Then what are you talking about? Information? Jordan's casting broke in May of 2013. Then Teller's was August. Then full casting announcements came February 19, 2014. Shooting commenced in May of 2014.

It was all there. The only funny business was the release date being pushed twice but that happens a lot with these kinds of movies (at one point Avengers was scheduled for release in 2011).

I'm talking there actually being nothing for the film since it wrapped last august, and having zero SDCC presence.

Even with The Wolverine Mangold and Jackman were doing live questions during shooting. Also, First Class wrapped in Dec and The Wolverine in Nov. With earlier release dates the next year then F4. Not the same thing here.

F4 has been wrapped since the end of Summer. They have had plenty of time.

Fox doesn't promote early and that doesn't mean the films are troubled.

If Fantastic Four wrapped in Dec and started in August, I probably would not be having this conversation. FC and The Wolverine did not have the time frame to be at SDCC casue they started after. The Wolverine was present the following year. The Wolverine was also being promoted while shooting, Dawn Of The Apes was at SDCC 2013 with teaser and crew, DOFP was being promoted while shooting (also at SDCC13), the First Class trailer was released two months after wrapping etc. FC was doing VFX and reshoots to the last minute it was on such a rushed schedule. Fox do promote their films early in more ways then one, and their panels at cons have kicked ass for the past few years when they have strong franchises coming out. Last year's SDCC was the exception with F4 being no show.

When a film like this has been wrapped for 5 months and there has been nothing at all, it turns heads in a bad way. This film may be friggin awesome, but it's had a sketchy way of showing they are confident.

Kinberg and now Trank already addressed why they were so secretive... obviously if they presented at Comic-Con, the first trailer wouldn't be really the first look because the people at Comic-Con would have seen it and I just think if they went there and the "fans" who have seen zero footage would have reacted negatively to the cast by booing. I think more people are now looking forward to this film because of the trailer and maybe they would attend Comic-Con this year.

As it's already been pointed out, most people aren't buying that explanation for a variety of reasons. You really look at a six month hiatus, with shooting wrapped up and nothing coming from Fox's end but a plethora of awful rumors, as a good thing? Ragnorak said it perfectly:

63 people gave it 8 or better. 100 people gave it 7 or less.

I'd say that's pretty poor for a teaser trailer. Usually those get fans excited and you'll see mostly 10's, 9's and 8's.

Which may not be particularly meaningful, but I'd say these numbers indicate the trailer was not well-received by the specific group of people in here.

Given by the popularity of this film in this forum....having a majority of 8 is good.

Several months ago.... people were saying the film will be a found footage mess with cheap sets located in a cheap warehouse... and now people are comparing it to Interstellar like its a bad thing. Also critics and magazine writers and bloggers seem to love the trailer.

I found the trailer horrible boring and uninteresting. It seemed to me like the goal was to take these characters and make them as dull as possible. I get that Trank is going for this "fantasy is creepy when its a subtle part of reality" schtick that he did with Chronicle, the problem is that it doesn't work for the Fantastic Four. The FF are supposed to be more like the incredibles in tone than sci-fi horror. This felt like more of the drab pseudo-profound hipster stuff that we saw in Transcendence and Interstellar.

What's odd is that Trank seems to think he's doing something new here, but he's just following a trend that is already getting old.

Matthew Vaughn even admitted as much weeks ago.

It's amazing how they went for stuff that was never in the comics. The F4 never wore black suits, the closest was the dark Navy Blue uni's they wore back in the mid 1980's. Also there has never been a square F4 logo.

The suits look terrible, especially Reed's.

It amazes me they went with black. I mean seriously, those outfits in a dark blue with maybe some black elements would have been fine. Blue would add a nice contrast, and it would help get some fans on their side because they would at least remotely resemble their comic book counterparts.
But no, Trank and co. are apparently trying to hide their comic book roots and are going for a "dark and gritty" approach for the hell of it. Even though the films producer himself just said a scant few weeks ago that people are tired of that. Oh the irony.

Um I don't work for Fox's marketing department so that was kind of a weird accusation. God forbid someone criticize this film. And you're trying to pretend now that low expectations do not exist for this film?

As far as moving the goal posts this trailer is exactly what we all expected. In fact Willie was a bloody prophet. He described the contents of this trailer to a tee weeks ago.

Do the accordion arms mean only his arms stretch? Because that's more grounded and realistic than being able to stretch other parts of his body.

I think it's worse than that... if you wanted to separate it from other similar style movies, black would be the LAST color you would choose to do that.

X-men, Matrix, any teen-fiction based movie - all very dark, black and shades of dark grey. Can't wait to see another one in the exact same mold.
