Rob Zombie to remake "The Blob".

Kind of sounds like he wants to move away from the idea of a giant slimy alien creature. I hope he doesn't turn the blob into a humanoid figure.

Is he going to turn the blob into some red neck alien who lived in a trailer UFO and was abused so he took his rage out on Earthlings? :cwink:

I love how people act like Rob's the only director who puts his wife in almost everyone of his movies.

Hellooo, Tim Burton.

The difference is other people's wives, Helena Boham Carter, Leslie Mann, etc...they can actually act. Sheri Moon Zombie can't.

Wow, that is sooo witty, It's not like we have not heard the white trash comments 1,000 times... :whatever:

Eh. So she's a homocidal maniac with an insane laugh in her day to day laugh?

I've never seen the blob. Does it even warrant a remake?

It was already remade into a very cool film in the late 80's that followed the plot of the Steve McQueen film pretty close (except the origins of the Blob itself). It will be interesting how different this film is.

Well, it couldn't hurt to hear it one more time. I can't wait to see how Zombie translates the general plot of "Alien blob attacks small town," to "Alien blob attacks some backwater trailer community filled with drug using, beer swigging, wife beating, child molesting red necks."

Yeah, no duh. I've said it about him before too. The only difference is, HBC is leagues ahead of Zombie's wife in terms of actual acting ability.

What about Lisa Marie's DD's Burton pushed in our faces in the late 90's? Oh wait, that doesn't count?

When you're a talented director like Burton, you get some free reign in terms of bad casting.

Yeah, but still, it annoys me that he keeps putting her in starring roles in his films. Especially in H2. :cmad: I havent even seen it yet, but I already feel like her role will be my least favorite aspect of the film.

He puts Sid Haig and Tyler Mane in all his movies too. Does THAT annoy you as well?

And please don't waste your breath with an "at least they can act" comment. Sherri has proven herself a capable actress. And i don't think a Blob remake requires much more than that. :yay:

I don't see how he can make this any better than the 80s remake.

That movie set the bar pretty high with killing the kid you thought was going to be the main character in the first 5 mins, and then killing the kid near the end.

i don't know what movies YOU'RE watching, but she seems to have done quite well in all the movies I'VE seen her in.

True, it was pretty hardcore for the time. But I also remember reading reviews from parents groups on how they made that remake more vicious than the original.

It's about a glob that eats people, even the Simpsons couldn't soften it that much. I'm sure the comments about remakes are going to be pretty funny concidering it has a semi-successful remake...

Well, maybe if RZ didnt create poor white trash characters....

That being said. WHY....this is such an unneeded remake. But not quite as ******ed as The Thing remake. :whatever:

Hey, maybe he should make it all about yuppies, urban thugs, and asains racing cars too?

Oh, this "unneeded remake" has already been re-made before, and it was a modest hit then. Why wouldn't Hollywood remake it? Or is it just because Rob is making it...

I've never seen any of the previous Blob films. I only like Zombie's TDR. 1000 Corpses was nice and Halloween sucked. So this news is bit of a "huh what" to me.

Didn't they already remake this? What the hell is the point of another one (besides money)?

I think you hit the nail on the head.

I can see it now. Some random ***** of a character watches The Blob spit out a dead victim and the character turns to his friend and says, "I would love to rape that mother fuggin corpse."

You must have missed her grating Halloween performance. "Oh okay, so he has a dead cat in his back pack".

Although It's no surprise that people have been *****ing about remakes the last few years or so(I have myself at times) but I do think most of the *****ing for this remake is as you put it, because Rob Zombie is making it. I grew up watching the original and have seen the 80's version a number of times as well. Personally, it's such a simple and when you get down to it, stupid concept/story that I don't see the harm in remaking it just for fun, especially if Zombie is going to try to change it up and make it a bit scarier as he said.

He said he's going to make it darker than the previous two films, an idea my gf had last night was what if instead of the Blob just absorbing you when it eats you if it's acid like to the touch and as it gets larger and moves around you could see the digested bones/corpses writhing about inside since The Blob has always been a jell like substance. That would be one way to make it a bit twisted. Other than that(and the idea I had a page or two back which would essentially rip off The Thing...so screw that idea hehe) I'm not sure what he has planned to update the Blob itself.
