The Amazing Spider-Man Quips, Wise-Cracking and Banter!

No, I know. I'm just addressing the fact that if it did ever somehow get to the point, then complaints would be acceptable.

Plus, the Comic Con footage had Spidey quip at one point and then web a guy to a wall in a multitude of ways (including pretending he sneezed out the web)
Good to know. I love a good wise-crack.

Did Spider-Man even crack any jokes in Raimi's Spider-Man movies? I don't remember him making any jokes in them.

I remember the Bank scene in SM2 when Doc Ock hurled bags of coins at Spidey as he dodged them. Spidey caught one of the bags with his webline and threw it right back at Doc saying, "Here's your change!."

I'll be honest, I'll be pretty mad if they resort to humor at otherwise serious points in the movie. I'm all for humor during petty crime scenes, but I'm gonna get pretty annoyed if Spidey is cracking jokes when there's a rampaging lizard in his path. Maybe like one joke when he first encounters the lizard, then the lizard puts him in his place and Spidey kinda says to himself "Okay, maybe it's time to get serious here".

I think that Spidey would need humor in the fights with the Lizard more than anything. At first it went from him making jokes because he knew he'd beat common criminals easily, but later it turned into making jokes to help him survive. With petty thugs he can make little quips without having to worry, but normally he only says those things to de-stress the incredibly dangerous situations for him when he's going up against a supervillain. I want it to be clear that Spidey is scared out of his mind when going up against this lethal creature, and I want him to deal with that fear like he's always done. If not, he cracks under the pressure.

I'm expecting more than one joke when he first encounters him, and maybe a few in their last confrontation. It depends on how dire the situation is going to be, but I still think it's possible for Spidey to make jokes while still having the situation be dangerous and serious. Just keep the Lizard and the people around Spidey more serious than he is at those moments, but not so much that it seems like Spidey isn't taking it seriously enough. What I would do is have Spider-Man joking on the outside, while the audience hears his inner thoughts and his real opinions, worries, and struggles on the situation.

Moments that I don't want to hear him joke should come in a later movie against Green Goblin. When he kidnaps and kills Gwen, I can see Spidey dropping the quips to take out Gobby because then he'll be more overcome with anger than compassion or fear. The same can be said for Venom, but under different circumstances.

I don't think you guys have anything to worry about. Webb seems like a crowd pleaser. :)

Spidey never quipped at serious moments in the comics, so why would he do that in a movie? lol

4:41 and on is how I'd want to see Spidey handling the situation.

People will ***** about anything. It doesn't matter if it's the greatest movie of all time, there will be people who cannot stop *****ing about something.

"THE MOVIE'S TOO PERFECT! ONLY BATMAN CAN HAVE PERFECT MOVIES!!!"

I can actually see someone saying that. We'll need a spy to infiltrate the Batboards after ASM comes out though.

I love spectacular Spider-Man!!!!
I really hope more than anything it's just like it which It probably will!

Wice-cracking from Raimi's films that I remember:

Doc-Ock "You're getting on my nerves"
Spidey "I have an knack for that".

"That's a cute outfit. Did your husband give it to you?"

"Look at little goblin jr... You're gonna cry?"

damn... can't really remember that many...

Basically the rule of thumb in the Spidey bible in most incarnations is, when he STOPS cracking jokes, whoever he's fighting is ****ed up because he's actually angry by that point.

That's because there weren't many more than that. haha. I'm pretty sure I can count the number of quips in the Raimi films just using my hands.

I still don't get how Rami didn't have more quips. He created Ash! One of the biggest wise asses in cinema!

Yeah, that's pretty much how I'd imagine it being done.
Same here. I hope he get serious torwards the end of the film though. I would love t o se a bloddied, vicious fight. Well you know, for the last battle. Maybe parker would use a gene cleanser too? OR at least something similar. But even still, the movie is really sticking close to the comics so I can't wait to see all the quips and wise-cracking he does. Just hope the theater doesn't go uproaring in laughter though every time he says something funny. This is spidey, not Kevin Hart.

The only memorable quip Raimi's Spiderman made in the entire trilogy was "Here's your change" during the Doc Ock Bank fight.

That really reminded me of Spidey's character.

Hope this changes in the new movies.

It's weird to me that even though they really want to keep this very close to the comics, they desided to make a costume design that's pretty far from the original

Don't get me wrong, I really like the design myself, but I'm fed up with the majority of regular movie goers that still only complain

I don't think it's pretty far from the original. It's red/blue, has the spider emblems & the mask is pretty much the same.

The best Raimi quip was by far "Hey, kiddo. Let Mom and Dad talk for a minute, will ya?" as he webs JJJ's mouth shut.

I think that one could hypothetically use the tone of Spidey's voice as he quips to gauge his emotions in lieu of removing his mask every five minutes.
For example, normally, he sounds confident as he ridicules the villain. But when he's scared, he should sound nervous as he quips.

I think the quips would also be a way to signify the seriousness of a situation. When Spidey's beating up random thugs he's a quipping machine, but in the final battle he's dead serious.

I usually find he made better, more daring quips when he's scared - when spidey ISN'T making quips it's 'cause you've pissed him off.

Spidey should wice-crack as hell... But ones he gets pissed, he shouldn't say a word! Maybe scream a bit! This should be a clear statement in the new movie.
