The Dark Knight Rises Roven: Joker Could Return

Joker can and should return.

"Oh I know, let's leave Batman's greatest ever villain out of the final piece to this trilogy!!"

Yea, that would be really clever wouldn't it.

People who say Joker's story is done, you're BSing. You know for a fact that Ledger was alive you would be singing a completely different tune. Don't try to deny it.

But Heath Ledger is dead you say? Well Heath Ledger doesn't own the Joker, he doesn't even own this interpretation of the Joker. No one does apart from Chris and Jonah Nolan.

Don't get me wrong, Heath did a amazing, barn storming job, no doubt. But the people out there saying it would be impossible to top him are exactly the same as the people who were saying Heath would be a crap Joker in the first place.

As for continuity? Who cares? It doesn't have to be the exact same Joker. It doesn't have to be a completely different Joker. I don't think audiences will give a toss if it's a different person, as long as they get to see another, twisted, evil, incredibly visceral performance by the person who gets the gig. I mean, why would they?

Did people care when Alec Baldwin magically changed into Harrison Ford in the Tom Clancy movies? No of course they didn't. But it's a different matter you say? Heath died though you say? Yea, and? While that is tragic this is a character in a film we are talking about, and not just any old character in any old film. It's the Joker in the finale of a Batman trilogy.

If the audience fails to grasp this then they don't deserve to see a Batman movie IMO.

The word of the Lord!

Praise be to God.

Lmao, j/k. But you speak the truth dude. 150% truth.

I'm just not getting into anymore 1000-quotes-per-post wars.

LOLZ Thanks man. Yea I bet later on, all the "non believers" will start replying to that like crazy. :hehe: But I don't wanna argue about it, all that I've posted there is fact IMO.

Let it be known... this is truth.

I'm with you. All the "non-believers" will do yet another about face if The Joker is re-cast too. I'd put money on it.

*Cue 10 million more bad Joker impersonations*

The Ace Of Knaves.... you got a real way with words.. since I heard Heath was signed on and before I even seen TDK I thought well after Nolan said Burtons biggest problem was killing The Joker, I guess he will either end it or recast.... I'd hate to have him just mentioned and being a "gloomy force" behind bars still somewhat and always threatening Gotham... I can imagine it that way if they never made one after TDK... If there is another one I hope he is there... especially if it deals more with people trying to figure out who Batman is... which I have a bit of a hunch it might judging from the end of TDK... Joker was shown as a threat to have him in prison and saying ... his story is done.... thats bologna... His story is never done... I want the Long Halloween approach & I think the people behind BB & TDK even the cast do aswell .... it would be hard to show the freaks taking over Gotham without the king there.... and having him cackling in the dark the whole movie is a ******ed idea.... Id love to see things going on in Gotham and The Joker slowly finding means of escape ... because something inside of him is erupting thinking that Batman is still out there with new foes or whatever it may be while he is getting none of his attention

Thanks! :D

Yea, I just feel with what happened in TDK, it would be foolish to sweep him under the carpet. He is one of about 5 people who know the truth about Dent. They can't just leave him out of it completely if he has that information can they?

No I don't think so.... Jokers story can go on and on and on, I remember seeing Begins and when that big asian dude in prison calls himself the devil, and bruce says he's practice.... I just couldn't help but think of how The Joker is kind of Batmans devil..... He's the one who tests the limits... the 2 big speeches in the TDK just seem like stepping stones to their full fledged relationship... I'd love to see that further explored....

The Joker really does complete Batman... we got that little sign of him at the end of BB and introduced to him in TDK... we need that one last bit.. if Nolan chooses to do another...

Yea when it comes done to it, it's Nolans choice. I'm not saying he can work miracles, I'm just saying that I believe he has to ability to take advantage of the character of Joker. Not just introduce him and say "Oh no, I can't think of anything else to do with him now!"

