Racism...

I had White Castle the other day. It goes down so good especially after drinking.
I had White Castle once for lunch was still tasting it after dinner. Didn't care for that.

The root of racism is simple. Fear! Fear of that which we either do not understand or is different from what we are comfortable with. It's really not any more complicated than that. Think about the classic example. Middle-class white lady happens to be walking along. As she passes a young black man, she clenchs up, tighten her grip on her purse, mabye even moves to the other side of the street. She fears what she doesn't understand.

The true cause of racism is generalization. As a former Sheriff's deputy I can tell you that in my county I saw more crime committed by blacks than any other race. I saw more blacks in jail, juvenile detention and in Family court. As I am white, it would be easy for me to generalize all blacks as no-good thieves, drug addicts, wife-beaters, and dope dealers. I don't. Every Hispanic that I met had been arrested for Criminal Domestic Violence, Driving Under the influence, Driving w/out a license, Driving w/out insurance, Public Drunk or Disorderly conduct. Obviously all Hispanics are non- driving drunks who have no respect for the law and like to show their rear-ends in public. I don't believe that. On the other hand I know that there are a lot of blacks and Hispanics that generalize against whites. They see us all as bigoted liars who spend our lives trying to oppress them.
I personally avoid generalizations. I judge every individual by their actions. Regardless of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion, personal finances or sexual preference, if you're an ***hole you're an ***hole. Regardless of those same classifications, if you are a law-abiding citizen and treat others well, then you are a fine person.
Further- We have a responsibility to aid those less fortunate regardless of these. I do not believe that there should be any charities, help agencies, scholarships, or benefits that help only certain races exclusively. It should be on the basis of need alone.

I've lived in the South before, where racism is still at a peak. White people will bash black people all day for no apparent reason, and they blamed it on the blacks saying they started with the racism...

However, in the years I lived in the South, I hadn't heard a single racist comment from a black person.

Racism is still pretty bad further North, but on a more hidden level. Such as, white parents will allow their children to hang out with a black child, but will not allow him or her to date a black child.

It's pathetic, really. I can't stand those religious bastards who claim they're God's most true followers, yet their next sentence bears the 'n' word.

Just thinking about it is silly.

Am I wrong in thinking that at the root of racism is having a dislike for people for where they are from? Isn't it because of they time that a particular group of people has spent in a certain land caused their bodies to adapt to that land? Is not this the reason that African people are black, that Asian people are normally short to a lot of other races? Can't all physical qualities of a race, be explained through adapting to the land they from?

So at it's root, racism is having a dislike for people for where they are from. What is the difference in this, and say Northern people from the U.S. sterotyping Southern people because where they are from?

I'm not anthropologist, so if someone is, or can correct me, please do.

I find it Ironic when a conservative says he dislikes sterotypes about Southerners, but has no trouble engaging in sterotypes about the French.

i get alot of flack from some people because i believe in true equality, and against any system (govn't or social) that bases ANYTHING off skin colour, religion, sex, sexual preferance etc.... I just don't get why the rest of the country, continent, world can't do the same.

ps..i know there will always be racists, but honestly i don't believe that the majority truly are.

The root of racism is imagery in religion.

Good statement  but i too often fall short of this cos there tends to be some historical, cultural baggage involved.

Racism is ******ed. It's such an obvious reason to hate someone. There are far more legitimate reasons to hate people than something as silly as the color of their skin.

the other day I was thinking about racism, and came to the conclusion that if we were only one race, then we'd simply discriminate based upon the place of our birth, social standing etc. it seems stupid, but that's the way it is now, sort of, divisions within races are palpable enough to not be dismissed.

It's a shame we still live in a world where there is still racism. Whenever will people realise that only difference between the races is the level of pigment melanin present in the skin? There is no other biological factors which sets people apart, just culture. The cruel twist of irony is that in a culture where suspicion is cast upon non-white people is going to inevitably make them feel rebellious and have a bad influence on them. It is the self-fulfilling prophecy. Being mixed race myself, I've been lucky in the way that I haven't been in such a vulnerable position in society i.e. my background is of a upper middle class one. Thus I have been taught of the importance of getting a good education and not mix with the "wrong crowd".

I can only hope that perhaps in the future, the human race will realise how ridiculous they have been and will make the effort to untie together. And there onwards, racism will cease to exist. Globalisation is the only way forward.
