The Amazing Spider-Man Sally Field in early talks for the role of Aunt May

I don't mind Sheen, but I'm not a fan of this casting. Rosemary was near perfect IMHO. She perhaps could have been a bit more aggressive. I always viewed Aunt May as being caring, but had a good fire in her, and could be pretty strike with Peter when she wanted.

All caring spitfires. This movie would be lucky to have her.

Also Sally Field has to be Ultimate! Aunt May. She has to be the take no prisoners I will cut a ***** May. And she can pull it off from the bits of pieces I've seen of Brothers and Sisters.

Excellent choice, and they went younger with her, too, as some speculated here. Good, hope she accepts.

And in that photo of hers when she was younger (in page 1), she looks a lot like Emma Stone.

Maybe it is the Lee era fan in me, but I much prefer traditional Aunt May. But, even USM Aunt May, I would be looking more for Hellen Mirren than Sally Field. I just don't see it. Like I said, she is a fantastic actress, but that doesn't always make you right for a role. This is a case I disagree. This would be like casting Susan Surandon to me.

I would have never seen it coming. I remember her from Mrs. Doubtfire, and my mother is always watching that rubbish Brothers and Sisters show. Cool beans? We'll see.

This is such great casting... really inspired casting... like many have said already its weird no one suggested her before.

There is a reason no one suggested her...because it is a bit out of left field. While she is a good actress...she just doesn't scream Aunt May to me. She may be the best May ever...idk.
