I find it kind of odd how ppl complain about Weskers "abilities" when you are seeing 50 foot tall creatures with a skirt made of ppl. Its like 'oh i can accept that giant monster, but someone having super human abilities, eh thats pushing it'. Doesn't really make alot of sense to me. I guess with everything else going on around me, Wesker doing what he does never really phased me. I mean, it actually seemed tame, comparatively.

So whats the verdict on this game? I had no intentions of getting it until it dropped in price and I have an oppurtunity to get it for $30 next week. Is it worth it, especially if I plan on playing alone

I knew it was incoming, but anyway...

I was mostly referencing the way it doesn't fit the character of Wesker and, as I stated, it's not just the powers, it's the whole aspect of him 'wanting to become a God.' Like I said, it's not as if we knew Wesker a lot, but I don't think it fits what we say of him at all in the past to be honest. It just doesn't fit at all, either in the series, game or character to me. If it does to you, more power to you, but to me it doesn't

And giant mutations aren't exactly the same as teleportation and the ability to catch missiles. I honestly would have a much easy time buying into the former in the context of the series

Despite all the problems I have with it, I would solidly say yes, especially for that price

I just dont see it. How does it not fit the character of Albert Wesker? Iv always felt as though Wesker wanted much more than what was shown. Iv always felt he wanted to be more than a pawn or more than someones creation(especially after he found out he was a creation).

I still say that once I saw that Uroboros moster, what Wesker was capable of, just didnt phase me.

Well, like I said, if you see it, fine. I don't though, I never saw him as a pawn at all. It's obvious that he was pulling the strings almost from the beginning to be the big bad. Just not feeling this new aspect of wanting to be God and control the world with a zombie army. If you do, I really do mean it's fine, I'm not being condescending. Wesker was a vague character and this really just does not fit how I personally thought of him at all.

Oh yea, i see what ya mean by wanting to be God but what else was there for him? I mean its obvious he was never motivated by money, but power. He wanted control. Maybe they shoulda used a different term other than "God"?

Well, I would have seen him wanting to 'run' the world ala a Big Brother type situation or something, but becoming some supreme being ruling our a world of infected folk. It just don't jive with me

Ohhhhh yeaaa. I see what ya mean. Yea, im with you on that. I must of have just blocked that out of my memory. Yea the whole supreme race thing, yea i see where ur coming from.

Yeah, it was when they were talking about getting people infected and letting evolution choose who made the cut and who got turned into a wormy or whatever with Wesker at the top of the hill.

Like I said I haven't finished it, yet, so the story might take a twist or whatever.

Yea im with you on that tho. Deff would have preferred Wesker either just wanting to blow the world up or running it via a big brother as you stated.

I like Wesker wanting to rule a world of his own creation. He's been talking about how imperfect everyone else is for some time now.
I don't like Wesker becoming a B.O.W., but I can respect the decision even if I don't agree with it. The serum overdose brought aggressive behavior out of him, and evil men tend to make stupid moves in their last hours.
Still, I would've been just peachy if the bullet time and the final boss fight were absent.

Wesker has always been a machicavellian villain, and incredibly vein. There's no reason he wouldn't consider himself almost a god compared to normal people already, and he was just taking it a bit further.

Also, everyone needs to shut the hell up with this teleportation crap. He doesn't teleport. He's just very, very fast. You see this in the actual game, you see it when you play as him in Mercs and do his rush melee attacks. He's like the Flash, not Nightcrawler.

The game doesn't make a good distinction between super speed and the disappearing act he does. At first, I thought Matt had a point when he said maybe it's a stylistic choice. But there are points where there are only two explanations: he moved at the speed of light temporarily...while standing still, in some cases...or he can teleport.

I'm even more confused by how Chris could get to the override control faster than Wesker. So if it is super speed, does he only move fast enough to disappear over very short distances? But doesn't he disappear from some distance away in the flashback to when Chris was in the BSAA? Did the second injection weaken him further? Or should I not bother asking at this point?

The second injection weakened him, and also, he can only do it over short distances for short periods of time, if how you use the ability in Mercenaries mode is canon. Any more than a few steps totally kills your life meter.

I haven't gotten him in Mercenaries Mode so I don't know about that, but what he does in single player in the cutscenes looks much more like a short teleport then moving really fast to me. In fact, now that you mention it I think what he does in the cinematics look a lot like small Nightcrawler teleportation .

When you fight him, though it does look more like he's just moving fast, but every once in awhile he pulls off the black cloud puff thing. It always looked like a teleport to me

Just got done playing up to chapter 4. BEST GAME EVER. Well, best game I've played in a long long time anyway. It's absolutely fantastic. Better than RE4 IMO

Hey guys I just got to the oil field. Id be farther but i'm also re playing Res 4 along with 5. Quick question though. How do you go about unlocking characters for Mercs?

Getting a B or above in a Mercs stage unlocks another stage, getting an A or above unlocks a character. If you get an A in every stage, you'll unlock all the characters and all the other stages. Easiest way is Chris until you unlock Chris in Safari gear, who with his machine gun/magnum/dual rocket launchers combo is pretty much unstoppable. STARS Wesker also looks to be insane in it, though I havent used that variant of him yet, as he has a pistol, a magnum, and the triple barrled shotgun. He is of course the last one you unlock.

Damn all iv unlocked is the Chris Safari. Its a pain to get the amount of points needed to get the A.

Holy crap i HATE the prison level! Im never going to unlock S.T.A.R.S Wesker. What a pain in the ass.

It's such a ***** to get behind the final boss to do the stabby death cut scene.

I didn't know about that part, i just kept shooting him till i ran out of bullets. Then when all i could do was knife him in the back i saw the prompts. Also question how do you go about getting the guns with the infinite ammo

Completely upgrade which ever gun you want the infinite ammo for, then purchase said gun in the bonus features settings with the points you have accumulated throughout ur playtime.

Finally beat the game. Overall I really enjoyed it.

Took me 11 hours, 13 minutes. That can't be said for too many games nowadays.

Also bought all the weaons and upgraded all of them, so now I have to work on getting exchange points to buy everything.
