okay I don't care about the score anymore i've accepted how it can go but doesn't make or break the movie for me that will be my decision

Ah, so this has become the new Man of Steel RT thread, hey?

I just got back from seeing the movie and hour ago. There were aspects I liked, to be sure but... I think that score is going further down. I'm not saying that to cause trouble or anything, but just... prepare yourselves.

I remember the MOS thread

after goin through there im fully prepared for this one

You really didn't like it? How do you rate it 1-10 (and could you compare to your rating for TASM1)?

4 out of it's last 7 ratings were rotten. 70's used to be a plan B, now we're all praying it stays here lmao.

I thought they'd already signed?

Who wrote the dark knight? Maybe get them in!

If the script is the problem they need to kick Kurtzman and Orci
Sadly Orci and Kurtzman are already writing part 3 and working on the Venom spin-off. I'm happy that Drew Goddard is at least writing and directing the Sinister Six, so I think there is more hope for that.

Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan wrote the script, but the former is done with superhero films for now and the latter has his own projects. Also, they're better equipped to handle dark and cold and semi realistic rather than warm and fantastic.

David Goyer helped with the story, but he's a wild card and he's working on BvS.

Spiderman 3 writes itself.

Peter is sad, he misses Gwen, he's depressed. Sitting alone in a cafe, meets the waitress, remembers she lives next door. Oh, jackpot. He is tempted to do the whole love thing, but heres a disturbance, oh look, mysterio. Mysterio plays mind tricks on peter. Peter sad again, pushes MJ away, peter starts snooping, finds this weird slimey black stuff in Richards lab or something, Symbiote suit time. Super depressed peter beats the hell out of some badguys, he goes to beat up mysterio, mysterios mind tricks aren't working, bam, peter beats the hell of out him. Feels bad, Uncle ben responsibilty speech, flashbacks of gwen. MJ brings him out of darkness, spiderman happy. Then he goes and gets his revenge on Harry or something. Oh and mysterio should rob a bank as spiderman cause that was cool in the cartoons.

Ok this is harder then I thought, that was the worst thing I've ever written, and I'm still posting it!

Just adding, we could totally get a super dark, TDK film here folks. Depression, despondance, redemption.

Ends with the whole "I'm spiderman, and I'm happy about it" thing.

I rated TASM about 7/10.

I usually sleep on movies before I rate them (or sometimes even second viewings), just so I have time to really absorb them. But for now...

Like... 5/10, maybe?

It's horrifically paced. There's a lot of scenes, and virtually every one is painfully bloated and many outright repetitive. The tone yo-yos between damn near Batman & Robin to extremely dark and creepy. Too many plots with little point, often frantic direction by Webb. It's not 'grounded' like the first was (which presented it's own problems) and they've gone so far in the other direction that it just feels so... off. It's such a bizarre tone.

Things I liked...

The cinematography, particularly when they were in more 'comic book' mode. The Hans Zimmer 'Supergroup' music was a real treat, one of the more interesting cbm scores around (though even that had some stuff that was just weird). The CGI was extraordinary. I never really gush about CG, but it was phenomenal. Most 'Spidey' scenes/fight scenes. A few others that I won't get into.

A lot of the audience (including one of the two people I was with) loved it, for what it's worth. :yay:

Oh, it's the script. Definitely. And every studio's desire to have The Dark Knight and The Avengers rolled into one as quickly as possible.

Well I'm glad to at least hear that. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Hope I'm not disappointed.

Kinda snickering at all the fans who thought this series would be better than Raimi's when the second installment might drop down to or below the levels of Spider-man 3.

Don't get me wrong, I'm anticipating this flick, so far from the clips I think it's the first time comic-Pete has been nailed (in the first ASM he was just a bully weirdo male Mary Sue with literally no solidified personality and in Raimi's he was just too shy for his own good) but still... the quality of these flicks as of this far has been sub-par on a critical sense and since I didn't trust them that the first would simply be "okay" I'll take myself into this flick with a bit of caution. (I lowered my expectations for SM3 and loved it compared to everyone else because of it.)

