Smarties Meltdown was so bad it was 'amazing', and it got a 0/10, so I guess I won't disagree with you.

Hahaha

They did a list of all the games they've ever given 0 and 1 a few months back... some dancing game also got a zero too. Nothing I'd ever heard of.

Yeah and I couldn't wait until 2008, I can't wait to get my PS3 in November, I hope I am able to get one:(

I'll tell you what Lizard, if you can't get one, and I can, then I'll sell mine to you. The only question is, for how much? :woot:

^Hahahahahah:( You're evil. Yeah I felt bad for the people over in Europe so I was like just send me money and i'll buy it over here and ship it to you but then I got to thinking over seas and people opening up the packages and....Yeah it would've been bad.

I just feel bad how Europe got screwed:(

I have a good feeling they'll make an exception to that rule for this one.
Then you have bad intuition.

Whoever picked 1/10 is just being stupid. The game isn't going to get 1/10 by critics. We can already see it's not a 1/10 game.

I voted 9/10. I think it will score well. If not 9/10, I think at least 8/10.

The game is obviously terrible, and easily forgettable. Ignoring reviews that will be superficially inflated, the game probably won't be more than a mediocre 4-5/10, and that's giving it a lot of ground. It'll probably take you guys a few years to admit that it's terrible, once you have games that are actually good to take it's place.

This is all coming from your vast experience of playing Resistance, naturally?

I don't see this game scoring a single review at less than 7/10. Quite why you're so quick to hate this game when you haven't laid a finger on it I don't know.

It goes both ways Avalanche. Don't tell me I can't say this game is bad without playing it and then say it'll be great....without playing it. And aside from that, I don't need to play games to know that they're going to be bad. I don't need hands-on time with Big Mother Truckers to tell you it's garbage, and I don't need to play "Smarties Meltdown" to tell you it earned it's 0/10, I can tell just by it's name. Some games are just obviously bad, no hand's on needed. Resistance is one of those. It will be hyped, it will be released to inflated reviews, and then it will be forgotten when games that actually don't suck are released. Quite why you're so quick to praise this game when you haven't laid a finger on it, I don't know.

He has a little thing called objectivity I think, commenting on his likes and dislikes of what he's seen so far. :o

No one who has followed the development of this game would state they think it looks like a 4/10 game. There's nothing 4/10 about it. I'm not saying it's going to blow anyone away, or that it's a killer game, but you're slating the game with little in the way of justification.

As for the reviews, I like how you've already decided they'll be inflated, in preparation for the good reviews. Of course, any such good reviews are 'inflated'. Resistance couldn't possibly score a good review without inflation of some sort.

Ah, so "objective" = able to judge games without having played them, while also moaning about others doing the same thing? Gotcha.

I actually have some balance to my views. I don't think it will set the world on fire, or be particularly inventive, but it looks as though it will do what it does well.

You just outright hate every aspect of the game with very little cause.

"Where's the 0/10 option." :whatever:

No one.......except for the vast majority of the people who have posted in this thread. Oh, but they dislike a big PS3 games, they're fanboys, I forgot. Yes, there's plenty of things that scream 4/10 about this game. There's the terrible developer, the last-gen graphics, the laugh-out-loud terrible story, the hilarious banter about "omg 22 gigz!1!!1", and so on. Everything about it screams "mediocre". If it weren't a 1st party launch title, it'd be looked at with all the excitement of the latest Majesco offering. And no, I'm not "slating the game with little in the way of justification", I've been providing justification for most of this thread. I'm tired of restating the same damn things over and over again, especially when the majority of the people already agree with me. I don't need to include a laundry list of reasons every time I mention that this game is mediocre garbage.

And no, I didn't decide the reviews would be inflated so that I have some sort of cover if the game gets great reviews, I could care less if it gets great reviews, it's not like I've never bad mouthed a game that gets good scores before. Here, watch. Final Fantasy? Garbage. Metal Gear? Barely a tolerable rental. Street Fighter II? Pfft. I don't care. I'm not saying "reviews will be inflated" to cover myself, I'm saying "reviews will be inflated" because I know from experience that they will be. It's pretty obvious to anyone who's followed gaming for any length of time.

You've clearly missed the point, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised, that seems to happen a lot with you. Let's see if I can't try to point you in the right direction. See how my post focused entirely on you pissing and moaning that I judged a game without playing it, while you did the same? See how Zenien responded to that post with her objective stuff? See how I then replied to that again with something about you pissing and moaning about judging games before playing them, while doing the same yourself? See how it has nothing to do with how objective you are or aren't (aren't)? See how it's moronic to continue with that line of thinking in this discussion then?

What's moronic is the fact you need to come into the PS3 forum and bash away. It's all a little bit tired.

Your dislike of Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid, which have proved hits with both the public and the critics, only serve to show you're not particularly adept in understanding what the majority of the public and critics want in a game.

I can only assume your views on Resistance are similarly misguided.

Yeah, I've heard that song and dance before. People disagree. People don't like things. It's a fact of life, get over it. It's not my fault that most of the PS3 news/games have been crap lately. If you think I'm "bashing away" just for the hell of it, you might wanna go to another forum, or even step outside, and see that the vast majority of the gaming community is right beside of me, saying "what the **** is wrong with Sony?". Expressing discontent (one of the chief purposes of a forum) isn't trolling, which you guys sadly can't seem to grasp. "OMG, someone not turning a blind eye to the huge mess that is the PS3, he must be a troll!" This "troll" stuff has become a joke, find a new explanation for someone disagreeing with you kids.

Actually, if you'd like to live in the real world for a second, each new iteration of the series has been met with less and less sales. So I guess I could say the situation is actually the exact opposite of what you just said, but as that statement would include logic and truth, you'd probably just ignore it out of habit, so I'd be wasting my time.

Maybe with Metal Gear Solid, but not Final Fantasy.

Whilst VII remains the biggest seller, X sold more than either VIII or IX could manage. XI was online only, so obviously sold less, and XII has yet to be released worldwide.

The Final Fantasy series has actually remained pretty constant, hitting worldwide figures of 8 million for each iteration.

FFXII recently scored a perfect 40/40 in Famitsu, a higher mark than any other game in the series.

Final Fantasy is far from ailing.

Best I can do:(

These gameplay clips look sweet.

^

I actually really don't like the gameplay trailer that takes place on the staircase. Really disapointing in comparison to what we've seen before.

^Well they were trying to introduce The Slip Skulls, that was the whole purpose. Iloved how he leapt from one wall to the other. I was like :wow:

Really cool interview on Gametrailers, its really tight you guys should check it out.

Also tonight Resistance: Fall of Man will be featured on Gamehead tonight on spike t.v. for those interested:D

Some sweet news just came out on 1.up.com. On their radio pod cast supposedly they are doing another huge article on Resistance Fall of Man and showing some of the new weapons that we haven't seen at Tokoyo Game Shot. The new dueal wielding weapon in the TGS trailer is called "The Reaper" and its doing something no other first person shooter has done before. Seeing how there are two guns what you can do is aim them in opposite directions and target two diffrent guys at once. I thought that was sweet, really that is something new.

LIZARD I will forgive you for still not understanding that whole discussion.

It was never about the muzzle flash. It was about the lack of any accompanying Ambient Lighting Model... Something which is now clearly in the game in a limited capacity.
