why does everyone keep saying nicholsons joker wasnt scary? he scared me quite a bit when i was younger, and is still creepy when i watch him today. doesnt exactly look like a mental institution attendant, but he was certainly insane and creepy in his own way. most of these ledger pics look like the way joker looked when vicky splashed water on him and his makeup was runny. and that to me is still the scariest joker moment.

The Nicholson Joker and Ledger Joker just seem to be so drastic- you need to know to separate the two. Jack's Joker did not look creepy...at all. He wasn't suppose to look creepy. His appearance was that of a clown in flamboyant attire. If you saw him in the steet without knowing who he was, you wouldn't be afraid of him...until he pulled out a gun, tried to char you to a black skeleton, or squirted acid at your face to burn your flesh off. I loved that version.

The Ledger Joker appears creepy, he's a mass murdering psychotic clown. I don't think you'd want to get close enough to him to let him give you a glasgow grin, now would you?

he looks literally insane like everyone said. It is true that Nicholsons Joker really seems like a clown. Heath seems like a madman

Ya Nicholson I wouldn't be that afraid of if he sat next to me. Heath I would be so scared, he wouldn't even have to say anything. I think I would **** my pants if he even glanced at me

looks a little chubby in the cheeks... i'll withhold judgment until i see the movie though. pretty neat outfit though!

I am too lazy to look at the past pages, does anyone know if there are any new pictures in the Wizard magazine besides the cover?

I think visually, Nicholson's Joker was definately closer to the comics.
But psychologically....I think Ledger's will be closer to the comics.

well there have been many different types of joker interpretations, but i think they are all pretty much the same. i just think nicholson hit it closest to the mark because, lets face it, its not very hard to get the joker wrong. they had the right idea with B89, and thats because it had never been done before. now, they are basically trying to "reinvent" joker, and change the way we think of him.l its going far beyond just doing an adaptation of the character, nolan is practically reinventing the character, looks wise and possibly action wise. so while burton was trying to do a dark, faithful adaptation, nolan is really reinventing the character allotgether.

Although, I'd still be a little freaked out if Jack sat next to me. I mean, I white skinned, perma-grinned guy in purple pants sitting next to me doesn't exactly happen everyday.

Oh.

My.

God.

The Joker has reached the pinnacle of bad ass. This is most definitely, the BEST Joker ever.

I'll have to respectfully semi-disagree with you, old chum. :cwink:

I find it kind of stupid of people to make comments like "Nicholson's joker was closer to the comics but Nolan is going a different direction" when I'm willing to bet more than half of these people haven't read the comics, or maybe have read one or two. The joker has had many incarnations, there are certain characteristics that are core to his character that define who he is and as long as they keep these for TDK it will be the Joker just as much as Nicholson's was the Joker from certain eras of the comics. I think though that TDK's joker is going to showcase the character's psychopathic side alot more than Batman 89' did.

thats the one problem i have with this joker so far. i wish he had a few more outfits...and i don't think he does. :csad:

i'm over the make up and i'm over the cut smile. i don't even mind the whole "hobo" thing. before we saw any pics of the joker...if you asked me to imagine how he was going to look....this is pretty close to what i was thinking we were going to get. punk/vivienne westwood influences. i even imagined him to be a smoker.

I'm expecting something totally different, and I'm even liking the hobo style.

I originally wanted The Joker in TDK to be a flashy dressing, maniac clown...then it hit me; why redo a version that was already perfected in the 80s?

I was also against the cut smile, now I'm really liking it. As long as the makeup stays completely on his face I'll be fine; probably the reason I wasn't much of a fan of the Empire picture. As much as I'd love to see him do it, this Joker doesn't need to change his clothes every scene. I feel like pulling up some Michael Caine quotes.

I couldn't agree more. :hq:

Not necessarily true. I'd say the new pic and the WSS car pic look very similiar. I think it's safe to say that those scenes closely follow each other.
Yeah, very true. All the pictures are pretty much the same. Its the lighting and camera angles that makes them look so different. And its interesting how the scenes progress, his make up starts to fade giving it that more wrinkled look.
