I beat it on Veteran. Have about 10 achievements left to get. Working on my Professional game right now, already through chapter one without much hassle. Sheva with the upgraded, infinite ammo magnum is pretty much unstopabble, and plays half of the game for you.

Damn man! Awesome.

I'm almost to chapter 5-3. I've been really slacking on my gaming the last couple of days, but liking it a lot still.

Oh, and I recommend the rotten egg duplication glitch to anyone having trouble with money and upgrading weapons etc..

Good god Professional is hard. You pretty much need another person if you want to get S ranks on levels like 2-3 and 3-3, where you're in motion or arent allowed to use your actual weapons. And while Sheva is good with straight up plowing through enemies with the AI, she doesn't seem to prioritize that guys with dynamite and molotovs will kill you a hell of a lot faster than the guys with the bow and arrows.

Anyway, got the all weapons upgraded achievement. The only other collection one I need is for getting all four eggs. Haven't seen gold or brown though, but keeping some white and rotten in my inventory in case I do run into some. After that I just have to kill an enemy with a transformer, deflect an arrow with my knife, blow a guys head off while he's jumping, and a couple others and I'll have 1000/1000.

Also, Mercs mode is pretty awesome, and I love the fact that to unlock the rest of the characters you only need A rankings. I've got
Jill
and Weskers first outfits unlocked already.

Keep killing the chickens in the marshland levels, I forget which one, but kill them, look at their eggs, walk back to original spawn, and they'll spawn again, kill them, repeat.

Might take a while.

Yes. Capcom has said so themselves and things in Umbrella Chronicles with Ada's missions backed this up.

Ada was in Umbrella Chronicles? Huh. I beat the co-op missions with a friend but only got to the first of the final levels with Wesker (when you fight two giant dudes) before turning it off.

I assumed considering the ending, Mr. X and how they deal with Mrs. Birkin as well as how Leon finds the reporter that it was Leon A/Claire B, especially with Claire lugging around the kid. Plus Ada's "death" was much more dramatic in Leon A. Go figure. I have thought it was Leon A/Claire B for 9 or 10 years, I ain't stopping now. :D

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, so forgive me if they have (I'm somewhat pressed for time, so I can't dig through the last few pages), but for those of you who said earlier you were wanting more Chris, you'll be dissappointed:

http://www.psu.com/Resident-Evil-5-is-new-direction-for-series,-says-Capcom-News--a006690-p0.php

Capcom’s Chris Kramer has declared that Resident Evil 5 signals a new direction for the venerable survival horror series, with the sequel “waving goodbye” to many of the storylines and characters seen in previous installments - or as Kramer puts it, 'act one' of the saga.

Speaking to Major Nelson in a recent podcast, the communications boss stated, “It’s a really good time for new players to jump in, because what we’re doing is kind of waving goodbye to a lot of storyline elements from, essentially, act one of the Resident Evil franchise.”

“Resident evil 5 is really setting the franchise up for what’s going to happen now going forwards, so establishing new characters and storylines, and pretty much a new direction for the game.”

Kramer reiterated previous comments regarding RE5’s position as an action game as opposed to the traditional survival horror experience of old, adding that newcomers shouldn’t worry about catching up on the storyline.

“If you’re late to the party and you haven’t been playing the games for the past 15 years, all you need to know is that the game’s a lot of fun and just filled with action, so you don’t have to worry about the plot, as we’re kind up picking up and starting afresh.”

If that was the case, the final installment should've included all the heroes from the saga.

We've seen everyone at least twice now, so going back to a storyline about Chris, Jill, and Wesker, the main survivors from RE1, is the perfect way to bookend the series, I'd say. I'd still like to see a RE 4.5 thing where it's about Jill and Chris in Spencers castle, done in the style or REmake.

Anyway, one achievement left. Beating it on Professional.

Got 900/1000 achievements, with only "take it to the max" and "War Hero" left. Then I got my PS3 special edition, from which I got 10 trophies in the first two stages already

That's the one thing I can appreciate about this being the "last", but it feels like an expansion pack.

