Eternals Rumors about the Eternals coming in Phase 4...

The problem with the Eternals is were they even relevant at one point? I mean the Inhumans were in the cartoon, videogames even before the MCU started. They are essential Fantastic Four characters. While Black Bolt, Crystal and Medusa are well connected to the Marvel Universe. Eternals.. I can't name a single character as of now. I only know the face of the blonde dude with the stars on his chest.

Whether they were relevant in the comics is not really a problem. So long as they have the potential to serve a role in the MCU, they can be made to work just as the Guardians did. The Eternals expand the cosmic side of the MCU and potentially help set up mutants. They have a role to play.

I have zero interest in this unless it's based on Kirby's original run. I want SHIELD chasing the concept "Indiana Jones meets Sersi from Greek mythology", leading up to Godzilla-size robots landing on Earth to analyze it.

"Eternals don't know they're anything other than average New Yorkers. Also one of them is 616 Hercules! And so is Ms. Marvel!" sounds terrible, and not getting to see Celestials standing on Earth would be so bleh.

Were the Guardians of the Galaxy before the movie? Sure, they had a lot of comic issues but no one really knew of them outside of Rocket from MvC3. This has a chance at being great too. Also with it being less popular, allows for a little pushing and pulling with the comic accuracy. Just hope Sersi is the lead.

I will say, I recently read Gaiman’s Eternals run and it could be a nice jumping off point for a movie. Lots to tweak and push but I liked the tone of it a lot.

What does black list mean? Is it the tv show? I thought it was like if you said something bad about Steven spielberg’s Mum or whatever you got put on the Hollywood black list.

Anyway I’m not worried. Marvel has always had success by waiting for the right script to turn up rather than just getting people to go out and write scripts for them. Eternals is a random choice but I can dig it.

To be honest I was actually more worried about black panther and cap marvel because they looked like the first fan demanded properties and I thought maybe that meant they might miss the marvel touch. How wrong I was!

In this case the term is used for known great scripts within the industry that haven't been produced for whatever reason.

Its weird, when I was researching which Marvel team to read that didn't have many issues/titles aside from Gotg. I was choosing between Inhumans/Eternals and chose the former because it was going to be a movie. And now Inhumans are dead and this one is getting a movie treatment.

I did the same thing, but I at least did it several years ago. It got me reading Charles Soule's Uncanny Inhumans run and then Al Ewing's Royals, so I have no complaints. Eternals seems much shorter overall. When I assemble a reading list for them, I'll probably have to throw in stuff involving the Celestials and Deviants without them too.

They had an arc in Thor in the 70s, but their biggest relevance is probably that an Eternal or two was a member of the Avengers from time to time - particularly if you count Starfox.

I would love to find out what went down between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV in regards to Inhumans and what role (if any) that played in putting an Eternals flick onto the MCU front burner. They are similar enough properties, but you would think Feige and company would prefer working with higher profile characters like Black Bolt, Medusa and Lockjaw over Ikaris, Sersi and Makkari.

Did the rumored plot of the Inhumans being earth based sleeper agents cause (additional) tension between Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment, to the point that Feige decided to hand it back to Ike? Did he think that the Celestial based background of the Eternals fit in better with Phase 4? My suspicion is that the Inhuman story line on AOS completely turned off the control-freak Feige from putting Terrigenesis into his connected cinematic universe, and after the split he decided to go in another direction.

I feel abundantly confident that this is the reason. And, truth be told, it makes sense given how lame the Inhumans were in AoS. I'll go to the mat defending AoS, but the weakest aspect of that show by far is all the Inhuman stuff in season 2.

I don't know if it was so much the quality that turned him off (though that was a definite problem) but the fact that AOS introduced Inhumans in the first place. When Anthony Mackie pooh poohed the idea of Marvel TV characters showing up in the movies he gave a glimpse of how Feige operates. He created this world from scratch and any cooks not under his direct control are not welcome in his kitchen.

This whole idea just seems like Kirby had run out of good ideas so Marvel pulled a poorly thought out retread idea out of the trash.

Someone who looks like the Devil but claims to be a good guy warns them that these "gods" are not benevolent, so don't touch it. SHIELD agents show up to take over everything. The protagonists don't want to cooperate.
End with Godzilla-sized robots landing on Earth. The ancient Greek characters the script has introduced bow to these "gods" and say they're here to judge us.

I'm not a comic book guy, but after I've seen Avengers in 2012 I was so excited about Thanos. When I heared the next movies after Iron man 3 and Thor 2 will be Cap 2 and something with a talking racoon I was so dissapointed...never again I was so wrong.

Im open to it. Not sure how it would work. They shouldn't be on earth or at most only a couple. Otherwise it begs the question of where had they been while all the other stuff was going on.
Maybe have them be the rulers of earth before odin conquered the 9 realms.

Dunno. There is a lot of possibility there. I'm sure that feige and his crew have a good idea where they want to go with this. Maybe the celestials being the big bads after thanos? Although would mean a galactus threatening the earth would be well down the road.

Blend the eternals with the olympians. Hercules, ares and zues brought in.

In that idea, the Eternals are "ancient Greek" people who bow to the giant invaders, right? Sound like bad guys. The devil looking dude is the hero?

I'd find it interesting if the wash of cosmic energy expended at the end of this movie (theoretical) affected the genetics of the people on planet earth, as well as 4 astronauts orbiting the planet, not protected by earth's atmosphere.

Doctor Strange 5 was a joke because I'm an over-the-top fan of his, but you're seriously done with Thor? You think Ragnarok was just, like what? The end of his heroics?

And the real mandarin from All Hail the King? No one wants to address that?

But then yes to a Bucky Cap film? I dont understand.
