The Amazing Spider-Man Sally Field in early talks for the role of Aunt May

Yeah that's what I thought. Would like to know who Jack and Danny would be playing?

I'd like for Nicholson to play J. Jonah Jameson and Glover for Robbie Roberston.

Would be legendary.

Nicholson wouldn't work

His physicality, head shape, things like that, are all wrong

I understand your concern, but I would let some of those tings go, for a different feel on the character. He could lose some pounds if he really wanted to.

Now you all want to be attracted sexually to Aunt May. WTF is wrong with you people, seriously?
.

Lol. The thing is ,I think people are getting way too worked up over the idea of an actress playing Aunt May who is also considered to be attractive. This is Hollywood after all and even if the actress is in her 70's , they're gonna try to find someone who is at least pleasant looking. She may not be a bombshell, but she's not gonna look like the version from the 60's comics.

I totally agree.

Then again that guy under the name of "Robbie" had the wrong physicality, shape and things like that.

Dude, it's Jack Nicholson. He's at the age where he doesn't give a **** anymore.

If Nicholson said he wanted a part in a comic book film, regardless of his Joker portrayal, I highly doubt any director would immediately be like, "no."

That would be millions worth of free marketing if Nicholson was even a rumor.

I wouldn't mind if Aunt May looks like a sexy supermodel (who is now a bit older), and maybe she's the one who inspires Mary Jane to also become a model. There could be a scene where MJ sees some of Aunt May's old modelling pics (maybe some sexy bikini pics) and thinks that she could never be as beautiful. Then May can tell her that MJ just needs to believe in herself. If this were one of the scenes that happens without Peter knowing, it would explain why Aunt May keeps trying to set him up with the pretty girl next door. Maybe May and MJ already have bonded over the modelling pics and May recognises a true beauty when she sees one.

Dude... what the hell are you smoking?

Sony can pay me a cool $100,000 to spread that rumor anyday:woot:

And yes, to another poster, if Nicholson said "Hey I could be Jonah" I'd think they'd give him a crack at it, audition wise at least.

"Never rub another man's rubarb Peter!"

LOL!

The only character I could see Jack playing would be Osborn and even that is a stretch. At one time he might have been ok, but now he's too old.

You have to be joking...or else I've witnessed one of the worst suggestions possible.........wow!

Sally Field should bring Robin Williams into picture to play man villain... Karven as such.. Rhyfus Isaasnsisaacs is only partial villain, need main big villain form of hupti Mogambo Khush hua

In all pashtuness, what about Sally Field falling in love wiht Robin Williams Doc Ock for seqwal of film.

Aunt May could easily be in her 20s or 30s and be the hot aunt that Harry has a crush on.

Put it this way: In CSI Miami, Horatio Caine (David Caruso) has a son who is in his teens (maybe mid to late teens) and the mother of his son is Elizabeth Berkley. I see no reason why Peter's aunt couldn't be about the same age (ie in her late 30s or even mid 30s).

Sally Field even at the time of Smokey and the Bandit could've been Aunt May. No reason May couldn't always look like this:

These are both disgusting ideas. I hate you forever

In fact, you should be drawn and quartered for even suggesting these sack of feces you call ideas :down

Rosemary was such a good Aunt May i can't picture anybody playing her, but her.

Yeah, I loved her. But Sally seems to be pretty good. I'm sure she'll do fine.

I have a question;

Do you guys want your Aunt May with gray hair, pepper gray hair or still showing color? Because the problem with a lot of these suggestions is that the actress clearly isn't gray. I know they can dye it, or put on a wig, but i'm just saying.....

I'm not bothered. As long as she's not wearing a bikin and saying 'I believe there's a super model in all of us... keeps us hard...' I'm not bothered at all.

Who says Aunt May has to be grey or even peppered? A lot of actresses (or even modern women) even in their 50s or 60s still can look great and youthful for their age, and probably dye their hair anything other than grey. A brunette Aunt May is fine with me. A hot, bikini-wearing 30-something Aunt May is even better! She could be a mentor to MJ. In fact, make Anna Watson (MJ's aunt) one of May's model friends (btw where was Anna in the Raimi movies?) and that would be fine. May and Anna could be former runway models who are now retired (who do the odd occasional cover) but are still hot in their late 30s or 40s. Having May as a former model could also up the stakes for Peter, because she is a celebrity face from all her magazine covers and would be more of a target. It would also cause more problems for Peter (which is the whole idea of the franchise) because not only would he have to juggle his own problems, but he would have to cope with his Aunt who is still trying to relive her youth and glory days and be independent and everything, often putting her in harm's way.

And whoever scoffs at my ideas, then think about Smallville or any other franchise these days. Martha and Jonathan Kent have been traditionally portrayed as really old, but in Smallville they are young, independent and have their own lives. Annette O'Toole is attractive enough in her own right for her age. Or what about Doctor Who. The Doctor isn't this ancient, decrepit time lord anymore like William Hartnell. He's a young and trendy lead in the form of Matt Smith. It's time Aunt May was updated for modern audiences. Aunt May as a 70-80+ granny goodness is outdated, unless they change the premise and say that Peter hasn't gone to live with his Aunt and Uncle but his grandparents. But then she would have to be Grandma May.

I'm not talking about being sexually attracted to an OLD Aunt May. I'm talking about having an Aunt May who isn't a granny, but could be in her 30s and is attractive or sexy. That is a perfectly reasonable suggestion since it makes more sense, and most people's aunts aren't in general more like their grandmothers. I'm talking about not sticking to the original so rigidly to make things more relatable. Marc Webb even said he wanted to make this Spider-Man movie more relatable to a new generation, and having Granny May won't cut it. Having an Aunt May who could look like Catherine Zeta Jones or any other actress in their late 30s to 40s is perfectly acceptable. After all, Marvel themselves changed Justin Hammer from an old man to the Sam Rockwell version. Sony can do the same with Aunt May.

Is Sally Field going to play the 'cool' aunt or something... like in the Ultimates? It seems like that. lol

The fact that the reset film's cast is skewing younger really makes me think that there's going to be a much greater 'Ultimate' influence on the film than there was on Raimi's films, which is not only a great decision narratively (USM is, quite frankly, the only time I've EVER read a Spidey comic, having gotten most of my knowledge and appreciation for the character from other mediums such as the 1994 Spidey cartoon on FOX), but also practically, since it will help further distance the reset film from Raimi's Spider-Trilogy.
