The Dark Knight Rises Riddle Me This: The Riddler Characterization Thread

Hmm so should the riddler be a government agent or a person coming from the streets of Gotham?

should be both
a guy who is impersonating an agent to get close to evidence to find out who Batman is.

Maybe he should be the "supposive" new guy that joins the investigation of batman

This is all what I've been thinking for the character. Yeah, he should be joining the investigation for Batman, but secretly is obsessed any trying to figure him out at the same time committing crimes.

But is he gonna wear green? I envision him in a trenchcoat with glasses. And maybe a green tie or something underneath.

nah i wouldn't want him wearing a trenchcoat, inside work he should wear normal clothes with a touhc of green but when he becomes the riddler it should be all green

Im thinking he should wear a casual suit with either a green tie or shirt that would give a little touch of green this wouldn't make it obvious to other investigators later on that he's the riddler

What does everyone think of this whole Riddler reformed stuff in the comics?

Oh lord, are we gonna have the same stupid "Joker shouldn't/won't be wearing purple!" argument that was had before TDK with the Riddler wearing green if he's in the 3rd movie?:whatever:

lolz yea it sounds like it.

If he was in it I would have him in a expensive black suit, with a green pin striped shirt and tie, maybe some question mark cuff-links and tie-pin. Subtle yet still in keeping with the Riddlers costume.

When it comes to the Riddler's design, I believe that the BTAS look is the way to go. This pic came out a little bigger than I expected ( I resized it like 3 times!), oh well...

Something like this should work, maybe a forest green if it HAS to be dark.

I would try to keep him as clean cut as possible. No tattoo's, scars, or anything that would make him stand out. Batman can be chasing the man in a highly populated area of Gotham and Nygma would just take off his green blazer in the crowd and Batman loses him.

does he have to be I mean he's still a good actor.

Should he already be the riddler at the start of the story or should he come in as a government agent or whatever and develop into the villain throughout the story? I'm thinking he should develop into the villain but you could go both ways...what do you think?

Nolan aims higher than television actors in his Batman movies for his main characters, with the exception of Eric Roberts, but James Marsters has never played a major role on the big screen, with the exception of the upcoming Dragonball Evolution, but we all know how that's gonna turn out. I have very little respect for TV actors.

Why? They're not always terrible actors. Many times, that's just the route they decide to take.

If that's what they WANT to do with their lives, that's up to them. But, in general, I think most of them are just not good enough to be on the big screen.

Tv Actors get paid more then Movie actors
Charlie Sheen did West wing
and now writing for tv shows were getting bette
ractors get a lump sum for one movie because it may flop
tv actors are paid per episode
so if it's a hit they get paid more

Na not yet. It's weird, I get thoughts that I think are awesome, but I find it hard to piece them together. I've got a good idea for a opening few scenes and a idea for the finale, but it's just the middle part thats tricky. :D I might right a full rough treatment tomora, it's a bit late in the day now.

Yeah me too its weird because whenever i think of what the story should be its either the beginning or end that i can only come up with...I have a pitch for the beginning... The Riddler could set the stage by tracking down Mr Reese and killing him but im not sure if he should be the riddler from the start or not...I thought of something for the end...The riddler could figure out who batman is and try to exploit it but somehow he gets into an accident or delima and gets knocked out and gets amnesia like he did in the comics...What do you think?

WHy do people Want the riddler I'm wondering?
I mean The nolan series shows the rise of the freaks like Joker and Scarecrow, Two Face. Why throw in some guy who is just obsessed with Riddles? Thats not really freakish at least not like other villains such as Bane, Black MAsk, Deadshot.
Riddler doesnt even kill that much and hes not insane, just obsessed. Why use a subpar villain?

Your logic is nonexistent. The Riddler is a far better villain that the three you mentioned put together. Who says a villain must kill lots and lots or be insane to be great?