And I don't know about anyone else, but why does there HAVE to be a new villain in every single frickin superhero movie? Why? Is there a ancient rule saying there has to be?

But saying that, I do want a new villain. My choice is Riddler. But Joker can still figure into the story, especially with the knowledge that he has.

I agree....I think people want Nolans movies to leave the past movies in the past... and have every movie open like this... 3:17 is where the introduce mr freeze with the worst dialogue ever

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH2n3sB9N5U&feature=related

nah I like the escalation approach... having all the baddies around from previous ones and new ones sprouting.... creating a really messed up Gotham....

besides.. you can't top TDK without Joker... .. I mean TDK was Harveys story, Rachels death and the intro to The Joker... People think Penguin/Riddler and Black Mask can top that?.... keep dreaming

It don't work Jow. And anyway I haven't got any sound on my laptop! :D

Who is it and what are they saying?

Adam Sandler - "Oh Somebody kill me please"

Hmmm...I take you disagree with my post towards the top of the page then yea? :D

This is 100% True

They are also the same people who claimed it would be impossible to top Jack Nicholson and... here we go again.

Exactly, everybody remember that nonsense? they were all anti-ledger before they saw the film, swearing noone could top nicholson for the last 20 years.

i admit when i first heard ledger in late 2006, i felt shortchanged, but after seeing the pics and such, i was on board. i even convinced some people to give ledger his shot, and we all know how superb he was.

i say they are at least a dozen actors in hollywood could play the role, and some, perhaps, even better than ledger. forget depp as the riddler, depp as the joker. get jude law or norton for the riddler.

All I'm saying is, I'm sure Nolan understands that the movies will go on without him. "Trilogy" is not the word folks. "Nolan's trilogy" sure. But that's it. Nothing else. It's not a "Batman Trilogy" in the least. He left the door open for other artists to use the character. That's that. We don't NEED Joker for round 3. Nolan did everything he wanted to do with the Joker.

Same with face - Is he dead? As far as Nolan is concearned = yep.

Is he dead to the general audience, fanboys, execs? Not a chance. Nolan knows this as well and left it ambiguous so that, once again, another film maker can explore that character if they like. Why do you think Scarecrow was so downplayed in this film? Nolan shot his wad on the character. There wasn't much more he wanted to do with him. But he needed to close that door on him. Joker was captured = door closed. Face is "dead" or in a coma = door closed. Can they open these back up if they want? Yep.

Will Nolan? I really really doubt it? I don't think he held anything back from these characters when he used them. And so why would he re-tread them again?

Honestly, to hell with the Joker right now. I'm satisfied with what we got from Nolan. Let's get some great interpretations of the riddler, catwoman or the bazillion other villains he can use.

It's maddening to see this thread still open because of the stupidity it was started with from that original "article". It's, pardon my french, BS. To even want the Joker back right now is stupid. No arguments, just plain stupid. It'll be the same old song and dance while Nolan's behind the helm. Not that it wasn't great, but lets let that go for now.

Keywords = "for now."

When someone else comes in I'll be at the forefront wanting to see "their" Joker. I've seen Nolan's. Let him and us have some new stuff. To be honest, I've seen TDK enough that I'm sick of the Joker already. Even Two-face. I've had my fill of them in this style. It was perfect. I don't need anymore. Give me something fresh.

But MOST of all = give me a story about Batman this next go around. No more of this "______ 's story arc is more important than Bruce Wayne's" crap.

You could have him fighting the Clock King for all I care. Just give me a story about Batman. Please.

Or Guy Pearce as Riddler  :hehe:

stay off the herb, my young and dilluted friend. Pearce is a loss, im afraid. whatever talent he once may have had has been squandered by meaningless effeorts in the degradation of art.

why is it batgeeks always have to mention pearce in some bat-role. does it all stem from 2002 pearce as batman rumors (which would have blown)?

Errr...no. I've never mentioned Pearce for any other role. The guy would be PERFECT for Riddler IMO.
