny, witty character in TASM.

Biggest one I remember outside of the wrestling scene is this one:

but there was also "it's you who's out gobby, out of your mind!" but that wasn't funny at all.. then in the third, not really anything that I recall.

In the third movie he said to Sandman,"Sorry, but I'm the sheriff around these parts."
Also, it's already been confirmed that he will have wisecracks and I look forward to it. His quips are one of the things I like best about him.

I definitely want more wisecracks and quips. One of the most fun aspects of Spider-Man is his smart ass nature. He's like a built in RiffTrax!

That TASM video is EXACTLY what I want to see in this show. Quips of that magnitude would make these movies better than the Rami ones.

At Comic Con, they asked the cast and crew about quips and Marc Webb, Matt Tolmach (producer) and Andrew Garfield all said that Spidey would quip. Plus, the Comic Con footage had Spidey quip at one point and then web a guy to a wall in a multitude of ways (including pretending he sneezed out the web)

So, I think we'll see quips.

I'm dying to see that part in the movie where he webs the guy to the wall and pretends to sneeze, haha. :D

I'm dying to see anything funny in this movie. It's going to be a great thing to have.

But do you recon they could overdo it and kill the tone of the movie? :S I hope not.

There's always a chance of overdoing everything. I wouldn't worry about it yet. At least, not until we see some footage.

To put it simply, no. Watch the trailer. I don't think they're going to overdo it on the humor. The humor will be where it needs to be, but I'm not expecting Spidey to crack jokes during any times of true turmoil.

If it turned out that people started complaining that this movie is too light-hearted I think I would have to punch someone. After all the, "It looks too dark for Spider-Man." and the, "He's an angsty, emo sitting in the back of the class with his hood up." I don't think I could handle people criticizing the movie for being too funny.

People will ***** about anything. It doesn't matter if it's the greatest movie of all time, there will be people who cannot stop *****ing about something.

I know that. It would just be the total about face of opinion that would drive me nuts about something like that happening.

I'll be honest, I'll be pretty mad if they resort to humor at otherwise serious points in the movie. I'm all for humor during petty crime scenes, but I'm gonna get pretty annoyed if Spidey is cracking jokes when there's a rampaging lizard in his path. Maybe like one joke when he first encounters the lizard, then the lizard puts him in his place and Spidey kinda says to himself "Okay, maybe it's time to get serious here".

Well, we know there's going to be that one funny scene in the library with the Lizard...

I make exceptions for Stan Lee cameos. Doesn't really count for me.

I think Stan Lee cameos can be fun, though. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they fall flat.

His cameo in Thor is probably my favorite so far. ("Did I get it?") :woot:

But, anyways, back to the quip talk!

I prefer his quips from SS to STAS. What do you all think?

Also, only funny quip I remember from Raimi's films was when Spidey webs JJJ's mouth shut.

I'll admit there was a point when I was concerned about this as well, but the more I got to thinking about it I realized I trust Marc Webb to balance the humor and drama properly. I thought he did a great job of it in (500) Days of Summer. Plus, hearing about the scene in the Comic-Con footage of Peter yelling at the Lizard gave me the impression that all Spidey/Lizard scenes would be serious.
