Ridley Scott's "Exodus"

Same here.

Question: anyone wondering why they're not gonna film in Israel for this one? I know Spain and Morocco have some nice locations (where they are filming) but still.. Egypt I understand since that country isn't a really safe place to film right now.
Last I heard about a project about Moses, I heard they were gonna film it 300 style, with blue screen and all the sets and scenery later added in.

I read somewhere that Scott is good friends with the king of Morocco so maybe he got some deal for shooting there?

Really? Hmm, that's likely then.

Ridley made Black Hawk Down, Body of Lies and Kingdom of Heaven in Morocco too. Might not be too far off the truth.

Anyway, Christian Bale in a Ridley Scott Biblical Epic. My body is ready.

I think that was the plan when it was pitched by the two original writers but Zaillian came onboard for the re-write and when he submitted the revised version, that's when it got fast tracked. I'm guessing that things have significantly changed since then.

He probably have a frequent visitor discount or something. :hehe:

Oh so they budget is committed to be 150 million. That's fairly expensive and I imagine it will shoot on location.

But seriously who needs this. Even with today's numbers they can't top The 10 Commandments.

Edgerton is no Bryner and Bale is most certainly no Heston. The spectacle in the 10 Commandments was insane.

I'm guessing this:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/summer-box-office-bombs-studios-619389

"This summer proved that scale and spectacle alone won't suffice," says Fox film chief Jim Gianopulos, who has committed to spending $150 million on next summer's biblical epic Exodus, from Ridley Scott, and nearly $200 million on X-Men: Days of Future Past. "Movies need originality and compelling stories and characters. Pure tonnage of effects is not going to cut it."

Either Fox moved the release date from Dec to summer or THR got it wrong.

This movie is going to have to work hard to hit December as it is, they're not going to move the film to summer. THR must have messed up

Yeah, it hasn't even started shooting yet.

They might mean next summer aka 2015. But that is insanely crowded.

But unless you are an established property or James Cameron, you should not release a 150 million dollar production in December and should do so in summer.

Great Gatsby pulled their december release to summer and got nice returns.

Eh... December is a nice time for a movie like this. It's either near Easter or near Christmas. Noah is taking the Easter slot so it makes sense for this to take holiday season slot. Plus if they're poising this to be an awards player, you always go for a Fall release.

So, Darren Aranofsky is making a Noah movie with Russell Crowe and Anthony Hopkins, and Ridley Scott is making a Moses movie with Batman, and yet we STILL can't get a Joshua and the conquest of Cannan movie. I REALLY want to see that movie. Also, I hope that this movie is riddled with plot holes, unexplained ****, and some of the most idiotic characters ever put to screen, I'm looking at you Prometheus.

Yeah December feels like a good time to release this movie.

People can say what they want about Mel Gibson but he's the only film maker that's come the closest to accurately portraying biblical events and did an incredible job with the cast. Hell, Apocalypto had a cast of unkwowns (no white washing and the dilm was great).
These Noah and Moses movies with their white washing is bs and spits in he face of progression and artistic integrity.

That is probably one of the few redeeming qualities of Passion of the Christ.

I liked Passion of the Christ, it was really good.

Passion of the Christ is perhaps the greatest torture porn movie ever made.

And by your logic Passion was a white washing bs as well.[wink]

ps.
and if you want to see a biblically accurate film minus flashback nonsense mumbo jumbo,
see Pasolini's The Gospel According to St. Matthew in which subtitles were directly taken from the scripture.
