Rogue One Rogue One Box Office Prediction Thread

Anything over 500M DOM is a win in my books. The rest is gravy. Warms my heart to see Star Wars doing so well, what a time to be alive.

I just got back from seeing this for the first time. I saw a Thursday 1:15 PM showing...and that theater was PACKED. There were about 4 empty seats in the room...in a theater that is usually a bit less packed than other, newer theaters in the area.

Wednesday: $18,021,482

Domestic: $358,656,173
Foreign: $295,200,000
Worldwide: $653,856,173

This film is doing great domestically.

Can't beat Star Wars/Lucasfilm in North America. It is THE top cinematic brand. Marvel next, probably. Then Disney animation (both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios), then Batman (the character; doesn't seem to matter which studio or series).

I wish it was doing better internationally. I know China has not got the film yet but I don't know how many people in China like Star Wars.

Huge win. Who would have thought TFA & R1 would be doing almost 1 and a half billion between them domestically!

Its doing fine internationally. One problem for the film last weekend is a lot of theaters are closed in Europe during Christmas. But the amount it makes has gone up each day this week overseas.

China is going to be interesting to watch.

Saw it again today and the theater was packed again. It has been each time and each time the movie got a great ovation.

TFA did $124M in China. With two Chinese actors in R1, I'm guessing it does better.

TFA was also the first Star Wars for China. So, interesting to see.

ROGUE ONE shot up $18M on Friday. Galactic domestic haul is now $393M--#3 of 2016 and just days away from taking down CA: CIVIL WAR.

I was expecting to see more than that on Friday. Peculiar how it stayed relatively flat. I was thinking between $20M and $22M with a fairly steep drop today due to it being New Year's Eve.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things. It's just that this movie's box office run so far has definitely been a bit unusual.

I am hoping after TFA and R1 that episode 8 can do better in china. China is really the one and only place where TFA didn't do that good and may have been the difference between being 3erd WW all time box office and being 2nd. With the success of TFA and now with CF gone I think episode 8 is going to do even bigger numbers WW then TFA did but China is the one big question.

Ep. VIII is going to do much better in all facets due to the death of Carrie Fisher (RIP). China is definitely a puzzle.

I also think 8 could have maybe done better then TFA even with out her death because I think the PT turned a lot of people away from star wars and now after TFA and R1 I think people are even more up for star wars again.

It really isn't a puzzle. TFA was the first Star Wars released in China. They are building the franchise up in the country.

Not really a puzzle at all.
China is just now getting to know Star Wars.
