Well… the “majority of the movie going public” are the same people who gave Batman Begins a thumbs up. But since this is the opinion of “stupid” people, one can only conclude that Begins is a movie mostly praised by idiots.

The Prestige hit hard competition quickly. It opened (#1 mind you) against a tough group of movies and then had Saw III the next week.

The Prestige did well at first because it was riding on the "Batman Begins with Wolverine in it" premise. When people realized it didn't have the spirit of that, it faltered a bit.

BatScot is right and I'm sick and tired of all of you thinking Nolan is somekind of genious he can't even balance out great action with great story he sucks in terms of action and yea I know there must be a point to get to the action but let's face it it's a danm Batman movie not a drama film. The first half of Batman Begins was excellent the movie went down under in the second half, scarecrow gets show in the face by a danm taser? Come on man you can come up with something more original, Nolan needs to learn how to balance great action with a great story line, i.e. Terminator 2 judgement day, The crow, Gladiator etc... I would like to see a Batman film where he actualy fights with style and impact i.e. Bourne Identity, Casino Royayel, History of Violence, Fighter in the Wind, Mission Impossible 3...

Nolan needs to learn how to make a good action flick or atleast balance it out with GREAT ACTION AND GREAT STORY LINE, that's if he wants to actualy break B.O. office records because I'm sure if you could actualy see the fighting in Batman Begins it would of eliminate spiderman. Spiderman makes more money because it has crazy special effects crazy action and a good storyline, spiderman is balanced out.
