The video that I just posted, its awesome graphics, I think thats what the game looks like right now. Its sweet theres soldiers yelling at you to hurry up and not fall behind, there's a helcarrier that drops supplies for you in this huge box, there are little leapers coming down off the walls. Just check it out its really cool.

It's a visual element. If you can't see it, then I can't help you.

you still don't understanding how a lighting model effects the visable detail still it seems. the resistance pic is a massive close up aswell so they are incomparible detail wise for that reason. it shows the wrinkles on the guys forehead in as much detail as you'd see at that distance anyway.

The Gears of War pic is also a close-up, plus you can see that the anatomy of the Gears of War character model AND the size of the assets such as the gun and the armor is significantly bigger, which negates the difference of perception quite a bit. And the lighting is fine in both pictures - at least good enough to notice the finer details in both of them. So what exactly is the problem?

so the lighting is fine now in both pictures? it's not better in one than the other?

bit of a contradiction with a few posts ago.

stop confusing the terms.
lighting as it pertains to general intensity and lighting as we would discuss in computer graphics terms.

detail of bumps is aparent by the shadow it casts, and the light it reflects. the lighting model affects these. textures don't fake shadow anymore. they don't need to with advanced lighting models.

I said Gears of War had superior lighting, but that didn't mean Resistance's was crap. When I said about the lighting being "fine", it meant that even though one is better than the other, they both still had ample illumination to highlight the finer details.

I think you're the one who's confused here, considering how that sentence doesn't even make sense.

Uh, so? Clearly the Resistance lighting model is competent enough to highlight the bumps on the soldier's shirt and the fading wrinkles on his forehead. Seems like you're just grasping for loose straws here.

I hope you guys are blown away, I think the graphics look really tight, they are pretty sweet. I love the Helcarrier and the smoke effects they are pretty sweet. But what I love is when you fall down and the soldier is telling you to get your ass up....I hope you guys like the graphics

they'll look better with better lighting. some of the texture still has lighting burnt in so to speak. there are the bits that would never reflect light at any angle. the bumps on the shirt are actual geometry in the most part. ie constructed out of vertexes. the fabric texture doesn't bump so much itself, as of yet, but fabrics don't much in real life either.

I gave up on this bloody video a long time ago. Sometimes when downloading our router decides not to enable us to view the internet at all, and this is what mine decided to do whilst trying to download this bloody thing. Had to switch off the router, blah blah blah.

By the way, if anyone can help me with that it'd be great. Sometimes I can download and the internet will work fine. No noticeable slowdown at all. Other times, the page cannot be displayed flashes up in an instant. It doesn't even attempt to load. There has to be a way around this.

^Yeah thats true, personally I think these graphics are amazing, they are exactly like the renders, i'm probable getting you're guys hopes up way to high on my excitment so i'm sorry if you're disappointed.

I love though how everyone moves and the soldiers yelling to get you as up when you run into battle. I think this game is definalty promising.

On the site it says Resistance has 12 HUGE levels for single player i'm guessing an hour each or more...at least thats the vibe i'm getting from Insomniac. I also believe Insomniac said something about expanding the story maybe VIA online, where they will have new levels and new characters that you meet...not sure but it would be cool. They might just branch it off into a two or three games because Josh Wall said the story is huge and its going where people really aren't expecting it to go.
