The Dark Knight Recycling Villains - How do you feel about it?

Here's what you get when you try and make a NEW villian...

So please Recycle..... it's better for the environment and Batman fans.

Are you kidding? Max Schrek was a great minor character. If they ever do make villains just for the films, I think it should only be the gangster type like Grissam, or the corrupt ones like Schrek. Those are the kind I don't have a problem with when it comes to making up characters. I just don't want them to create supervillain rogues.

The problem Mr. Socko that Max Schrek wasn't a MINOR character. he was more like the main character for Batman Returns.
He was in the movie more than BATMAN was.

Certainly he was the MAIN villian. Moreso than penguin and Catwaoman since they both was portrayed as "victms" of Max ambitions.

Batman Returns was great. Max Shreck was great. "Recycling" villains is fine.

hahaha, Max Shreck...(imitating Christopher Walken)...(shrugs) ..."See, batuh...-manuh, I think you should go fly off a windowuh and slap the womanuh who electrocuted meuh.....

Batman Returns was great. Max Shreck was great. "Recycling" villains is fine.

If by "great" you mean a mixed bag movie of the worst of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and BeetleJuice then yeah it was really great.

An Entertaining movie? At times.

A good Batman movie. Not even close.

Why you think they went with another director for Batman Forever.

i think they should always recycle villains in any superhero movie. i mean Batman 1989 was a great movie but introducing and then killing the Joker when he has so much history?? I mean he killed Robin and Robin wasn't introduced until later. Look at the X-Men series they recycled Magneto and other villains and that worked out great. Killing off villains is not only a disappointment but it loses hope for any future sequels with our favorite villains and for their stories to unfold. just cuz someone is a hero doesn't mean that they should be the only ones with their story to continue. i think a villains story should unfold as well. Like Venom I mean WTF??? Doc Ock?? Let's just hope we haven't seen the last of those villains cuz their great villains.

We think it was great, and Max Shreck was a cool character. We believe it's a very entertaining film and captured the fantasty of Batman perfectly.

What the hell are you trying to argue? Opinion?

Oh and FYI, they went with another director because Burton said no to a third before the second was even released, he no longer wanted to direct anymore Batman films, he only served as producer on Forever. Keaton, Elfman, Burton, all said no to a third.

Penguin was really the one thing I wasn't a big fan of in Returns.

Look guys, I know this is slightly off...well way off topic, but i think you should read this.....OH MY GOSH

Holmes For Wonder Woman Role???
Date: August 16, 2007

Please Lord. Please let it not be true!

Let me get down on both knees. Lord? Ryan here.

I've sat through some bad comic book movies. I have. But now comes the news that Katie Holmes wants to be Wonder Woman? Do producers really have any brains or are they really just humoring Mrs. Cruise?

I love Batman Begins but every time I saw her face on screen I swear it was going to DROOP off. Then they dropped her from the sequel and I was happy. I rejoiced. I said thank you onto the Lord and all was well.

What is the news that came out?

Well it seems that Katie headed home to have a secret meeting with her agents and producers about starring in the big-screen version of the popular ‘70s television series Wonder Woman. “Katie apparently didn’t want Tom to be a part of the discussions,” the source tells Star magazine.

The movie version of Wonder Woman has been bouncing around Hollywood for years, but with the success of Spider-Man, Transformers and other blockbusters based on cartoons and toys, it’s been moved to the front burner.

“The movie’s only at the discussion state, but Katie feels this role as a kick-ass superhero will put her back in the public eye,” the source says. “She wants to show her stuff, and she wants to prove that she can stand on her own two feet without Tom’s help. Tom, at times, feels compelled to oversee Katie’s career, but Katie is bent on doing this alone. She actually scheduled the meeting when she knew Tom wasn’t going to be able to be there.” Cruise has been filming the WWII themed Valkyrie in Berlin since July.

Please excuse the "Katie said this Tom said that" quotes but this did come from a tabloid magazine. You know what? I believe the tabloids most of all!

So Lord...if you are out there. I'd rather die, go to hell, and watch Batman & Robin, Tank Girl, and Spider-Man 3 over and over for INFINITY then let Holmes get this role. She's like what? 5 foot nothing? 8 pounds?

If she walked up trying to stop me I'd laugh at her. Then tell her to go buy a new outfit because the "big girl Wonder Woman bust" is falling off of her. I wouldn't even fire my gun at her, I'd take one well placed throw at her head WITH THE GUN and knock her out. My grandma Flo would kick the crap out of Wonder Woman Katie.