Great. I get until 2018 or perhaps beyond of "okay" Spider-man movies after two amazing ones and an "okay" one.

Just what I always wanted. Meh, I'll have fun.

Now let me walk out of here because the best defensive flame-shield is to simply suckerpunch your opinion out there and walk the **** away.

At least wait till you're disappointed by the movie to post something like that. Not because you think it's going to disappoint you based on what others are saying. SMH.

No. I'll be disappointed now. I don't have to be one of those fans who goes "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE MY CHILDHOOOOOOOODDDDDD!!!!" because I am not. You might think any and all complaining amounts to that, but truthfully I don't care. I'll lower my expectations go in, and have a blast. I did it for Spider-man 3 and to this day I love it because of it.

Hopes were high for ASM, to this day I think back to it as "....eh....". My personal enjoyment of a flick isn't any more your concern as your enjoyment is mine. If others love this flick hallelujah!! Sadly, that won't change how I am going to feel until... what is it? 2018? 2019? I forgot how often they plan to make one with the same writing staff.

I have no doubt it's going to be an enjoyable romp, AND FINALLY I get comic-accurate Pete personality from all the clips I've seen, it's just going to lack the impact of the Raimi films for me.

Not sure why that's a big deal for me to voice that.

Okay but im not sure its just me but the way I read was that pretentious because it felt pretentious to me and make your opinion and not what others are stating

I think there were a few typos because I am missing the message a bit here, but I know what you mean. That I'd make up my mind based on critical scores. No, I'm not. I'm basing it on critical scores in relation to the previous film by the same creative staff and my experience of ignoring that as opposed to now.

You can't get any less pretentious than me when I can ignore all the dancing and goofball jazz scenes in Spider-man 3 to write up a lengthy editorial piece on how I actually quite appreciate the biblical ties in relation to Venom. Despite... you know... beingdeadin3mins.

Thank you. We're not mindless zombies who follow just what other people say.

If the script is the problem they need to kick Kurtzman and Orci

To be fair, a lot of the fault could go to the studio or the producers. It's not like cramming a crapton of stuff into their scripts is every writer's first instinct.

Thank you. We're not mindless zombies who follow just what other people say.

So interesting that I'm being called a mindless zombie, when I just said that lowering my expectations will undoubtedly make me enjoy it far more.

Do... you want me to stay hyped and hate it? Waste my $10? Come here and complain more? Or do you temper my expectations, go in, hoot and holler, come back here and talk about everything I loved?

I really like that last option.

I honestly don't think that TASM 2 is below the level of Spider-Man 3.

I honestly don't think that TASM 2 is below the level of Spider-Man 3.

I meant it's on track to meet or go lower on RT. Nothing about objective finite quality; which is a concept I do not believe in. At all. The reason I am snickering is because this reboot was heralded to go above and beyond the last franchise by a large portion of the fanbase because they got more comic-accurate elements. I find this funny because we *might* (that's a keyword) see it hit the same lows in terms of critical reception.

I am not a mystic though. Edit: I'd like to also add, I truthfully don't care.

Alright. I outtie. Sorry for taking that poo on everyone's parade by thinking what I do and having the gall to express it in a public forum. I'll see you guys after May 2nd when I'll probably be doing nothing but glowing about what I loved due to...

you guessed it: tempering my expectations. When you're all in a ruckus about how crowded and jumbled it is, I'll just be geeking for the two minutes Rhino stomps around in NYC.

No. I'll be disappointed now.

Before you've seen the movie. Right. Makes sense. :whatever:

Be disappointed in the feedback, the marketing tactics... Whatever makes you sleep at night, but it's ignorant to say the movie already let you down before even watching it. Give the movie the respect of paying your $15 to see it before criticizing it.

I see how you're lowering all expectations so that way in the slight chance this movie ends up being good, you'll be pleasantly surprised and truly enjoy your experience. It's just sad knowing you've given up though.

Positive= 75% +
Mixed= 60-74%
Negative= 59% down

That's my opinion anways

Wouldn't it make more sense if 50%-59% was mixed? Because it does imply 50% positive and 50% negative. 60 implies satisfactory, and 70 implies good.
