The Amazing Spider-Man Rhys Ifans Cast as The Lizard

exactly, but that said it would have been nice if the nice doctor suddenly turned into the lizard, character the general audience are familier with. I think it would have had a bigger impact than the new conners will have.

Dylan Baker is pissed

Dylan Baker and Rhys Ifans both seem to have something.....awesome in them about portraying Dr. Connors.

I personally found Baker to be meh. Nothing special. But i've enjoyed Ifans in the films i've seen him, and i'm really looking forward to see him as Connors.

What didn't you like about Baker? I always found him to be very antural in the role, which is a good thing, IMO.

Baker would have been good, the tone of the Spidey flicks for The Lizard wasn't.

He just never captured me. And that may be more to do with how he was written. I found most of the dialogue and acting in the previous films to be very meh, bar one or two performers.

One of the things I've said for years on these boards is that I personally DON'T think that Dr Connors should transform back and forth from the Lizard several times in the movie.
A fast transformation is fine in the comics, but the idea of a man transforming so quickly into a giant lizard, and then doing it again several times, isn't very-- dare I say it -- realistic in a screen version.

I've always hoped that Connors' transformation into the Lizard would be a slow one, like Jeff Goldblum in The Fly. Thus we can see the actor going through various stages of practical makeup before the full CGI Lizard comes in. Also, the transformation should just happen once, with Connors remaining the Lizard until he's cured, imprisoned or dies, whichever happens in the movie.

PS - I don't want him to die. :liz:

We don't know for sure but...

Apparently, he has 'Jekyll and Hyde' syndrome where he transforms back after a while, but he keeps transforming because of his addiction to the formula.

Wouldn't going back and forth between man and monster give a sense of tragedy for the character? I think it would add some drama to the whole thing. Hoping that by the end, he can be cured, or at least put out of his misery.

Tbh, I'm fine with it either way.
Supposedly, as socool said, there's a Jekkl and Hyde aspect to the transformation, which could work if done correctly.

Well, any character that transforms into something unlike himself has a Jekyll-and-Hyde aspect, but I'll admit I didn't know about Connors supposedly [blackout]being addicted to the Lizard formula[/blackout] in the new script.
It's just that the whole concept of a man growing scales, a tail and a large lizard snout, and then reverting back to normal in short periods of time seems a bit too much like morphing or magic in the somewhat more scientifically realistic world of the movie Spidey.

But yeah -- Sandman's kind of not the most realistic thing either, I guess.

There's no confirmation of Connors being addicted to it. It was stated by Poni_Boy, whose description of the trailer we were supposed to have was a complete opposite of what we actually got.

He may lie or actually be right, but nothing is confirmed of how the formula will affect Connors and his behavior.

It's not that he [BLACKOUT]is addicted, more the fact that he's sees progress despite the side-effect(green blotches, mucus, scales) in a slow transformation, so he intensely take more dosage.[/BLACKOUT]

I was kind of hoping he would have a snout and not be humanoid but it still sounds great! :)

Indeed. I'm hoping that the humanoid-faced Lizard described in the second teaser is an early transformation that might be followed by a more lizardlike version.

So yeah wheres that lizard footage?!

So are Billy and Martha in this?I really hope that family man dynamic is showcased in the movie.

Snout-less look sounds very final. But, hell, what do I know?

Billy's been cast...maybe Connors is a single father? Would help touch the whole "parental base" that Webb seems to be going for.

Me too, like SSM's Lizard. That's my favorite version of him.

PS: Man, the Lizard footage sounds really cool.

A mix of Killer Croc from that pic and the BTAS version is how I'd describe it, but with a long tail and forked tongue.
