Civil War Scarlett Johansson is back - The Official Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff Thread - Part 1

It's unfortunate but understandable why we haven't got Black Widow movie yet. Phase one had to introduce the big guns based on their comic history and Black Widow just wasn't as big as Cap, Tony, Hulk or Thor.

Phase two was mostly about sequels with room for two new properties, GOTG and Ant-Man. Guardians was more important because it expanded the universe to space. Black Widow could have replaced Ant-Man, but that had been in preproduction figuratively forever. It was about time it was made.

Phase 3 could have had Natasha's own movie, but Feigi figured Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Cap Marvel to be more important. Again, very understandable.

Perlmutter is/was against female lead movies, the Ant-Man movie was still a way off, and they had to have one woman on the Avengers. They had to plant someone somewhere.

They couldn't plant Monica Rambeau in CATFA or Captain Marvel in Thor, but they just about managed to plant BW in IM2.

Had Ant-Man been made in phase 1, I'm not sure we'd be seeing nearly as much BW and pretty sure we'd be seeing a lot more Hope or Janet.

It could be argued that BW is a high-profile character now, but Marvel's new emerging model of deemphasizing "solos" goes against the kind of movie BW fans seem to want.

I really suspect that at this point Johansson is not interested in BW's movie herself. But of course she wouldn't say that out loud. Hence all these cunning answers in interviews from her.

1. BLACK WIDOW SOLO
15.-Black-Widow.jpg

At long last, a “Black Widow” solo movie is virtually guaranteed at this point, the only question is when. Kevin Feige said in the past that they’re very deeply committed to a Black Widow movie in the future, and just this week, Scarlett Johansson said that she and Feige agree that the character is right for a standalone film. It’s just a case of timing.
After what will be at least eight years in the MCU since her debut in “Iron Man 2,” Black Widow will finally get to carry her own film. One of the interesting things about this is that she’s one of Marvel’s only non-powered characters, so the movie will have to rely on Natasha Romanov’s combat skills and spy training for the action. There’s been a lot of talk about the character exploring her origins with the “Red Room,” where she was raised and trained to be a killer. As an international woman of mystery, the potential story paths they could take are endless.

Oooh sounds interesting. Currently watching Civil War. Been a long time since I had seen it. I love it. :hrt: my 2nd viewing here had me chuckle...laugh out loud, snicker...grin. I forgot how much I enjoyed it the first time since last May.