But that's just my two cents. Seriously? Is Jessica Biel really not available!?!?!? Charlize Theron??? I mean Sandra Bullock is 190 years old now but she's still sexy!!! Producers please call me ASAP so we can talk some real casting!

And in My opinion was that it was far inferior movie to the first one and not a good Batman movie at all. That wasn't fantasy that was a nightmare. So clam down already.

Oh and FYI, if you get the restored DVD BAtman movie series package version that came out last year with all the interviews of the directors and actors,e etc, for each movie in the last series, Burton says he didn't want to do them anymore but Janette Kahn (Dc publisher at the time and Sam Hamm, screenwriter) give another story altogether on why Tim Burton wasn't chosen to Director and only produce Batman Forever, which has to do with the bad reaction mainstream audiences had to Batman Returns.

A Batman movie with penguins walking down Gotham with bombs strapped to their backs. Ridiculous. Where was the people anyway?

And while you're at it check out Sam Hamm very quick denial and distanting himself on having the Joker be the Wayne's killer (it's not in his script) and how that was a Burton decision that Peter Guber (the porducer) didn't really care for.

Penguin was really the one thing I wasn't a big fan of in Returns.

To be honest it was Burton that got me to like the character. Before Burton's take on Penguin I thought the character was basically a pointy nosed boring fatass. I thought it actually made the character interesting that he was more on the deformed side and was more than just a night club owner/jewel & bank robber type.

You just lost any and all credibility! You actually believe tabloid magazines like the star and enquirer!? Those are mostly lies based on rumours that start off from those types of "well so and so's husbands daughters friend said this happened".

I do have to agree with you though that Katie Holmes for Wonder Woman is one of the worst casting decisions ever if this turns out to be true.

I know Hamm didn't want Joker to be the kill of his parents, but what the hell does Sam Hamm writing Batman '89 has to do with the discussion of Batman Returns which should be a discussion about recycling villains.

I don't care if people think of me as a sexist pig but Wonder Woman to me needs to be busty. Katie doesn't have much going on there, at least not nearly big enough for Wonder Woman.

Why not re-use villains? Its like in the comics, every one wants a chance at a character and tell a story with them. So why not?

She needs to be sexy, and taller. Katie is neither of these.

Well, Sam Hamm is creditied with as one of the writer's for BAtman Returns (as well as Batman) and I brought him up becasue his story for WHY Burton wasn't chosen to direct BATMAN FOREVER it a different version than Burton's himself.

From Wikepedia: on BATMAN Returns reaction:

However, some others found the film to be overly dark and sadistic and criticized it as inappropriate for children (Leonard Maltin for instance, regarded in his review of Batman Returns as a "nasty, nihilstic nightmare movie" with a dark, mean-spirited and often incoherent screenplay); McDonald's marketing tie-ins, including special cups and Happy Meal toys, were protested by parents' groups because they thought that Danny DeVito's Penguin portrayal would give children nightmares.

In addition to criticisms of the film's tone and demeanor, some found Burton's interpretation of the central characters problematic, arguing that the Penguin's physical deformity and homicidal tendencies, Catwoman's degenerative mental state, and Batman's brooding melancholy, as well as his tendency to kill criminals, simply added to the somber and unsettling nature of the film.

Batman Returns was released June 19, 1992. On its opening weekend it made $45,687,711, which at the time was a record for it's opening weekend.

It made $162,831,698 in North America, largely disappointing to Warner Brothers and the media. It added $104,000,000 around the world. Its total gross was $266,831,698.

Its low gross can be attributed as to why Warner Brothers felt the need to make Batman Forever, the next Batman film, so different.

This is all true, look at what the studio did to Forever, even with the deleted footage, they removed everything REMOTELY dark from that film.

Agree with you 100% and I wasn't a fan of Devito's Penguin either. I was more disturbed and sickened than actually thought he was cool. The nose-biting part is just a "wtf" moment for me. Burton's Catwoman, dreary backgrounds and backdrops, Batman, Max---all loved.

Just two put my 2 cents in...
Batman Returns was great and Max was a great add on in the movie...but like Batman 89...it strayed away from the feel and consistency of the comics...the characters werent the same.....and Batman 89-Batman And Robin...are completely different movies compared to Batman Begins...
Also I Dont Mind if we Recycle villians...

and Katie wont be Wonder Woman.......ill make sure of it;)...bahaha
