Justice League Re-cast Hal Jordan for JL movie? Yay or Nay? - Part 1

I actually like the first "Green Lantern" movie, and would love to see Ryan Reynolds come back for sequels and a "Justice League" film. I want to see him fight Sinestro at some point, too.

Idris or Common are my John choices.

For any fans of John, here is a review of GLC #25, where John gets some long overdue New 52 backstory:

Reynolds won't be back. Strong might come back, particularly if Low Winter Sun is history in the near future.

He said he'd think about it if he saw a good script. I wouldn't like him to come but its certainly a door open to him.

Full article below, but Reynolds seems to say (as many rumors have) that there were too many cooks in the kitchen for GL. I liked it as well, but it could have been a better movie and been a success at the BO.

"Working on Green Lantern, I saw how difficult it is to kind of make that concept palatable and how kind of confused it all can be when you don't really know exactly where you are going with it or you don't really know how exactly to access that," he offered.

He hasn't closed the door completely, but he seems less than enthusiastic:

At this point I have very little interest in joining that, but as always a great director and a great script could turn that around."

That's true. The guy came off after 3 years to complain about Iron Man 2 and RDJ. Come on, forget it dude and move on.

Hah. As much as you folks love to argue and complain over casting choices, imagine if you yourself were cut out of a film after signing an agreement - now imagine this decision costs you and your family several millions of dollars, and the chance to further improve your career. See if you can "forget it" and "move on"...

He's too old for this **** ! :d
What about Spider=Man?

I think Hal should be stated as dead in the JL film and sinestro wiped everyones minds of the events of the first GL movie and should be the villain in JL along with AMAZO. John Stewart should be Hals replacement.

Could see Kevin Zegers as Hal Jordan (if they use this character and not John)

ha ha why not? it saves them having to reboot the franchise while also moving on from how bad the film was.

They could make Hal come back to life in future films if they wanted like they did in the comics.

a green lantern franchise is just not going to work

Hal is an unloveable character, who would prove to be a waste of screen time. Kyle or JS would be preferable, though I would be glad to see a Green Lantern free Justice League.

I read some GL comics and I just don't see what's so interesting about Hal Jordan either. I know Hal Jordan fans will hate me now but those are my thoughts. lol

green lantern is stupid anyway and the concept is ridiculous and dated and is a result of people trying to fix an even more dated concept. we just have to put up with him cos he is an original JL

What do you take the concept to be? Because I'm not sure how the whole intergalactic ranger thing is really "dated". It's just that the execution of it, and its decline into a string of crudely colour coded "events", is numbingly dull.

It also seems to me that individual Green Lanterns have, successively, been the most boring members of the Justice League.

True but I doubt they would have a lantern free one. I kind of am more incline to have JS or Kyle too.

Green Lantern's powers are so damn goofy but I want him on the team, the John Stewart version is my preference as I've said before.

it's like they made his name first, and then tried to make a concept around the name green lantern alone, the power is the most ridiculous power of a hero that i can think of thats not supposed to be funny, and this chosen one to wear the ring kinda crap. and getting energy from a galactic lantern in the shape of an outdated lantern.
lanterns were created by humans on earth, so think it's dumb that there is a giant green one in space that gives people powers

Yeah, how could they ever be so stupid? Earth is obviously the only planet that needs a light source.

so two different types species from different galaxys both came up with the same invention with the exact name and have the same design that is designed to hold fire but one of them is just made of energy that holds...energy

They don't have the same name though. It's a translation. Every language on every planet has it's equivalent. The main character is from Earth and speaks English, therefore the franchise is called Green Lantern. For example, Rot Lop Fan can't see and communicates through sound, therefore his equivalent is the F-Sharp Bell.

And if the fact that Lanterns have similar shapes on different planets is difficult for you to believe, maybe a superhero forum isn't the place for you.