I guess you could put it that way. :o It feels hollow. I still love playing it but, eh, should have been more. I blame it on the co-op.

You guys might know about this, but i just found out there's a glitch in chap 3.1 that lets you basically get the rocket launcher for free every time you load up 3.1 and claim it from the shipwreck. You just grab it, quit and save, and restart the level. I'm got 5 of them now and im gonna just rocket launcher the bosses.

-sigh- So there's a good chance we'll be playing a bunch of newbies in 6? That sucks. I mean the story does seem pretty final from what I've played so far, but why can't they carry the series in new directions with the characters we love?

There's no closure as to what happened to Sherry Birkin and to even Steve's body. There's no closure to the Ada/Leon story. There's too much that could still be explored with the original characters.

There is one major subplot that hasn't been wrapped up (I am currently in Chapter 5, so I don't know the ending of the game, but I can guess this is not in it) and her name is Ada Wong.

That is a gaping hole if this is the last installment of what we perceive as Resident Evil, then.

I think when they say that they're done with the first part of the plot, that they're done with anything and everything relating to Umbrella, and possibly evil pharmacutical companies in general. I think we're going to see some more bio-terrorism stuff, which could easily encorporate some of the past characters in non-playable roles, and even continue some of the dangling threads from that I'm sure they left on purpose in case whatever they do in 6 is a failure.

And on the subject of playing as a bunch of noobs, before RE2 Leon was just some new guy. Just because a character is new, doesn't mean they're bad and cant rise to the popularity of the original characters.

Well, it's much too late in the franchise to hand it over to a bunch of noobs. People hear Resident Evil and they want one of the main 4 (Chris, Jill, Leon, and Claire) as their playable character or a supporting character of the main 4. (Rebecca, Ada, Barry, Carlos, etc).

I can't see a new character in the lead role working unless they are partnering them up with one of the past characters. All the main 4 are involved in either the B.S.A.A. or something dealing against anti-terrorism anyways, so why not continue with them anyways?

Because Capcom is probably sick of writing only for the same 4 characters? I'd personally rather see Billy Coen or Carlos come back, as we haven't heard a damn thing about either of them since their respective games.

I would be for that too. I'd just prefer there to ALWAYS be a connection to the original 4. I really really don't want to see them disappear. They are too strong of characters to be gone from the series, just because..

Wesker is dead. I know he's the final boss, it only makes sense at this point. I'm at 6-1.

Meh, Code Veronica set up so much for an epic showdown. When I thought of Umbrella going down, I thought of every character from the previous games returning for an all-star outing. Instead, we get it as a small scenario in Umbrella Chronicles with only Chris and Jill in a sub-par rail shooter.

I wanted to know what role Sherry would play as Wesker hinted that there was something about her [and the fact that Capcom officially deemed Claire A/Leon B the true RE2 further hinting that]. Wesker also hinted at bringing Steve back in some fashion as well. Barry's epilogue said he had to leave his family to help Chris and Jill [Only we see him for 5 seconds in the RE3 ending]. Rebecca never had any closure either. The game timeline spanned 10 long years on screen, and there's absolutely NOTHING to show for it even off screen for these guys.

Capcom, you're starting to suck. At least MGS4 wrapped up every single character's story, and actually knew how to keep it cohesive enough.

Quite frankly, the only RE character who is still living that I really like is [blackout]Jill, seeing as they killed Wesker, my favorite.[/blackout] So she's the only one I'd really really love to see return. Other than that, I'm all for something new. People were pissed off when RE4 changed the series, and then came around when they realized how good it was, and I'm sure the same will happen with RE6.

[blackout]Everytime I watch the last rocket cinematic, I can't get over the fact the rockets fly past his head. Wesker should still be alive. That'd be sexy. :o[/blackout]

Agreed on that same character. Favorite character from my favorite game of the series.
