Hmm.. I actually thought he was much jokey in the JL:War movie (although everyone was in that movie).

He actually turned on the serious heroism in the GL movie when **** got real.

I don't mind either interpretation though.

I know this may sound like splitting hairs, but goofball humor doesn't fit Hal like snarky humor. Strutting around while looking at his reflection on Oa doesn't quite go with the character the way his cocky, egotistical humor in War did.

Nah, I don't think Reynolds is going to come back after what happened. Maybe if the film didn't do horribly, had a better script, story, and dialogue, then yeah he'd be up for it. My best bet is either they're either going to be recast Hal or replace him with John Stewart.

reynolds probably won't come back, they definitely will recast but I just think it would be better if they kept him as hal. he was a better green lantern than deadpool.

His Deadpool was faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more entertaining than his Hal. He was perfect as Deadpool until they turned him to Baraka.

I guess we completely disagree here, too. JL/JLU isn't any more influential than the '60s JL or the Super Friends. In fact, since Super Friends ran for 109 episodes over 10 years, the most logical argument is that it's the most influential.
Doubtful. If it did have a great influence, it didn't last because people around the world thought GL as black after the one featuring John. If it was that influential, Hal would probably mean something to the GA
Regardless, those were all kid shows with simplistic character development. If WB/DC really wants to elevated John's name/image recognition to that of Hal, they'll get him into the animated movies ASAP. Doom, War, and Flashpoint are being billed as "events" and they are geared to an older audience.
It's a good bet JL gets seen more than any of those on Netflix & on TV. He'll be fine. Would be nice to see him utilized more nowadays tho. A Justice League show by the same crew that did Young Justice would be awesome!

They'd never get a quality lasting series out. Isn't official policy something like 50 episodes and then you're gone?

As for Superfriends and stuff, it gets mentioned on Family Guy and stuff. In terms of how most people will know the characters outside films it'll likely be:

Above 30- Superfriends
16-25- Justice League: TAS
Below 16- Young Justice/DCOA

It just depends what market WB would go for, kids can go with parents, but the familiarity of the "cool factor is needed for more 16-25 year olds, that's without even going into the writing of the script and the team dynamic- John for example is shown to work very well with one type of Flash, Hal another. There are obviously other factors and they all offset each other.

Good points. When my kids have their friends over to our house, I routinely offer my JLA DVDs as an appropriate option. I often hear some variation of "Is that like the Super Friends?" from parents. SF was a kids' cartoon, as was JL/JLU, and YJ. If a person isn't in a certain age group or a rabid comics' fan, they likely know only one of the three.

However, I think WB is doing the right thing with the DCAU DVDs. They are more mature and edgy than the various cartoon series. Plus, they are being billed as major events for larger audiences. Flashpoint sold 3.3 million copies between DVDs and Blu-ray. That's a solid indicator that the word is out and WB is preparing to take the next step into live action with this group of heroes.

With the Eisenberg casting, I'm worried.

WB/DC's problem to me has more to do with the characters they use& the plots they put them in than the actors they select to play them. After Heath Ledger's Joker, I've taken more of a wait &see attitude. They may do something really cool w/Eisenberg. My main concern is still the script & which GL they use.

I wouldn't be so wary if the movie just included 1 questionable casting, but now we have 3 in major roles. That's quite a bit for a movie to overcome.

Ben Affleck is not a questionable casting. Not only is he sufficient for Batman, but ideal for potential future films to be directed by him.

That remains to be seen. I really want SvsB to succeed, but this is the third time it has made negative waves. While you might like Affleck, the public perception is now a movie with a goofy Dark Knight, a skin-and-bones Wondy, and a teenage-looking Lex Luthor. That's not a good start.

Jake Gyllenhaal or Kevin Zegers will be best for the next Hal

John fans too. If they do this &do it well, it can be a win for everybody, even Hal fans. They'll finally see a GL that works in live action. Once WB/DC stops forcing Hal on us I can go back to just having apathy towards him. The possibilities are endless! Unfortunately, the wait for this to hit theaters will seem just as endless

I'm hopeful that Rock is involved with this movie because it needs some positive press in the worst way. If BvsS doesn't poorly, there might not be a JL movie, and right now, the perception of the movie isn't great.

Imagine the Rock in a simple costume like this. He would be instantly eye-catching and give GL an important feel in the JL.

I haven't visited here in quite a while, but I see nothing has changed.Brainchild is still trying to convince everyone and their brother that John Stewart is the better Green Lantern.Somethings never change.:hehe:

I already have convinced them. They just won't admit it. :word:

Never liked that costume on John. Glad he got rid of it. I think they should go for something more like what John wears

This concept art is pretty cool too. Faar better than what they used in Hal's film.
